Confrontation

Meanwhile back in the Palace.

"Good Morning Professor Sapiens" said Annie as she entered his Office.

"Mhmm morning" said Sapiens as he never acknowledged her greetings, at this point Annie was used to his replies.

"Go sit there and study, when you are done we will do your oral" said Sapiens

"Yes Professor" said Annie as she went to sit down and she opened her book to where she was to read.

Sapiens was looking at he like he usually did, but little did he know that she was mentally preparing herself to confront his behavior towards her.

Meanwhile in Maddie's room.

Maddie was bored, she had nothing to do and nowhere to go, Evie that usually used to trouble her was not around and so where Levi and Matt.

Maddie didn't know why, but her feet moved to Matt's room and before she could stop herself she knocked on the door.

"What do you want" said Curtis as he opened the door.

"Ahh well a hello to you as well" said Maddie and Curtis almost closed the door in her face.

"Wait, how could you just be so rude?" asked Maddie as she held the door.

"What do you want?" asked Curtis once again as he opened the door.

"I am bored" said Maddie

"And how does that concern me?" asked Curtis

"Well I would not be here too, except for the fact that everyone else is gone and Annie is busy and I am bored so you are my last option" said Maddie

Curtis didn't reply all he did was leave the door and he went back to what he was doing, which gave Maddie the opportunity to sneak in to the room.

Maddie looked around, this was the first time that she was in the boy's room it looked the same as theirs, the only difference was that instead of them having two separate beds they had a bunk bed.

"As you can see I am busy" said Curtis

"Yeah right, busy doing what?? aren't you a book?? what exactly are you busy with?" asked Maddie but Curtis just stayed quiet.

"Ooooh I have an Idea, let's play a game" said Maddie

"What kind of game?" asked Curtis

"Snakes and Ladders!" said Maddie

"No" said Curtis

"Why not?" asked Maddie and Curtis did not reply.

"You know what?? you are so not fair" said Maddie

"You are Annie's Guardian and friend and I am Annie's best friend, which means that you have to be nice to me, it's what Annie would want" said Maddie as she played the Annie card, because at the end of the day all Curtis cared about was Annie.

"Fine, let's play" said Curtis

"Ahhhh yayyyyyyy really??" said Maddie

"Wait, let me go get it" said Maddie as she ran back to her room to get the game, before Curtis changed his mind.

You might be wondering where Maddie got the snakes and ladders game from? well the truth was that she packed it with her when she escaped from the Wolf Manor, not many people know it but Maddie loved bored games and one of her favourites were snakes and ladders, she did not have a reason to play it, but now she did and she was not going to waste it.

"Haha here it is" said Maddie as she rushed back to Curtis, she sat on the floor and crossed her legs over each other, and she placed the board in front of her.

"So how do you play?" asked Curtis

"Haha well you see we have these dice and we roll them to determine how many blocks you move, if you land on a snake you have to go down the snake" explained Maddie

"Seems easy enough, so let's play" said Curtis

"Okay, you get to role the dice first" said Maddie

"I got a 6" said Curtis

"Then move 6 spaces" said Maddie and Curtis moved his piece

"My turn" said Maddie as she took the dice from the board and rolled it.

"Hehe I got 12" laughed Maddie

"How is that possible?" asked Curtis

"I am very good at this game" said Maddie as she moved her piece

They continued to play until Curtis rolled a 3 and landed on a snake head.

"Hahaah you have to go back down now" said Maddie as she laughed triumphantly

"Hmm" said Curtis as he was annoyed, he was getting took much into this game.

"Just roll" he said

Maddie rolled a 6 and she too, went down

"Who's going down now?" asked Curtis as he smiled

"Oh quiet" said Maddie

"Well it seems that I am beginning to win" said Curtis as he was ahead and Maddie kept on loosing to the snakes.

Wasn't this Curtis' first time playing? there was no way he was going to beat her, she was going to make sure of it.

"Yeah yeah don't get too cocky now" said Maddie as she rolled and got a 3

"Haha am I now? because you are loosing once again" said Curtis with a smug look on his face.

"Mhmm" said Maddie as Curtis rolled the dice.

