You may ask us, why didn't we barricade the door? Well, moving shelves and tables made a lot of noise and we didn't want to alarm the other monsters about our presence in this room. But then again... that might have been pointless since we have been too excited with the statuses and whatnot. Anyway- "F-fucking do something! Anything!" I screamed in desperation while holding on the shoulders of the monster in front of me. "Kriee!! Chomp! Chomp!" Its mouth kept opening and closing in an attempt to bite my face off. And since his mouth was so close, I could smell its nasty breath while its saliva kept sprinkling all over my face. I was currently pinned down on the ground by this monster and this ugly bastard instantly went for my face. Realizing that I could really die if I lose my grip on his shoulders, My heart began beating erratically and a sense of panic was starting to come over me. "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" This bastard is so strong and persistent! Damn it! Scratch... "AH- FUCK!" Pain invaded both my shoulders after this bastard sunk his claws into my flesh and it didn't stop at that, it continued to cut wider, enlarging the wound. "Kriee!! Kriee!!" It made an annoying screech but I think it's laughing after seeing my pained reaction. Reaching the end of my limit, I shouted, "I need a little help over he-" "Kriie-...?" The monster stopped and lost strength as a tip of a sword emerged from his chest. It then coughed purple blood in front of my face which made me immediately push the monster away. Ah fuck... disgusting! Shit, did I get some of it in my mouth? "Puh! Puh! Puh!" I kept spitting on the ground, trying to get rid of the bitter and rubber-like taste in my mouth. [ Congratulations, you have raised your level to level 1! ] [ You have earned 2 Attribute points and 1 Skill point. ] I ignored the window notices in front of me as I collapsed on my butt, trying to catch my breath. "Haa... Haa..." I didn't notice it but I was sweating profusely from my forehead and armpits. I wanted to wipe my face but then I felt a stinging pain coming from both my shoulders. "A-ah.. fuck." I groaned as the searing pain began to settle. It seems that my relief made me forget that I was wounded. I took off my navy blue blazer which had tattered scratches on the sleeves. I irked in pain but then Anna-chan came to my side. "...I'll help you.." It was only after that moment when Reika collapsed on her knees while having a dazed face. I wanted to ask why didn't she already stab the bastard much earlier but then I noticed the several wounds on the goblins back. It seems that they were already trying to that. While helping me take off my white bloodstained long-sleeves, Anna-chan spoke. "...We apologize, Jin-kun... ..The goblin's skin was tougher than we expected." "It's... alright..." I replied, calming myself. "Besides, you guys saved me. So thanks for thar." After successfully removing my long sleeves my entire torso was exposed but that also means that I could now see three deep scratching wounds on both my shoulders, revealing the bloody flesh underneath. "Hiss...." Shit... this fucking hurts. My face crumpled as Anna-chan covered the wound with my bloodstained long-sleeves in which she ripped apart in order to have enough cloth to cover both my shoulders. At this time, Reika finally snapped out of her daze, moved beside us, and then helped in dressing up my wound. Looking at her pale face, I couldn't help but say, "It seems that living in this RPG world is tougher than it looks, huh." She made a grim smile before nodding in agreement to my thoughts. - Closing the door, this time, we barricated it without worrying if the other monsters heard us. I mean, even if they did, they would have to crash through the heavy bookshelves we placed in front of it. Anna-chan and Reika told me to take it easy since I still had wounds on both my shoulders but I also wanted to block the door as soon as possible so I helped despite the pain. Which probably isn't the smartest move since I wasn't sure whether the bleeding had stop or not. But in any case, we sat around the table, this time we were less than enthused as our grim reality was starting to dawn on our supposed isekai adventure. "..." "....." "...." No one said anything for a long time. Eventually, Reika looked at me and apologized. "I'm... I'm sorry Jin-kun. The goblin's skin and muscle was harder than I thought..." She looked deeply apologetic and a little bit down-spirited. I sighed and tried my best to make a normal smile. "It's fine Reika, I don't blame you. In fact, I'm just thankful that it was me that it attacked, not you guys." Reika looked slightly surprised when I said that. "...Why though? I never thought Jin-kun was a gentleman." Hearing her say that, I laughed and said, "Look, Reika. I may be a scumbag and act like a dick to you but at the end of the day... as much as I don't want to admit it..." My confidence disappeared which was soon overwhelmed by the feeling of embarrassment. So I inadvertently looked away from them and continued the cringey words out of my mouth, "...you guys are my friends." Ah crap, my face felt hot. This is so embarrassing! Why did I even say this! Ahhh... I'm so cringe. I'm gonna die of cringe. I regret saying that so much. I would rather face another goblin rather than- Just kidding! I don't want to jinx myself by continuing that thought. But seriosuly though, this is so embarrassing. I coughed and faced Reika and Anna-chan while acting like I didn't say anything cringeworthy at all. But when I saw their blank faces- It almost made me want to hide under the table and not look at them for a long time. Anna-chan looked the other way, probably trying to stop herself from laughing. Reika smiled at me and teased, "I never expected Jin-kun to look quite cute." Shut up. Shut up! I begged under my embarrassed voice, "Can we please... just get back to the topic." Reika chuckled lightly. "Alright... but you seriously look adorable when you're embarrassed. I mean do you realize how red your face is?" "S-shut up already!" "But just to let you know, I too, think of you as an important friend to me." She sweetly smiled while looking in my direction. "...Let's just get back on the topic already." Reika only raised her brow before finally dropping it. "Alright, let's begin. First off, what are your classes and skills? I'll start. My class is [ 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 ] and I have a passive skill called, [ 𝐒𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 - 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝟏 ]." She added, "My unique attribute is my base stats are doubled whenever fighting someone I deem heretic or unholy." "...So what, you're some kind of holy knight from a church? Like those, "Gather my brothers, for tonight, we protect this one." and "Tis but a flesh wound!" ...?" I asked. "I think so. I'm not sure, but I know you got those references from internet memes." Anna-chan then stretched out her palm and an orange magical circle appeared on top of it. Soon, blazes of fire appeared before eventually turning into a floating palm-sized fireball. "Ooohhh!" I inadvertently clapped like I was seeing a magic trick. With a blank face, Anna-chan announced. "My mana bar is drained to half... ..but I received a notice that I unlocked Fireball rank 1 and it is stored to my mind grimoire." Wait a minute. "Mind grimoire?" Anna-chan nodded at me. "It's my unique attribute... ..allows me to record spells.." "I see... and how powerful is that fireball?" Reika asked. "...Only one way to find out." After saying that, Anna-chan threw her fireball towards the corpse of the dead goblin which was several steps away from us. The small ball of fire travelled at a relatively fast speed. Upon impact- Boom! The fireball made a strong explosion but not to the extent where it shook the room. Purple blood and flesh bits splattered across the floor and a scent of burnt meat could be smelled in the room. Reika, Anna-chan, and I were stunned by the impressive firepower that the fireball showed. Black scorch marks could be seen from the spot where the fireball exploded and honestly, the goblin's body had been so disfigured that it looked quite pitiful. Still though, it was quite worrying since it made a loud explosion. We held our breaths, fearing that some monster would start hitting the door. Thankfully even after three minutes passed, there was no signs of any monster knocking on our door. "Phew... let's not do that again..." I muttered fearfully after sighing in relief.
