Mixing Potions

"So... are we going to talk about your father or are you just going to keep on acting like nothing happened?" asked Lucas as he looked at Lucinda with a raised eyebrow.

Lucinda looked back at Lucas and sighed "What do you want me to say?" she said

"Well at least give me some details of what he said, and are you yourself okay? I know it must not have been easy to see him again after all these years" said Lucas as he sat down on the bed, next to Lucinda.

"In the end all I am worried about is you" said Lucas as he caressed Lucinda's cheek.

" *Sigh* Luke, I am fine, I am not a child anymore, I am an adult and if my father doesn't accept us then that's his problem, because I am the happy, with you and the children, you all are my family" said Lucinda as she smiled.

"Aww Lucy" said Lucas as he hugged Lucinda.

"But he wants me to go back home" said Lucinda

"Sure, we can go visit him whenever you want" said Lucas as he broke their hug.

"Your the best Luke" said Lucinda as she kissed him.

"Haha I know" said Lucas with a smug look on his face and Lucinda laughed.

"So what about the children, I know that they would want to meet their other Grandfather and Grandmother too" said Lucas

"I mean your father was open to meeting the children, but we both know how stiff my father can be" said Lucinda

"But regardless, I agree with you, the children should meet my parents, but not for now, at least let's give it a week, so my father can calm down" said Lucinda

"Whatever you say my queen" said Lucas as he smiled and kissed the back of Lucinda's hand.

"Haha" laughed Lucinda

Meanwhile in Annie and Maddie's room, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in" said Annie

"Uhhhh hey Matt, what's up" said Maddie as she looked at Matt as he entered their room.

"Nothing much Maddie" replied Matt

"What's up with you?" asked Maddie

"Ehhh, just the same" said Matt

Meanwhile Annie was just sitting and looking at Maddie and Matt, when did they become so chill, with each other?

Matt finally seemed to notice Annie, who was sitting on the chair of the dressing table.

"Hi Annie" said Matt

"Haha Hi Matt" said Annie

"So how is your training so far?" asked Matt

"Ehh, it's going good" said Annie

"Really?" asked Matt

"Yes Matty boy, in fact Annie's new teacher is actually her great uncle" said Maddie as she was playing with her hair.

"Wow that's very surprising" said Matt

"Haha yes it is" said Annie as she laughed.

"So what are you reading?" asked Matt as he saw that Annie was very focused on reading a very unfamiliar book that looked very old.

"Ahh, it's a basic potions book" said Annie

"Uncle Captious gave it to me, and I have to read at least 5 chapters so I can catch up" said Annie

"Ahhh I see" said Matt

"It looks very cool" said Matt

"Haha yes it is, I am reading about many different and weird ingredients" said Annie

"Like for example the first chapter is all about frogs" said Annie as she laughed

"And some of the ingredients here are frog eyes, and slime and tear" said Annie as she showed Matt a picture of a frog that was in the book.

"That's so cool" said Matt

"Haha yes it is, and tomorrow we are going to mix potions" said Annie

"Wow, that is also very cool, I wish I could come" said Matt

"Haha, you can, I can just ask Uncle Captious if he can let you and Maddie watch" said Annie

"Haha okay, Thank you" said Matt

"Your welcome" said Annie as she smiled.

"Hey guys does my hair look okay?" asked Maddie as she was looking at a mirror

"Haha what do you mean?" asked Annie as she laughed.

"It looks good" said Matt

"Yes Matt is right" said Annie

"Well after what your sister did to my hair" said Maddie as she looked at Matt

"I just have to check to be sure" said Maddie

"Haha I think you are overreacting" said Annie

"Oh am I?" asked Maddie

"Because just yesterday she pulled a fake spider prank on me" said Maddie

"Haha that does sound like Evie" said Matt as he laughed

"You two should really stop playing pranks on each other, it will blow up in your faces soon" said Annie

"Annie I say that you and I stay out of it, they will solve it on their own" said Matt as he looked at Annie

"Are you sure?" asked Annie

"Yes I am, trust me, when Evie starts something she doesn't stop until she gets burnt so let's leave it at that" said Matt

"Okay if you say so" said Annie

"Anyway let me leave you to concentrate on your studying so see you" said Matt

"Okay bye Matt" said Annie

"Bye" said Maddie.

"Maddie look at this" said Annie as she showed Maddie a picture in the book.

"What?" asked Maddie

"My gosh, this is a spider's eyes, how does someone even get this?" asked Annie in surprise.

"I don't know?? maybe they used magic to extract the eye?" said Maddie as she laughed.

"Wow, I am shocked, potions are very dangerous, not only are what they do dangerous but also what they are made off" said Annie

"Haha that is true" said Maddie

"So how far are you? In the book?" asked Maddie

"Well I am on Chapter 3 now, which is about spiders" said Annie as she explained.

