Chapter 3

-[Wynne]-

He and Weiss walked behind Jacques as they made their way through a luxurious manor. It was nowhere near as fancy as the Schnee home but he didn't point that out.

Jacques on the other hand pointed it out a few times before they even got to the door.

"You've been looking at your scroll ever since we left. What are you looking at?" Weiss asked in a low tone to avoid Jacques hearing them.

"Nothing important." Wynne said, not looking up from the screen.

Frowning, Weiss leaned over to see what had his attention only to look confused. "I've never seen this game before."

"Of course not. I made it." He revealed casually.

It had only taken a few hours to put together a Mario game to pass the time whenever he was bored. Another exciting thing he realised was that the more he coded, the better and faster he got at it.

"What do you mean you built a game?!" She questioned as Jacques tilted his head to them. "Did you say something?"

"Nothing at all father." Wynne deflected as the man turned away.

He then turned to Weiss who looked sheepish. "Sorry." She whispered.

"It's okay. I got bored one day so I made it. Want to try?" He said, offering her the scroll.

Taking the scroll, she navigated the game in confusion. "How do I play?"

He only chuckled in response. "You'll get the hang of it." He said, causing her to pout.

He wasn't lying. By the time they got to the hall filled with a large number of guests, Weiss' attention was glued to his scroll.

'Well I'm not getting that back anytime soon.' He thought, feeling around his pocket for his other scroll.

'The perks of being rich.' He thought as a middle aged man walked up to the white haired trio, Jacques specifically.

"Jacques, I'm so glad you could make it." The man said, grasping Jacques' hand in a handshake.

"It's a pleasure to be here Charles."

Wynne subtly lowered the scroll in Weiss' hand as Jacques turned to them.

"These are my children." Jacques introduced.

Charles Maron, the man hosting this charity event, faced the two teens with a confident smile. "Heir Schnee, I've heard so much about you."

"Mr Maron, it's a pleasure to meet you." Wynne greeted as they shared a handshake. The man briefly greeted Weiss as well before turning back to Jacques to discuss other matters.

"We'll leave you two to it while we mingle with the other guests." Wynne said, gently pulling Weiss along as they walked away.

As soon as they were out of view, Weiss pulled up the scroll to continue playing, causing Wynne to roll his eyes. "You know, I might have to take that from you."

A reluctant look appeared on the girl's face as she hid the scroll behind her. "Fine. I'll put it away. Since when were you able to make games anyway?"

"It's a new talent I recently discovered. I plan on going big." He revealed, causing her eyes to widen a bit.

"Does father know about this?" She asked.

He shook his head. "Not exactly, but he is funding it."

His idea was to recreate league of legends as an appetizer to get interested and invested before pushing out the actual money making games.

He didn't actually need the amount he got from Jacques but there was no such thing as too much money. He was a one man team and with how much faster he was getting, it wouldn't be long until he would have a working demo.

"That's amazing. I'm going to be your right hand man and play all your games before anyone else." Weiss said smugly.

"Technically, you're not a man." He pointed out as they passed a couple that was obviously a trophy couple that added no value to society. "Second of all, don't you want to be a huntress?"

He took a glass of wine from the tray of a server who walked past them.

"There's nothing that says I can't play games and be a huntsman." She defended, knowing he was teasing her.

Before either of them could speak, a feminine cough attracted their attention. They turned to the source to see a brown haired female standing behind them.

"Hi, you must be the Schnee twins." The girl greeted excitedly, causing Wynne to look at Weiss.

"Is that what we're called?" He whispered.

"I think so." Weiss responded as Wynne briefly scrutinized the girl.

He did his research before this event so he easily recognized who she was.

"Audrey Maron, nice to meet you two." The brown haired girl greeted, her excitement not dying down, neither did her eyes leave Wynne.

"Well someone's got an admirer." Weiss teased quietly, earning her a light jab from his elbow.

"Behave." He warned lightly as he stretched his hand to the girl. "Wynne Schnee, but you already know that."

Despite him not saying anything funny, she laughed, putting her hand on his shoulder. "You're so funny, Wynne."

Wynne had an exasperated look which he hid with practiced ease. "Why don't you girls get to know each other while I get you a drink."

"But there's a drink in your hand." Audrey pointed out the still full cup in his hand.

"No there isn't." He defended casually as Weiss took the glass from his hand, taking a sip. "Have fun girls."

As he walked away, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Audrey attempt to follow him only to be stopped by Weiss.

This wasn't the first time it happened that people attempted to form connections with the SDC, whether in person or through their daughters. Weiss was fulfilling her part in his usual escape plan, keeping the girl occupied for him to slink away.

Pulling out his other scroll, he connected to the home network in the manor, running a prewritten program to grant him deeper access.

It didn't take long for a download process to begin as he began downloading information from the devices connected as well as the numerous cameras he counted so far.

Knowledge is power, and he was getting that knowledge. Any friend/partner of Jacques was not a clean person and required investigation.

Gaining dirt on them now would allow him to stop them in case they attempt to aid Jacques when he took the company from the man.

Jacques would be alone and helpless to do anything as Wynne would take total control. He was a bit shocked to find out that the board owned around 40 percent of the shares of the company.

That was too much in his opinion, something caused by his father's stupidity.

While he was thinking on what to do, a man in a military uniform walked up to him, drawing his attention.

"Mister Schnee."

"Good evening, General. To what do I owe the honor of meeting you." Wynne greeted General Ironwood with a practiced smile.
