16. Playing Volleyball

Izumi went to school as usual. But on that day, he felt the tremendous effect of the nano brain chip he had just gotten from the rewards. Whatever the teacher said seemed to be instantly saved in his head as if the file was saved on a computer hard drive. Realizing this, he immediately learned the hand seals that would come in handy later.

After school was over, Izumi rushed home and changed clothes. Then, he headed to Karasuno High after he contacted Shouyou so he could join in playing volleyball.

Izumi peeked at the volleyball court first before he entered. And as he expected, the volleyball club members had already gathered. After that, he stepped inside.

"Hey Shouyou, Tobio, Ryuu-san, Suga-san."

"Miyamura." Shouyou, Ryuunosuke, and Sugawara Koushi said at the same time. Tobio also nodded at Izumi.

A short-haired guy said to Izumi.

"So you're Hinata's friend he always talks about? Let me introduce myself. My name is Sawamura Daichi. Nice to meet you."

"Likewise. You probably already know my name from Shouyou. But I will still introduce myself. I'm Miyamura Izumi from Katagiri High School."

Then, everyone introduced themselves one by one.

Sawamura Daichi asked Izumi.

"Do you want to play?"

Izumi turned to the captain.

"But, don't you want to test your new members? Besides, I haven't learned the rules of playing volleyball yet."

Daichi laughed in response.

"Hahaha. We're playing 3 vs 3. So we don't need any rules." Then, Daichi glanced at Ryuunosuke. "Tanaka, you will be replaced by Miyamura, it's fine right?"

Ryuunosuke nodded.

"Fine then."

"You will be on the same team as Hinata and Kageyama."

After that, Izumi walked toward Shouyou and Tobio. Then, Tobio said to Izumi.

"I know you're pretty quick to learn volleyball, but I don't know what level you're at. Try to keep up with our play!"

Izumi smirked and replied to him.

"Don't underestimate me. You'll be surprised that you can't keep up with my speed."

"I doubt it."

After a while, Izumi saw a girl with shoulder-length black hair walking toward the volleyball court. She had grey eyes with visible long eyelashes, a distinct mole located on the lower left side of her chin and she wore square-rimmed glasses.

"Hello, girlie. Nice to meet you." Izumi waved at that girl.

Ryuunosuke suddenly grabbed Izumi's shoulder.

"Oi boy, you dare to tease our Kiyoko-san, huh?"

"So, her name is Kiyoko, huh?" Izumi ignored Ryuunosuke and turned to Kiyoko.

"Nice to meet you Kiyoko-chan!" Izumi said with a smile.

Kiyoko nodded in response, then lowered her head in embarrassment.

Seeing Kiyoko's expression, not only Ryuunosuke, but the other seniors were also a bit furious.

"You bastard!! That's why I hate a handsome guy!"

Izumi got strangled by Ryuunosuke. However, ever since he had gotten stronger, he only felt Ryuunosuke shaking him and didn't feel that he was being strangled.

After a while, finally, the 3-on-3 game started.

Izumi stood behind Shouyou and Tobio. Meanwhile, across the net was Tsukishima Kei, a tall man with short blonde hair, pale skin, thin eyebrows, and golden brown eyes that were covered by his glasses. Beside him was Yamaguchi Tadashi, a young-looking man with an average build. He has dark grayish green hair with a haircut sticking out at the top. The last one was Daichi, a muscular guy with short black hair.

Before they started it, Tsukishima Kei provoked Tobio with a smug.

"Hey hey, who should we dest...ehem, block first? That newbie, or that shorty?"

Daichi and Tadashi just sighed, meanwhile, Tobio and Shouyou get annoyed by his attitude.

The match started with Daichi's serve. Izumi received the ball perfectly. Tobio lit his eyes. He approached the ball and tossed it toward Shouyou. But…

"Ah…"

Shouyou couldn't hit the ball. And a score for Daichi's team.

Izumi shook his head.

The match continued. Every time Tobio tossed toward Shouyou. Shouyou couldn't spike the ball properly.

"Is His Majesty King only at this level? Your King toss didn't work, but why did you force it?" Tsukishima Kei taunted Tobio as if picking a fight.

Tobio was silent, and at that moment, Shouyou asked.

"Hey, what do you mean by His Majesty King and King toss?"

Then, Kei told Shouyou.

"Do you know why he is called the King? It was because of the nonsensical tosses towards his teammates and he kept ordering his teammates to respond to the nonsensical tosses. That's why he's called the King. Not the King as you think, but the Dictator King. Once his teammates got annoyed with him, he was ostracized by his teammates. What a funny script."

The one who didn't know the story looked at Tobio who was still silent.

"It doesn't matter what kind of toss. I will spike it." Shouyou said with confidence.

"Nice said, Shouyou! It doesn't matter how Tobio plays. But he had to see the spiker first. Look at the spiker's abilities, what the spiker is good at, what tosses are suitable for that spiker, and can a setter like you bring out the spiker's abilities at 100%? Tobio was dumbfounded by what Izumi said. He didn't expect Izumi, who just started playing volleyball, to understand a lot. He pondered.

"Ahh what you said hurt my head. Anyway, just give me a toss!" Shouyou didn't care what Izumi said.

Suddenly Tobio looked at Shouyou. Then, he told Shouyou to jump as high as he could and just spike the ball. He even told Shouyou that he didn't need to look at the ball. It didn't even matter if Shouyou closed his eyes or not. As for the ball, Tobio would take care of it.

The match continued once again. Daichi served the ball. Izumi received the ball, and the ball bounced toward Tobio. Shouyou suddenly ran swiftly and jumped while in a spiking stance. Tobio focused on the ball and the jumping Shouyou, then he tossed the ball so quickly that it accurately landed on Shouyou's palm.

*bam*

Sudden silence occurred. Kei couldn't even react. Even Daichi, who was usually calm, couldn't believe the crazy thing that Shouyou and Tobio did just now. Shouyou just looked at his palm while all others looked at him.

"Hahaha, that was as incredible as I expected." Izumi's laugh broke the silence.

"Hinata, he… closed his eyes when he spiked, you know." What Daichi said surprised everyone. Even Tobio who gave a toss wasn't an exception.