"Ahhh okay then, let me leave you to studying, I am bored, so I am going to play with the twins" said Maddie as she tied her hair in a ponytail.

"Ahh okay then, have fun" said Annie

"Thank you, I will, and you too" said Maddie as she waved and closed the door behind her.

The Next day.

"Good Morning Uncle Captious" said Annie as she walked into his office after she knocked.

"Ahh Good Morning Annie, how are you?" asked Captious

"I am very good Uncle and how are you?" asked Annie

"I am doing well" said Captious

"So have you finished your homework?" asked Captious

"Yes Uncle, I read all the chapters you said that I should read" said Annie

"Good, then you should be familiar with some basic potion ingredients" said Captious

"Yes Uncle" replied Annie

"Great, now let's go to the lab now" said Captious

"Okay Uncle, Ahh Uncle before we go, can my friends please come along? they have never made potions before and they say that they want to watch" said Annie

"Sure dear, they can come, you can go and get them, and you can ask Adrian to take you to the lab" said Captious

"Haha Okay Thank you Uncle" said Annie as she smiled.

"Run along now, and meet me in the lab soon" said Captious as he smiled.

"Okay Uncle see you" said Annie as she left Captious Office.

"Hey Maddie, Matt good news Uncle Captious said that you guys can come watch" said Annie as she found Maddie and Matt in the lounge.

"Oooh that's so cool, let's go" said Maddie

"Well that was fast, your uncle is nice" said Matt

"Haha yes he is, let's goo" said Annie as she laughed.

"Ahh Adrian, can you please take us to the lab?" asked Annie as she called to Adrian who was passing by.

Adrian looked in the direction he heard his name being called.

"Sure, follow me" he said ever so seriously.

Adrian was always serious, with his short brown hair and brown eyes, and not to mention his short stature, Annie was a bit taller than him, he had to be the shortest witch in all the witch realm.

Adrian walked very swiftly in the direction of the lab, Annie, Maddie and Matt, had to walk fast to keep up with him, Annie once again saw the familiar hallway that she walked through yesterday, but this was a new area for Maddie and Matt.

"Pstt Annie, can you hear me?" asked Maddie in Annie's mind as they were walking.

"Haha yes I can, and why are you whispering?" asked Annie as she laughed

"Well I don't know?" laughed Maddie

"Hey Matt" said Maddie as she linked Matt to the mind link.

"Hi Maddie, what is it?" asked Matt calmly as by now, all of them were used to popping into each other's heads without warning.

"Hii, anyway I was just about to ask Annie what we should call her great Uncle" said Maddie

"Hmmm that is true, good thinking Maddie" said Matt as they all continued walking.

"Haha okay, well I think... yes he's a Professor, so you should call him Professor Captious" said Annie

"Haha Okay, got it Professor Captious" said Maddie

"Anyway let me break the mind link" said Maddie

"Bye" said Annie and Matt

"We are here" said Adrian

"Okay Thank you Adrian" said Annie as she smiled

"Yes Thank you" said Maddie and Matt

"You are welcome" said Adrian as he walked to the door and opened it, as he walked in.

"Hello Uncle" said Annie as she followed behind Adrian.

"Hello Annie" said Captious as he seemed to be preparing some vials.

"I brought my friends Uncle" said Annie as she smiled.

"Good Morning Professor" said Matt and Maddie respectfully.

"Ahhh Good Morning children" said Captious as he smiled.

"Professor" said Adrian as he nodded

"Adrian" said Captious as he nodded back.

"Ahh I need to drink water, my throat feels very dry" muttered Maddie to herself but Adrian seemed to hear her.

"I will take my leave now" said Adrian

"Okay then" said Captious and Adrian walked out of the room.

"Here" said Captious as he handed Annie, Maddie and Matt each a pair of white rubber gloves.

"Wear those" said Captious

"Okay Uncle" said Annie as she wore the gloves

"Before we start just a disclaimer" said Captious

"You all have to be careful, if you get cut by anything immediately inform me, or if I am not around, do not let any pint of blood get into the potion you are brewing, am I clear" said Captious

"Yes" said Annie, Maddie and Matt

"Because if you are not careful and that happens, you risk making witches brew" said Captious as he saw the confused look on their faces.

"You don't know what Witches Brew is?" asked Captious and Annie, Maddie and Matt replied with a nod.

Captious sighed, but it was best that he explained to them less they accidentally harm themselves or others, it was really evident now that they were not raised in the Witch Realm, almost every witch knew about witches brew and it's consequences.

