Departing for the academy

Today's the day. the first step to the start of our journey.

"May our Lord God, Thanatos, bless you in the path of your adventures and may your enemies suffer under the benevolence of darkness and death"

Its been two weeks since....

Theo had left the next day after the day of her birthday back to his home country to prepare on his side for the upcoming entrance exams of the Academy.

It was an abrupt parting but it was only for a short amount of time compared to the two years they didn't see each other.

Though the inevitable feeling of sadness crept on the heart of Selene, but it didn't affect her as much as she was going to see him once again in a few days.

Selene still remembered the last conversation they had on the last day Theo was in the palace of Aventus.

They talked about how they're parents knew of their destiny and the reason why their involvement with them was less was because of the simple reason of making them stronger.

One such evidence dated back to years ago when both of their fathers somehow let them off easy when they clearly endangered their lives.

Another one pointed by the fact of their previous distrusted conversation in the garden before the burning of the palace garden incident was how their fathers have been recently more loose on the amount of escorts accompanied them whenever they planned to do something outside the palace

One such example was the auction incident and another was when Theo went to the mountains alone with only a singular expert to accompany him back when he wanted to get his current sword Dawn.

And finally, their silence in the midst of their clearly suspicious activities.

They weren't questioned. Not once.

Not for the auction incident, not for the undead summons that Selene clumsily revealed during her altercation with Theo after auction incident, not for Theo's reckless behaviour during his time in the mountains to get Dawn

Not a single time were Selene and Theo questioned by their fathers. Their mothers and siblings as well, which gave them an inkling that something was going on in the background that Theo and Selene didn't know.

But in the end it was more beneficial for them

The less questions there were, the easier it was for them to make bolder moves in the upcoming trouble in the future.

All I could do is be grateful for their trust in me.

Selene swore that it wouldn't be betrayed.

This gave her another height of motivation to pushed forward for the sake of the world

"Now give applause for the new generation that would surely lead our nation into new heights! May the darkness and death bless you!"

Selene snapped out of her trance as a familiar quote echoed across the enormous cathedral, which she vividly remembered in the prologue of Selene's Academy Arc.

A couple dozen teenagers around her age knelt down in front of the altar as a priest in black ceremonial clothing blessed them in the name of their god, Thanatos.

He was the pope and leading clergy of the Church of Thanatos.

He was exaggeratingly tall, standing at 200 cm in height, easily towering anyone in the cathedral. He had long black silky hair all the way down to his ankles and similarly lengthy beard reaching his waist.

Selene thought that her hair was a pain to take care of sometimes.

She wondered what miracles this old man had to do to make his hair looks so beautiful

Amos Toten of the Toten family. A lineage that leads the church of Thanatos.

Despite being a person that could rival a Pinnacle tier individual in the confines of the capital, he would also perish in the overwhelming assault of the demons.

Not much was known about the person in question, but she knew that he was a man that was extremely passionate and desired for his country's peace.

All I can say is that he was the guy that baptised me when I was a baby and he would occasionally have formal dinner with us for business.

Clap!* Clap!* Clap!* Clap!* Clap!* Clap!* Clap!*

A resounding claps reverberated throughout the Cathedral drowning Selene's ears, making her slightly irritated from the lengthy booming sound the crowd around her was enacting

All the teenagers present, kneeling in front of the altar of Thanatos and priest, were all chosen and handpicked to be the representatives of the Vitoten Empire.

All from different backgrounds, but mostly children of nobles, yet they all share the same thing in common.

Talent.

All the teens here are the new upcoming generation of geniuses that would pave the way for the future.

And involved in its destruction as well.

Selene knew that a fourth of the students were somehow, by fate's poor decision, from the anti-imperial action, which obviously annoyed and irritated her greatly.

And all of them are mostly arrogant and stuck up pieces of sh*t

Selene had to deal with these kinds of people both in her past life and her current one.

Fed up was an understatement.

Just knowing the trouble they were about to give her in the future gave her a headache.

"Now rise! Young Followers of our God! And go now with pride!"

The teens all rose from their position and started marching out of the church with most of having their chest held high and their spirits ablazed as they strode through the red carpet leading out to their destination

The people on the bleachers were all the families of the chosen teens, some crying with joy, some calling out to their child, some nodding in approval and many more different kinds of reactions towards the leaving teenagers.

Most of them filled with inexplicable pride that their child was chosen for an opportunity that could very well change the course of their lives for the better.

Selene, who was the last one on the two gigantic doors of the church, was met by the Aventus family waiting for her arrival.

A gigantic ship, the size of two adult blue whales, was parked right in front of the cathedral, all the children going aboard, who were all looking forward to their time in the Academy.

It was a flying magical ship that was powered by a Rank 9 Magic stone. Countries could only dream of having such expensive contraptions.

The yearly maintenance itself cost half of the actual price to build the thing, so many countries opted not to make one, but Vitoten, standing as one of the top economic powers in the world could easily afford a dozen of these.

And a normal country could never afford or even get their hands of Rank 9 magic stones.

It basically had the capabilities of flying as fast as a fighter jet, so it only made sense for the price to be expectedly high.

Selene glanced back to her family, her mother in particular taking the initiative to hug her child.

Kali cried excessively, begging her sister not to go, but was gently pulled away by her brother, Adrien, who gave Selene a hug before disappearing somewhere to the side with Kali on hand, to prevent her from clinging to Selene.

The last embrace came from her father.

"Selene, If you need anything, just call me with the magic stone I gave you last night. I promise with every drop of my body that I will come running towards you, no matter the cost. I love you, my daughter. Stay safe"

The words that her father uttered to her slowly and carefully, pierced her heart with unexplainable warmth and joy, making her finally breakdown and cry in her fathers arms for a few seconds

Selene nodded her head one last time and walked off onto the Flying Ship as she waved to her family

As Selene set her foot on the ship, she took a final glance and a wave to her family.

No matter how hard it'll take, no matter how much it'll cost me. I promise I'll save you all.

She looked back at her life as Selene and all she could say was that it was overwhelming and she felt undeserving of it.

Then I'll just have to pay it back a hundredfold!

Selene walked off guided by a cabin crew to her own personal room for the journey to the Academy.

The Prologue is over! Now the Academy Arc for me begins!

Hey guys, Author here.

Apologise for the extremely mega late chapters.

I've been dealing with a lot of stuff lately. I also have my home internet still down.

I enjoy making this story, so please Look forward to Selene's and Theo's adventure.
