Resurrection Arc 4

As soon as Lahap arrived with the ship, they put the Umbran mages into the prison bay. Kaizo ordered Suhani to take the victim to the nearest hospital while Fang investigated the cave until the morning came.

Kaizo walks into the prison bay in his ship. Behind the thick glass wall, a group of captured Umbran mages sits on the floor with their heads hanging low.

"I know there are more of you out there. And I know none of you are important to the rest of Umbran mages. So tell me everything I want to know. And I might reconsider not killing you," said Kaizo.

He looked at each one of them. But none of them moved. They all stayed silent. Suddenly, a man chuckles. It was the man who first used a magic spell to attack Kaizo. He took Kaizo's attention.

"You pick the wrong people to fight," said the man.

Kaio stared at him. His hood still covers his face. But from his figure and voice, Kaizo assumes that he's a middle-aged man.

"Our mages will not falter to the likes of you. We are beyond humans, working for greater power. You will never even touch our Lord," said the man.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Kaizo asked.

"Ha! A small brain like you won't be able to comprehend the cause of our Lord."

"Who is your Lord?"

"Ohhh we cannot speak his name. We dare not speak his name. But his name is everywhere. Only those who have been enlightened can find out his name," said the man.

"So you're afraid to speak but you're not afraid to die?" Kaio asked.

"Of course not. Our Lord reigns death. Even if we die, as his servants, we will be granted immortality for our sacrifices."

"And what will happen to those you've killed?"

"They shall rejoice! They are a part of our master. They will be the fire fuelling our master's will. Blessed with the power to walk through both the land of the living and the land of the dead. They will be his messenger, carrying words through both realms."

"The power to raise the dead…."Kaizo mumbled.

The man looked at Kaizo. He hurriedly goes to the glass wall. Kaizo can see his face now. He almost looked like a beggar with pale skin and an untidy mustache. He grinned and his eyes looked at Kaizo wide.

"Ahh hahahahaha… I see now. Maybe you are worthy after all. This too must be fate," he said.

Kaizo glared at the man.

"I pray that you will be enlightened and be a part of us, soon," he said calmly.

Unable to get anything from the prisoner, Kaizo went back to the murder cave where the ritual was held. Inside the cave, Fang and Suhani are still investigating.

"How's your investigation?" Kaizo asked.

"Several items similar to the ones on my last report were found. I've taken pictures of the crime scene," said Fang.

"Good," Kaizo replied. He runs his eyes through the caves. From the cave wall to the stone table and the scattered items. They all have carvings of runes on them.

"Should we collect these items and bring them to the ship?" Fang asked.

"Not yet. I'm going to take a look around first. Go get some rest. I'll call you when I'm done," said Kaizo.

"Yes, Captain!"

Both Fang and Suhani left, leaving Kaizo alone in the caves.

The sound of waves slowly brushes the cave, keeping Kaizo company. He walks around the caves, looking at every bit of it. The writing of runes on the walls that Kaizo can't read. The round stone table with a pentagram on it. Chalices on the ground smelled like blood. The door to a secret passageway.

He touched the walls with the runes writing. For some reason, it felt warm and nostalgic. It reminds him of Axion.

"This feeling. It's different but similar to Axion's magic," Kaizo thought to himself.

There are similarities between the magic that the Umbran used in their sacrificial ritual and the magic that Axion used on TrES2-B. They're both dark magic.

Sorrow seeps into his mind again. He missed her so much.

"Was the magic that you've learned like this?" he wondered.

"I know what you desire…."

Kaizo jolted. Surprised at the sudden deep voice that talks. He immediately pulls his sword and turns around.

A reddish ghostly shadow shaped like a dwarf demon with two horns sticking out of its forehead floating in front of him like smoke. He grins widely.

The demon is known to be deceitful, speaking words of desire with a voice full of temptations. And yet, many can't help but fall into its trap.

Kaizo can feel trickery from his eyes.

"I know what you long for…." said the demon as he slowly flew closer.

Kaizo doesn't faze. He kept pointing his sword at the demon.

"I can grant your wishes… Give you what you desire the most…" the demon hisses. "Power… Wealth… Honor…" he said as he circled Kaizo. "Love…." he slowly whispers into his ear.

Kaizo turned and lunged. His sword stabbed the wall and missed the demon's neck by an inch.

"Ahhh… love. Is that what you're looking for?" the demon sneered. He floats through Kaizo's sword like smoke.

"You know nothing about me," said Kaizo.

"Do I?" the demon grinned. "I think you're very well aware." The demon chuckled. "You're no different from us, are you? There are traces of darkness in you, unlike anything that mankind has ever seen." He looked Kaizo in the eyes. "What you're looking for is in the darkness."

Kaizo stares at the demon.

"I can guide you there…."

"You think I will believe you?"

"No, no. Of course not. I am not one to be trusted. Everyone knows that," the demon chuckled. "But you know I can be of use."

Kaizo went silent for a moment.

"You can find her, bring her back into your arms… All you need… is a book," said the little demon. "There's a book among the Umbran. A tome of resurrection, Necromantia…."

The demon's words took Kaizo's interest.

"Find the book, and see it for yourself," said the demon. It immediately disappeared before Kaizo could ask any further.
