Sang Qian put the phone on speaker. "What are you saying? I am not talking to you. You are so busy with yourself, that you couldn't even attend the wedding. Not that It was mine, but you still could. You and Wang Zhao have been friends for so many years."
"I don't care, Qian, I didn't know you would get married. If I did, I would probably have attended. Ugh! God!"
"Leave it, sister. If you want to make up for your mistake, come and see me when you will be back."
Sang Qian ended the call and threw her phone on the side. She was cursing inside. She picked up her dishes and walked outside the door. "I am so mad for no reason." She breathed out deeply.
Surprisingly when she reached the ground floor, she saw about two servants, cleaning the living room. They turned to look at her and she bowed her head lightly. "Good afternoon." She smiled at them.
They all looked at each other and then smiled back at her bowing on a full ninety degrees. Her heart skipped a beat. She walked to the kitchen and saw another old lady, she seemed familiar. The same aunt who helped her when she had injured her knees.
She smiled at her. "Good to see you, aunt Si."
The lady turned around. "It's lovely to see you here, as Mrs. Wang, I was pretty sure of this the other night Mr. Wang asked me to take care of you."
Sang Qian was confused. "Hm?" Just then Wang Zhao entered the kitchen.
"We will be having guests today. Aunt Si, I would like you to prepare a full course meal. They will be here by 7. Qian, come to the study." He smiled lightly. His face was stiff and Sang Qian didn't miss it. Didn't he just leash out on her a few minutes back?
She passed the dishes to Aunt Si and followed him upstairs. Since he was acting cold, why would she take his crap? She pushed her hair back behind her ears and clenched her jaw lightly.
He entered the small door right beside the bedroom ones. Sang Qian followed him inside. Surprisingly the study was way bigger than she thought. There was one wall covered in shelves for books. Most of them were empty. The ones which were filled were full of files.
The interior was pure woodwork with a vintage theme. There was a big office-like working desk on one side and a smaller one next to it. She saw the name tag, "Sang Qian." She smiled lightly but when she turned to look at Wang Zhao it faded away.
He started. "We are having guests. Mr. and Mrs. Renolds. They are my business partners from the states. As soon as they got to know about our marriage, they wanted to meet you. Now the main point, I told them this was a love marriage. So, You have to act wisely."
Sang Qian tried to hide her cold laughter but in the end, chuckled. Her eyes were cold and she crossed her arms over her chest. It took her seconds to turn into a villainess. "I will, but will you? That's the main question. Oh well, you're such a good actor anyway. That smile in front of Aunt Si looked so natural."
Wang Zhao clenched his jaw. He stepped closer to where she was standing. "Indeed, I am good at everything I do. Whether, it's to lay hold of you. So you better.. just do what you are asked to."
"What If I don't?" Sang Qian passed him a challenging look. "I have been good to you because I thought we can start over just fine but, how could I forget that Mr. Wang Zhao, is stubborn as ever." She commented with a smirk.
Wang Zhao smiled coldly. "Exactly, stubborn. That's who I am. See, when I didn't want you, I didn't have you. When I want, I have you. The same way Sang Qian, no matter how wild you act, whatever you do; how much of villainess you want to be...
"Always remember, the one your actions are for, is me. And every action of yours, from this point onwards, will have a very personal reaction from me." He was standing closer to her, just an inch away.
She stared into his eyes. She could see the darkness in his eyes. "Very well, Mr. Wang, I would like to see, how do you tackle me. I would love it." She placed her arms around his neck as a sign of overpowering. Her lips held a smirk and her face a playful expression.
Wang Zhao suddenly turned stiff with the closeness. With a little movement, they would kiss. He stood there, frozen but his brain was working on a speed of a computer CPU, he couldn't afford to let her have the first win. He knew she was trying to overpower him.
All of a sudden his hand snaked her waist. He stared at her face which suddenly changed expressions. She was the one who became hesitant out of nowhere. She blinked surprisingly when he leaned in.
