That morning, the campus atmosphere felt a little different from usual. Not only because of the colorful flags that decorated the yard, or the crowd of new students who mingled with their seniors. But also because there would be a love story that began there.
Jane, one of the new students who had just arrived at a campus named Jayakarta University. She wore a neat white shirt and black skirt, with her wavy brown hair flowing freely. She walked lightly with her two best friends, Maria and Denies.
Jane was a girl who was innocent and kind-hearted. She always tried to help others and never hurt anyone. But she was also often clumsy and so naive, which made her often get into trouble. Being an only child was not something she expected. There was no one to chat with and no one to joke with at home, making her feel very bored and lonely. So, her house was always quiet and silent. Fortunately, she had Maria and Denies. They were her best friends since childhood. They were always there to support and cheer up Jane. They also always stayed together, both at school and outside school.
Maria, a girl who was sweet and cheerful. She had short black shoulder-length hair, and shiny brown eyes. She always smiled and laughed, spreading her joy to others. She became friends with Jane since the first grade of elementary school. They both liked reading books and watching movies.
Denies, a man who was handsome and stylish. He had short blond hair that was messy, and captivating blue eyes. He always dressed fashionably and trendy, with his bag full of make-up tools. He dreamed of becoming a famous make-up artist. He became friends with Jane and Maria since the third grade of elementary school. The three of them liked to play and go out together.
As they were walking in the campus area, suddenly a figure appeared that surprised them. She was Angel, Jane's cousin who was also a student there. She wore a black leather jacket and blue jeans, with her red hair neatly tied like Barbie. She walked with a confident and arrogant style, while smiling broadly.
"Hi, new kids. Welcome to campus." Angel greeted them with a slightly excited voice.
The three of them turned to Angel who was already standing in front of them. Jane was shocked to see her cousin who rarely met there.
"You…" Jane said with a tone of disbelief.
"What? Hey! I'm your senior, you know. So, be careful with me." Angel said with a wicked smile and folded both her arms on her chest.
The three of them just rolled their eyes, too lazy to listen to Angel's words. They knew that Angel was the type of person who liked to bother and be a little mischievous. She also liked to feel superior and sometimes bossed others around. She was a member of the student executive board, which made her feel powerful.
"Alright, seniorr!" Denies teased Angel, with a mocking tone.
Angel was Jane's cousin who was a year older than her. They were not very close, because they rarely met. But Angel always considered Jane as her younger sister who had to be protected and guided. She also knew Maria and Denies, because they often played together when they were little.
"You know, I'm very happy you guys entered this campus. And today you came on time." Angel said, looking proud of her cousin and her friends who were diligent.
"Come on, follow me!" Angel continued, pulling Jane's hand followed by Maria and Denies.
She took them to the stage, where the welcoming event for new students would start tomorrow. There, they would meet many new people, including someone who would change Jane's life forever.
Angel dragged Jane and her two best friends to the spacious and magnificent auditorium. There, they saw a stage that was being neatly arranged by some other seniors. The stage was large, with red curtains hanging, and blinking lights. On the stage, there were some chairs, tables, and microphones arranged neatly. Next to the stage, there were some banners that read 'Welcome New Students' and 'My Campus, Your Campus, Our Campus'.
"That stage will be used for the peak event of the new student admission." Angel explained to Jane, because Jane kept looking amazed at the stage since she first entered the auditorium.
"Oh." Jane answered briefly, with a flat tone. She was not very interested in events like that. She preferred to read books or write stories in her room.
"Are they seniors just like you?" Maria asked, pointing with her eyes to the seniors who were busy working.
"Yes, you are right." Angel answered, proudly. She felt happy to be part of an active and solid campus community.
"Then how come you don't join them in tidying up this place?" Maria asked, putting on a mocking face. She knew that Angel was a lazy person and liked to enjoy the work of others.
"Mariaaaa…" Angel whined, putting her index finger in front of Maria's face. She didn't like being asked like that.
"I've told you, be careful with your senior here." Angel continued, narrowing her eyes, trying to scare Maria.
"Alright, my senior." Maria teased, sticking out her tongue, showing that she was not afraid at all.
Jane and Denies just smiled, seeing Maria who kept teasing Angel. They knew that Maria and Angel often acted like that when they met. They also knew that Angel was not bad, she just liked to joke.
Then after that, Angel mentioned one by one the names of all her friends who were in the auditorium, pointing with her index finger. She introduced them to Jane, Maria, and Denies, from a distance.
"That's Tony, Rey, Robby and Bara…" suddenly Angel lowered her voice. "He's my ex-boyfriend." she continued, with a weak tone and a sad look.
"Who? Which one?" Denies asked curiously. He wanted to know who had been Angel's boyfriend, who was famous for being beautiful and popular.
"That one, his name is Bara." pointing to Bara who was sitting with Robby. Bara was a tall and athletic man. He had dark brown hair that was neat, and bright brown eyes that were sharp. He dressed casually, with a white shirt and blue jeans.
"Hmm, Not bad…" Denies replied, looking at Bara. He admitted that Bara was a handsome and attractive man.
Not only Denies, but Angel also looked at Bara with a sad expression. She still had feelings for Bara, even though she had broken up with him. She regretted leaving Bara for Mike. She knew that Bara was a good and loyal man, who always loved her sincerely. But she also knew that Bara had forgotten her, and had a new girlfriend.
"Do you guys know, he is very kind. And I feel very guilty for leaving him for Mike. Well, even though slowly Bara understood that. But still, I feel bad for him." Angel said, suddenly telling her past. She wanted to share her regret with Jane and her two best friends.
"That means you are a traitor!" Jane said to Angel, with a firm tone. She didn't like Angel's attitude of cheating and hurting others like that.
