Chapter 3
It was a man, a handsome man dressed from head to toe in white. He stepped from the hole onto the grass with cautious confidence. He took a small gadget from his pocket and pointed it at the hole in the fence and immediately the hole disappeared. He then slipped the gadget back into his pocket and surveyed the area.
“You can come out now,” he said. “I won’t hurt you.”
Julian gasped.How could the man have possibly seen him?
“You’re not very good at hiding,” said the man with a chuckle. “I can see your foot. And your shoulder. And the top of your head.”
Julian looked down and saw that his foot was indeed poking out beyond the edge of the trunk. He rolled his eyes then gingerly appeared from behind the tree.
“How did you do that?” Julian asked.
The man glanced over his shoulder. “What? Come through into your world like that?”
Julian nodded hesitantly.
“Oh, it’s easy,” said the man. “Do it all the time.”