"And I have just won" said Curtis as he looked triumphant.

"Ahhh it's beginners luck, and also as the good person that I am, I let you win" said Maddie

"Oh so considering that you let me win, you do now want a rematch?" asked Curtis

"Oh bring it on Curtis and this time I will beat you" said Maddie

"We will see" said Curtis as at this point he was getting very cocky.

Meanwhile in Sapiens Office

"It's time for your oral" said Sapiens

"Yes Professor" said Annie as she closed her book and stood up and she stood right in front of Sapiens desk.

"In a scenario when you are in a dark room, closed up, there is not heat emanating anywhere, the room is stuffy and freezing and you have to get out of the room within the next 10 seconds what would you do?" asked Sapiens

"I would cast a light spell" said Annie

"Why?" asked Sapiens

"Because the room is dark and casting a light spell would help me to see, and the room is also cold, and the light spell does not only give light but it emanates heat as well" said Annie

"That is a good explanation, but what level of light spell would you cast?" asked Sapiens

"Remember you only have 10 seconds" said Sapiens

"I would cast a level 5 light spell" said Annie

"That is a stupid idea, not only would you faint when you are casting that spell considering your current power level, but one wrong move and the light spell could turn into a heat spell that would burn everything down to the ground" said Sapiens

"So it is clear that you would die in such a situation" said Sapiens

"But Professor" said Annie

"But nothing, next scenario" said Sapiens

"You are stuck in a jungle, you are weak and fatigued, there is no water anywhere and you are stranded, what would you do to survive?" asked Sapiens

"I would cast an alive spell on the vegetation around me" said Annie

"Why?" asked Sapiens

"Well because I am weak and fatigued and I clearly cannot move, If I cast an alive spell on the plants they would be able to carry me, plants know where water is since they store it in their roots and that would help be survive" said Annie

"That is an acceptable answer" said Sapiens

"What level of the spell would you cast?" asked Sapiens

For this question Annie began to think very carefully, the last time she said 5 she was reprimanded, so maybe this time she could go a little in the middle.

"I would cast a level 3 spell" said Annie

"Wrong answer" said Sapiens

"A level 3 spell is enough to give the plants free will, they would end up deserting you instead of helping you" said Sapiens

"So you fail once again" he said

"You are very irritating just like Alice, you can never learn from your mistakes" said Sapiens as he grumbled.

"Excuse me Professor, but you say that you knew my grandmother?" asked Annie simply.

"Knew her?? of course I knew her, she broke my heart" said Sapiens to himself.

"Yes I knew her" said Sapiens

"And what was she like?" asked Annie

"She had the brightest hair colour, her smile was infectious and she was always the prettiest in the room" said Sapiens without thinking.

"Really was she now?" asked Annie

"Yes, she could light up a room, just like she lit up my heart" said Sapiens but he kept that last part to himself.

"Was she friendly?" asked Annie

"Yes she was the friendliest, always helping people when she could, her favourite colour was yellow, which was the colour of her hair." said Sapiens

"Professor do you have a wife?" asked Annie

"Yes Of course I have a wife" said Sapiens

"What's her favourite colour?" asked Annie

"It's blue I suppose" said Sapiens

"You suppose?? so you are not sure?" asked Annie

"Well, she... wait, who are you to ask me such personal questions?" asked Sapiens as he eyed Annie.

"Professor Sapiens do you have a problem with me? because it seems like you do" said Annie

"That is none of your business" said Sapiens

"No I think it is, because you are being very unfair to me" said Annie

"Shut up" said Sapiens

"You know what I see is that you value the memory of a dead person more than that of your wife" said Annie and that seemed like it was enough for him.

Sapiens looked at Annie coldly, colder then he ever had before, if he could, he would have frozen her like an ice cube, scrap that frozen fish would do.

"Get out" he said calmly but coldly

Annie didn't need to be told twice, it was clear that she had overstepped her boundaries and he was not taking it well, she quickly rushed and got her book and he flew out of the room before Sapiens could try to hurt her.

She ran and ran till she was sure that she was safe, leaving Sapiens looking coldly in his Office.
