Chapter 8. Mother...?

I had given up on finding a place to stay for the night. it was getting to dark to continue to wander around the forest with all those creatures out there that could sneak attack me at any second. I sat down with a deep sigh on a huge root that stuck up from the ground. The more I sat there the more I tried to wrap my brain around everything that's happened but it slowly drifted to that person in the meadow.

Who was that I seen in the field? Why did they run away when they seen me? Oh.. i'm so stupid! They probably were the same as Leo and thought I was going to hurt them..

I let out a long exhausted sigh but then shook my head as I started to pick at my new huge claws on my hands instead of thinking of the negative things. I had some pretty big claws but they were completely filthy along with my hands and the rest of my body.

I would kill for a shower right now...

After a long long while, I heard birds start to sing above me. It was like a beautiful melody, it was enchanting. I quickly looked up and my mouth opened in shock as I seen a brightly colored creature.

It looked like a raging flame. The different colors of red and orange and some purple at the end of the feathers swirled together, It was a beautiful bird that you would only see in story books. It looked like a Phoenix! There were a couple of others there as well but these were bright green, light blue and dark purple. It sounded as if they were singing to each other.

The side of My mouth turned up in a smile as I listened to the beautiful song each of them were singing. It soon ended when they got startled by something and quickly flew away. My confusion showed on my face as I was trying to see what startled them until my eyes got locked onto some very familiar blood red eyes. My blue eyes widen as the beast stepped out of the shadows and into the light right in front of Me. I didn't want to get taken back to that cave so I quickly turned and tried to take off running but the beast was way to quickly and it's jaws gently but swiftly wrapped around me before I could get away.

I huffed in aggravation as I hanged in the beasts jaws. I could feel the breath of the beast on my stomach making me very... disturbed. I sighs softly not wanting to make the beast aggravated.

This is not what I thought my new life was going to be like...

Beasty then start to walk through the dark forest after it made sure I was settled in its jaws. I didn't want to go back to the cave... or that was where I assumed the beast was taking me. The beast gently stepped over large log lifting Me up slightly as it did. I looked at the huge teeth the beast had and noticed something stuck in them. I used my long sharp nails to scrap what ever it was off the beasts teeth. As I looked at yellowish tooth I sighed softly.

"I'm probably going to die... aren't I?"

My voice was soft but steady as I came to realize I probably wasn't going to be able to make it in this world. It was different, And I didn't know the first thing about survival here. I would have been more grateful if the cat had turned me into an actual dog! Maybe, just MAYBE if he had I wouldn't be here and be somewhere with humans! I clenched my teeth as I thought of that stupid cat! He wasn't a god! He was an executioner! HE SENT ME HERE TO DIE! I could feel my body get hotter as I was getting more furious! After a while my rage stopped as the beast started to walk inside of the dark cave. The beast continued to walk through the crystal forest till we got to the soft grass beside the spring. It dropped Me down with a thud making Me groan softly. It wasn't as soft as it was last time? I looked down to seen that some of the grass had begun to turn a light brown. Some of it felt like straw... I sighed softly but my eyes suddenly widen as they drifted to the red smelly thing that was dropped in front of me. I sat there in shock and fear as I looked at the poor dead animal in front of me. Dark red blood Oozed from the huge bite mark on its neck sending a disgusted shiver down my spine... The blood flowed right in front of me and before it could touch me, I backed away quickly still in shock. It looked to be some kind of furry rat but it was half the size of me! I slowly looked up at the beast who was staring intensely at me. I slowly started to back farther away from the beast and the dead animal. The beast didn't seem to like that as its pupil sharpened and a low growl came from the beast throat. I stopped quickly and sat still, The beast looked at the dead animal then used its skull muzzle to gently pushed it closer to me. The blood smeared across the floor as it was pushed. My face was that of disgust as I looked at the mauled poor animal. The beast sat down on its haunches and watched me as if it was waiting... and I hoped it wasn't what I was thinking. I looked from the dead animal to the beast with mild confusion.

"What? What do you want me to do??"

I asked as if I was going to get a reply. The beast huffed through its nose then Lowered its head to the dead creature. It opened its jaws and bite into the dead creature causing more blood to flow onto the cold floor. it ripped some of the creatures flesh off and swallowed it causing blood to drip down its skull face and mouth. I watched in horror but quickly turned my head feeling like I needed to puke or something. The beast licked its lips then gently pushed the dead creature closer to Me.

I knew what it wanted and I didn't think I could do it...

I slowly looked to the dead animal then to the beast back to the dead animal. After the beast seen I wasn't eating a loud growl came from its throat making My hands start to shake lightly. My hands reached slowly out in front of me and grabbed onto the dead animal. This made the beast stop growl and it's shoulders relaxed. My eyes teared up as I felt the warm blood on my hands. The smell coming from the dead creature was absolutely disgusting. I didn't want to be anywhere near it... but I feared the beast more than eating this. My nails Digged into the moist flesh as I used my shaking hands to gently pull a piece of the dead animal off. I gulped as I looked at the red bloody flesh in my hand. I opened my mouth and quickly shoved the bloody flesh into it mouth. I could feel the blood rolling down the back of my throat as I chewed quickly wanting to get it down. My eyes widen as I felt a piece of the flesh get stuck in the back of my throat. I quickly raced over to the spring, I cupped some water in my hands and drank the fresh cool water. I pulled my hands from my mouth with heavy breaths. I looked at the spring to see most of the blood on my hands was washed away but I still had blood all over my mouth making me cup some water and throw it on my face trying to clean all the blood off. Once I couldn't see anymore blood I sighed softly but that didn't last as my anger filled eyes drifted to the beast.

"You happy now!?"

The beast walked over to Me and wrapped its bloody jaws around me. I was getting fed up with how the beast was treating me. It made me feel so... angry and weak! Something boiled up in the back of My throat and once it came out both I and the beast froze...

wait... I just growled.

My thought was interrupted by The beast droping Me into the green and brown grass gently while looking me. I looked up at the beast and I swore I seen the beast smile slightly... I kind of creeped me out. The beast laid down next to me and wrapped one of its arms around me. I huffed as I succumbed to my fate, I tried to wrap my mind around the beast weird behavior. I knew the beast was a female but why was it acting almost like a... mother? I pushed the thought aside as I tried to get comfortable in the beast fur. I turned over on my side towards the water fall, as I watched the water I felt my eyes close and I fell into a deep sleep while still in the beast large fluffy paws that have huge claws.