"Okay then, let me explain, Witches Brew is the deadliest poison in our realm, and it's key ingredient Witches blood, not only is the poison very deadly to other creatures, but also to we witches ourselves, and hence why it is very dangerous" explained Captious

"So do you understand now?" asked Captious

"Yes Uncle" said Annie

"Yes professor Captious" said Maddie and Matt

"Good, now let us being" said Captious, but before they could, there was an interruption.

Adrian had entered the lab with a jug of water and a glass cup in his hand, he put the glass jug on the table and poured water, and handed it to Maddie.

Everyone was surprised.

"For me?" asked Maddie

"Yes, you are thirsty are you not?" asked Adrian

"Yes, I am, Thank you" said Maddie as she smiled, but inside she was a bit suspicious of Adrian's behavior.

"Maybe he's just being thoughtful?" thought Maddie

"Yes, that must be it" she reassured herself.

"You are welcome" said Adrian as he placed the jug on the table.

"You may carry on Professor" said Adrian as he bowed.

"Mhmm" said Captious as Adrian walked out of the room.

"Anyway let us continue" said Captious

"The first potion we will make is an invisibility potion" said Captious as he finally got through to starting his lesson.

"So Annie, can you tell me what the key ingredient of the potion would be?" asked Captious as he was trying to find out if she really did her homework.

"Ahh we would need chameleon scales" said Annie

"Very good, yes chameleon scales" said Captious as he was proud.

"What are your names?" asked Captious as his question was directed to Matt and Maddie

"Maddie professor" said Maddie

"Matt" said Matt

"Okay then Maddie and Matt go get some vials from that table" said Captious

"You too Annie" said Captious

"Okay" replied Annie as she along with Maddie and Matt went to one of the tables in the lab a took a vial each.

"Good" said Captious as he had a bottle of a strange clear liquid in his hand and he poured a little amount into each of their vials

"Professor, what is that liquid?" asked Maddie in curiosity.

"Ahh, it's hagfish slime, it's the most important component for any potion" explained Captious

"Ahh okay" said Maddie

"Now in the box next to you, you should see some chameleon scales" said Captious

Annie took the lead on this once, since she was the only one who knew what the chameleon scales looked like, she put her hand in the box and puled out a transparent bag with transparent flakey like scales.

"Now put the chameleon scales in the vial" said Captious

It was a good thing that they were wearing gloves because they would not normally touch these ingredients.

Annie dipped her hand in the bag and gave Matt and Maddie each one scale and they all put it in their vials.

"Now we need a dried petal of a red carnation" said Captious and Annie once again found the item and gave one each to Matt and Maddie.

This went on for a while, Captious would call out a name of the ingredient that they needed and Annie would find it and give one to Maddie and Matt.

"A dried Lilypad" called Captious and Annie got the item.

"The sucker of an octopus' tentacle" said Captious and Annie got the item.

Before long the potion was complete, after Captious zapped it with a bright light and the potion had a red colour and it seemed to be bubbling.

"The potion is complete, it is now time to test it" said Captious

"Umm wait Professor are we going to have to drink this?" asked Maddie in disgust she could not imagine drinking this concoction after what they had added inside it even Annie and Matt agreed with her.

"No dear girl, I purposely made it a splash potion" said Captious

"Phew" said Maddie

"So who will volunteer to test it?" asked Captious

Both Annie and Maddie simultaneously looked at Matt.

"Oh no" said Matt as he noticed the girls looking at him.

It was understandable that they wanted Matt to test it, I mean he was the stronger breed here, if there was something wrong with the potion it would not affect him since he was half-vampire.

"Okay fine" said Matt as he sighed he knew that the girls would not let him off easily.

Matt took the potion and was about to break it when he heard Maddie call

"Matt move further away" she said as she and Annie moved further away from him.

Matt looked annoyed but moved further away and he dropped the vial on the floor and it broke, and with it the potion.

"Did it work?" asked Matt as he coughed from the dust made by the potion

"My gosh Matt your invisible" said Maddie

"Yes yes it worked" said Annie

"Wow really" said Matt as he laughed, but the happiness was short lived because Matt became visible once again.

"What?? wait what happened??" asked Maddie

"Haha my girl, the potion was a level 1 potion, it would not last more than mere seconds" said Captious as he laughed at Maddie's reaction

"Then what do we have to do, to make the potion last longer?" asked Annie

"Well it would need more ingredients and more magic" said Captious

"Awww" said Maddie

"But at least it worked" said Annie as she smiled.

"Well children, I think that is enough for today" said Captious

"Okay uncle, let us help you clean up" said Annie

"No dear it's fine, you can all go" said Captious

"Are you sure Professor?" asked Maddie

"Yes I am, not run along" said Captious

"Okay then see you later Uncle" said Annie as she removed her gloves and so did Maddie and Matt.

"See you later Professor" said Maddie and Matt

"Goodbye children" said Captious as he smiled, it was rejuvenating to spend time with the younger generation.