He skipped a beat. He pressed his lips against her jaw. She closed her eyes at the sudden attack. Strangely, not her lips but her jaw, exactly closer to her ear. She knew it was a warning.
He could feel her weight increasing on his arm, knowing she was reacting to his actions. "You're new to the game I have aced." He whispered sensually.
Sang Qian's heart was thundering in her chest. She felt tingled where he touched her. Especially her jaw was as if her muscles were going crazy inside with a brain of their own; and all tingly.
She pushed him away and saw him smirking. "I didn't even make an effort yet. You will regret challenging me." She warned and was about to walk away. He caught her wrist.
"Remember to tell them the truth on your part, that I was always your childhood crush and you love me for the last 5 years," Wang Zhao said in a calm voice.
"The truth is, that my feelings did fade away and I am just trying to bring them back to life, to save this wedding. But anyway, I will just tell them that." She sighed and walked outside.
Wang Zhao started fanning his face. "It's hot here." He smiled awkwardly to himself. He knew exactly what he felt like when he was close to her. He shook his head.
His phone started ringing. He pulled it out of his pocket. He raised the phone to his ear not bothering to say anything.
He was just listening to the other end. His eyes turned cold of nowhere. The calm expression was gone and was replaced by a raging one. He ended the call and walked to the desk. He was trying to hold it in but couldn't, he punched the wall tightly.
The pain was soothing. He smiled to himself. "I was just a fool for you, Mi Chan. I should have taken action three months ago instead of fucking listening to you! I was such a fool!"
He ran a hand through his hair. He closed his eyes and thought about the time, Li Zinhuo warned him at the bar about Mi Chan by showing him the video of her leaving the hotel.
He pursed his lips. "Mi Chan was not at the hotel, but your apartment Li Zinhuo, you planned to be on the safe side. I should have known."
He mumbled to himself. A sigh escaped his lips. He was tired of thinking about them. He didn't want to think about them but he needed closure. He wanted to end this from roots. He wanted to clarify everything and know the truth. The truth he knew, Sang Qian also wasn't aware of.
***
Sang Qian was sleeping soundly in the room. She didn't care about the time. She knew she needed proper rest because she wasn't well yet. Her face held a light frown as she felt slightly uncomfortable.
Wang Zhao entered the room. His eyes landed on her sleeping body, he sighed and walked to her side. He squatted down beside her and patted her shoulder. She didn't budge.
He patted her face this time. The smooth skin of her face was giving him reasons to let his palm rest against her cheek. She opened her eyes lightly when she heard him call her name.
"Sang Qian." His voice was low and gentle.
She stared at her face and the first thing she felt was warmth and then suddenly she was reminded of the bruise under his eye and cheek. She blinked at stared at him. Wang Zhao tucked her hair behind her ear very casually.
"Wake up, you just have an hour to get ready. It's been long since you have been sleeping." He said and stood up walking to the closet.
Sang Qian had a big stretch before she pulled herself out of the bed. She rubbed her eyes still asleep. Wang Zhao walked out and she bumped into him. He caught her in place on time before she could fall backwards.
His arm was around her waist. He stared at her as she looked like a sleepy kid. Her lips in a slight pout and her hair slightly messed.
Sang Qian on the other hand was stunned by the sudden interaction with her husband. She pursed her lips but, suddenly surprise washed over her. She realized he was shirtless. All her sleep was now gone. She turned around and pushed him away.
"Why are you roaming around half-naked!" She complained and crossed her arms over her chest.
"It's my room. Why? Are you turned on by seeing my abs?" Wang Zhao chuckled as he walked inside the bathroom.
"No, I have seen better, to be honest, but anyhow, don't take long, I need to use the restroom too." She said and walked back inside the closet to decide on what to wear. She ended up choosing a navy blue knee-length fitting summer dress.
Her smile widened when she saw the dress. "It's been long, since I had worn one like this. It's time to dress sexy."
Hmm, I liked this chapter myself. Whose excited for a spiced up future? We can’t let this be boring, can we?
