Hugs, Kisses and Rainbows

"Ughh I can't sleep" said Maddie as she turned on her bed to look at Annie.

"Haha me too" said Annie as she turned to face Maddie, there was a huge gap between their beds.

"So what are you thinking about?" asked Maddie

"Well nothing much, just how things were and how they are right now" replied Annie

"And what about you?" asked Annie

"Nothing much, the same as you, but I just can't sleep" said Maddie

Truth be told, Maddie was thinking about many things, her so called mother, her father in name, and how she was unfortunately related to two people who caused the whole Witch realm to be at a standstill.

"Haha well then what do you usually do when you can't sleep?" asked Annie as she rested her back on the headboard.

"Well I usually watch cat videos on my phone till I fall asleep" said Maddie as she laughed.

"Then why don't you do that?" asked Annie as she laughed.

"Haha I can't, there is no Wi-Fi here remember" said Maddie as she waved her phone that had a green floral pattern phone case.

"Oh right, I forgot" said Annie as she laughed

"Mhm and I have also finished watching all the cat videos that I downloaded" said Maddie

"Ahh I see" said Annie

"Why do you like cat videos anyway?" asked Annie, as she was curious to why Maddie liked cat videos so much, if someone else had told her about Maddie's obsession she would not have believed it, to her Maddie seemed too serious for those.

"Well when I was little all I wanted was a cute little kitten, then one day I was playing in the forest (Don't ask why)" said Maddie

"Haha okay" said Annie

"So I was playing in the forest, when I saw a little cute stray kitten, it had dark fur, and it was just a baby, I rescued it from falling from a tree, I guess that the mother put it up there" said Maddie

"I rushed home, with the kitten in my arms, and I begged my mother in name to keep it, and she told me I should go ask Azazel" said Maddie

"So I summed up all my courage and I went to ask him" said Maddie

"Do you know what he said?" asked Maddie as she looked at Annie, and Annie kept quiet and replied with a nod.

"Well he said, that pets were a sign of weakness, they caused you to loose yourself, he said that I was his daughter and I had to act like it" said Maddie

"That was perfectly fine, I was used to him saying that over and over again, but what he did to the kitten broke my heart" said Maddie as she looked like she was about to cry but she didn't.

"What did he do?" asked Annie

"He killed it, he killed the poor innocent thing, I shouldn't have brought it home with me, I begged him to let it go and leave it, but he didn't, he said that it's only through death that I could learn to be strong" said Maddie as she clenched her fists, remembering the bad memory.

"Maddie, I'm so sorry" said Annie

"Haha, why are you sorry?? you weren't the one who killed it" said Maddie as she laughed.

"Anyway, when I got my phone, I started watching cat videos as a way to rebel and do what I want, you know" said Maddie as she laughed.

"It was actually a win-win, because I got to see those cute kitties, and well Azazel never found out, because he hates cats for dome odd reason" said Maddie as she laughed.

"I am very sure that he hates everything" said Annie as she laughed.

"Haha that is true" said Maddie as she laughed.

"Welp I am sure that neither of us are sleeping anytime soon, so I suggest we do something fun" said Maddie

"Oooh Okay, like what??" asked Annie

"I have no idea" laughed Maddie

"Haha" said Annie

"Oooh but do you want to see something cool?" asked Maddie

"Haha of course" said Annie, and Maddie literally rolled off her bed to the floor, and she took something wrapped in a red cloth from under her bed.

"Matt gave me one of his daggers today hehe" said Maddie as she laughed and walked towards Annie.

"Just how many daggers does Matt have??" asked Annie as at this point she was extremely concerned.

"I don't know, I guess a few of them, because all his daggers are kept in a small wooden box" said Maddie as she sat on Annie's bed.

She unwrapped the cloth around it and it revealed a shiny straight dagger, with a green coloured scabbard that had different swirly silver patterns on it.

"Oooh it looks so cool" said Annie

"Haha it is, and it's in my favourite colour too" said Maddie as she laughed.

"Haha yes" said Annie as she laughed.

"This is the kind of weapon that I could use to kill all my not so hidden enemies" said Maddie

"Umm Maddie, is it only me, or does that sound, just a bit too violent??" said Annie as she smiled sheepishly.

"And so what if it is? that's what I want to do, and no one can change that" said Maddie as she was holding her new dagger delicately.

"But Maddie you don't possible want to have someone's blood on your hands?" asked Annie as she was worried.

"Well the people I want to kill, are not people, so I would be doing the world good by killing them" said Maddie.

"Regardless of that, killing people is not something that you should joke with, it's lives we are talking about" said Annie

"Who said anything about joking?" asked Maddie

"I am dead serious" said Maddie as she turned to look at Annie, and Annie knew that she was very dead serious by the serious look she had in her eyes.

"But-" said Annie

"But nothing Annie, you cannot change my mind on this" said Maddie

"Look you are innocent and sweet, and that's what I admire most about you, but not everything can be solved by hugs, kisses and rainbows, sometimes you have to fight for your freedom" said Maddie.

Annie was quiet... she knew that Maddie had a point, and she did not blame Maddie for her way of thinking, she only knew a glimpse of how terrible it was for Maddie when she was growing up, and she was sure that her thought process was like that because of her family.

There was nothing wrong with that, but it was the fact that she was letting herself be overcome with negative emotions that would make her not to think rationally that worried Annie.

"Look Maddie, you're right, you don't think that I know that not everything can be solved peacefully, Oh I do" said Annie as she herself was also not feeling very well, the thought of Armand killing her got her thinking, and he could not possibly be the only one that thought that she was the main problem of the Witch world.

If Armand was so confident to kill her, then that meant that he had many more people backing him up, he was very confident that killing her would end Azazel's reign of terror, maybe it would, maybe it would not.

But all Annie knew was that she needed to be careful, and she had to prove to everyone and herself that she would be able to beat Azazel and end all this once and for all.

"Maddie, you cannot let hatred and anger fuel your thoughts, you need to calm down, and stop thinking about revenge" said Annie

This time it was Maddie's turn to stay quiet.

"I know" she said softly

"But I just can't help it" she said

"I know, but you can, you just need to try" said Annie

"Okay sheesh, stop making me feel bad now, anyway that's enough talking for today, I am very tired, so goodnight" said Maddie as she stood up, and wrapped her dagger and put it back in it's place and she climbed into bed.

"Haha Goodnight" said Annie

"Yeah yeah" mumbled Maddie, how come she had to start feeling guilty, so not fair, Annie was too good at convincing.

Meanwhile in Stella's Office.

Stella was still as busy as ever, but she stopped writing and she looked up from her desk.

"Are you going to keep on standing there, or are you going to come in?" she said as she looked at the entrance.

"How did you know that I was here?" came a familiar male voice.
