Chapter 67

The governor knelt down before me and apologized then he barged out of my chambers. The whole time I was going through the rough patch Queen Mother was the one running things at the palace, she was attending secret council meetings, solving people's cases which were brought in and I wondered if that wasn't the best role for her.

Every morning I woke up I was disappointed that I wasn't dead already, the feeling of going through what I was going all over again felt like a heavy burden which I would never be lifted off. The people of Leilani named me "The Mad Queen" after the Queen Mother spread rumors of my suicide attempts.

I went from being the Queen of the people to a mad Queen, even the streets of Luo which I gave my all to help them turned their backs on me - I had no one. Or I thought I hadn't until one particular morning Lee knocked in my chambers holding a tray with a plate filled with cookies and a gallon of milk.
