Cold Remnant

Whelp, Weiss has been avoiding me, well, more than usual, anyway. After the weekend, the snow princess has been making an effort to sit as far away as she can during classes and lunch when I bothered attending. If I sit at one end of the classroom, she sits at the other end, and during lunch, she even sits away from her teammates to keep her distance from me. It does not surprise me, honestly, considering how much I bullied her verbally by airing out her embarrassing bits from her dreamscape. I may have to apologize to her later.

Weiss aside, Glynda is not happy with me either, as I kept on skipping classes despite coming to detention after classes were over. The strict professor decided to test me on all end-of-the-fourth-year material to see if I was speaking the truth about studying in advance, and I, of course, aced all the written tests. She was surprised but still told me it was not an excuse to skip classes and kept on giving me detention. During my time in her office, I got a general idea of what sort of paperwork she goes through and worked on making her a robot assistant to ease her workload.

Time flew by as midterms got closer, and I felt my Nightmare finish constructing my dreamscape. I now only had to give the order, and I would sleep. First, however, I need to corner Weiss so I can apologize to her for going too far in my teasing her. I waited for lunch and made it a point to follow the snow princess closely. Of course, she kept trying to distance herself from me, but I would not leave her alone. Our merry chase led us a reasonable distance away from the cafeteria until I cornered her onto a balcony.

I called out to her.

" Weiss."

She did not reply back as she kept on looking for an escape route, and I sighed as I figured I might have to use more... Forceful methods to pin her down. Before she could react, I used Flash Step to close the distance and instantly grab her arm. Weiss then demanded.

" Unhand me, you degenerate!"

" Weiss, can I at least say something?"

I gently asked, and she curtly replied.

" What?"

" I am sorry for going too far in teasing you about your dream during the Nightmare incident."

" What?"

The snow princess looked at me in confusion, and I pointed out her current actions.

" You have been avoiding me. Well, more than usual."

" I haven't been-."

" Weiss, you had me chase you so I could give you an apology."

She looked away from me and said quietly.

" I'm not angry about that..."

" Then why are you putting so much effort into avoiding me?"

" Because..."

Weiss did not finish her sentence and kept on avoiding eye contact with me. I appealed to her as sweetly as I could.

" Weiss, please tell me what's the matter."

" It's nothing..."

At her reply, I asked.

" Will you stop avoiding me so much then?"

The snow princess kept silent for a few moments before nodding. I let her go and decided not to pry as she clearly did not want to give me the reason as to why she was avoiding me if she wasn't upset with how much I teased her. My Scroll gave me an alert, and I got a text message from Winter. I grinned as my favorite ice queen had time off and wanted to spend some time together. I looked at Weiss as she did not run off after I let her go and had a thought to invite her to come along for a day to see her sister. I texted Winter back to ask how she felt about Weiss coming along, and she was all for it.

I invited the snow princess.

" Hey, Weiss, Winter got some time off for this weekend. Do you want to come with me while I visit her?"

" Winter!? Absolutely!"

Weiss replied excitedly, as I knew she had not seen her elder sister in a while and missed her. I grinned and said.

" I'll see you this weekend, then."

I turned and left the snow princess alone.

After the excitement of going to see Winter wore off, Weiss started to blush as she recalled how sweetly Silva called her name when he grabbed her. Part of her hated how much she liked how the snow leopard man sounded when calling her name like that. The snow princess placed her hand over her heart and could feel it pounding from how her crush was so close to her. She groaned and complained.

" Why did I have to...!"

Weiss has done her best never to openly think or say her feelings toward Silva because if she felt that she did, then she would no longer be able to deny it. The snow princess sighed as she complained some more.

" Why did it have to be him?"

Her mind and heart were at war with each other at how her feelings turned out. Weiss did take consolation in the fact she would soon be able to visit her beloved sister and went back to get herself some lunch with her team.

Silva hummed a happy tune as he waited for Weiss to show up to go to Winter. It had been a while since he saw his favorite ice queen since she was busy with her military career at her post in Mistral. The snow leopard man considered visiting her more often since he skipped classes on a regular basis especially considering he set up his favorite ice queen with a place under her name with his money that was not too far from the Atlas embassy/military base. He found it odd that a foreign embassy and military base could be one and the same in his vast experience traveling through the multiverse.

Silva chalked it up to the fact that after the Great War of Remnant, it was not only the monarchies and nobles that got dissolved but their armies as well, which led to the rise of Huntsmen and Huntresses that was now today. After all, the councils of the four kingdoms have only been around for less than a century. Weiss finally showed up with a travel bag in hand, and Silva opened a portal to Winter then said.

" Well, let's go see how Winter is, shall we?"

The snow princess did not answer and immediately went through the portal. The snow leopard man soon followed and saw the residence he had set up for his favorite ice queen. It was an average Mistral-styled home that Silva had picked out with Winter. The ice queen was out in front of her door in casual clothing, blue jeans, and a white shirt sleeve shirt with her hair down. She greeted her younger sister and boyfriend.

" It's good to see you, Weiss, Silva."

" Winter, you look... Different."

Weiss said with confusion, as she had never seen her sister in casual clothing or even semi-formal wear, let alone with her hair down. Silva grinned as he complimented her.

" Winter, you look lovely as always."

" And you appear rather slovenly as usual, Silva."

" I call it looking casual and unkempt."

The rapport between the snow leopard man and the ice queen was something they had developed over time. They lightly bickered in jest.

" So, are you getting used to not having a stick up your butt?"

Winter snorted at Silva, then bit back.

" Have you actually taken anything seriously at Beacon?"

" Honestly, no. Studying ahead has been a curse since my classes are making me bored to death, so I have taken to skipping most of them and only showing up for tests. But I am getting detention with my favorite teacher as a bonus."

The ice queen sighed and wryly smiled at the snow leopard man's antics. Weiss watched the two and felt an uncomfortable feeling in her chest, so she changed the topic.

" Shouldn't we head inside?"

Winter and Silva looked at Weiss, then at each other, and the snow leopard man shrugged casually to convey he was good with whatever the ice queen wanted. Winter then invited her guesses inside.

" Come in. I want to hear about everything you two have been up to."
