Chapter 9 - Ser-Veresta

The ownership of the Orga Lux 'Pandora' rests with the Seidoukan Academy, and its creator is none other than Ladislav Bartosik.

Claudia Enfield, the current wielder of 'Pandora,' holds the esteemed position of the student council president at Seidoukan Academy. It is not merely a weapon; it is a marvel of exceptional abilities coupled with an infamous reputation. According to its creator, 'Pandora' possesses the most troublesome of personalities.

These twin swords, distinguished by magenta and teal hues, boast an eerie design. The guards resemble eyes, combining to form a visage akin to a monstrous creature.

The key to 'Pandora's' prowess lies in its unique ability—'future vision.' This remarkable feature enables it to foresee upcoming trends within an undetermined time frame and anticipate any offensive maneuvers from adversaries.

However, this predictive power is confined to a 300-second window. The catch is that this time is stockpiled, meaning that if the user expends 10 seconds, they are left with 290 seconds of foresight. Regaining a second requires about three days, contingent upon the user maintaining their contract with 'Pandora.' Thus, strategic planning becomes crucial in utilizing its potential.

In exchange for manipulating the fabric of 'time,' the user must endure varied forms of death in their dreams, each representing a potential demise. Claudia shares that these dreams tend to dissipate upon awakening, leaving behind fragmented memories, the lingering fear and pain of nightmares, and an unsettling sense of malaise.

While the information regarding future deaths remains nebulous, the dream realm offers the ability to continually review past memories, potentially unveiling glimpses of the future.

Luke entertains the speculation that Claudia might have glimpsed him in one of her dreams, suggesting she possesses insights about him.

Without thinking much, Luke let Claudia go, and now the matter of 'Ser-Veresta' was more important.

At this moment, Fan Xinglu finds herself content. The student council president of Seidoukan Academy proves to be as cautious and cunning as reputed. The spectacle of this 'vixen' in an awkward situation is indeed a rare sight.

Fan Xinglu, sensing an unintentional acquisition of 'important information,' refrains from further probing into the matter. Approaching Luke, she pats him on the shoulder, asking, "What do you think? Are you willing to accept this agreement?"

Upon careful consideration, Luke perceives no harm in agreeing. Teaching a few students poses minimal challenge for him at this point. In fact, in terms of swordsmanship alone, Luke deems himself superior to Fan Xinglu.

Hence, Luke doesn't decline the offer and strides directly towards the central platform.

Both Fan Xinglu and Claudia refrain from following him, their gaze fixed on Luke, uncertain of whether he can secure Ser-Veresta's approval.

Should Luke fail to gain Ser-Veresta's approval, Fan Xinglu's plan to find a suitable weapon for Luke and Claudia's strategy to approach him would crumble.

The square, not overly expansive, witnesses Luke's arrival at Ser-Veresta's side in mere steps.

Gazing at the red and black hilt of the sword before him, Luke grasps it with minimal hesitation.

Infusing Prana into Ser-Veresta, the weapon unfurls from a hilt into a towering longsword with a pure white blade.

Simultaneously, the Main God Space presents an introduction to Ser-Veresta in front of Luke.

Possesses the ability to envelop the sword in purple-black flames, exhibiting extreme heat and destructive power. At its zenith, this ability manifests pure black flames of destruction.

Inherently defensible, Ser-Veresta can incinerate all in its path and exerts additional destructive effects on enemy weapons and equipment.

Legendary affixes:

Observing Ser-Veresta in hand, Luke, despite mental preparation, remains shocked by its capabilities. The revelation of two legendary affixes only amplifies his astonishment. It truly aligns with the weapon wielded by the original work's protagonist.

Weapons bearing legendary affixes harbor evolutionary potential. Each affix permits the weapon to evolve by at least one level.

With Ser-Veresta boasting two legendary affixes and a B+ rating, even at the lowest levels, it signals the potential growth into an A level weapon.

The second legendary affix, far from appearing low-level, adds to the rarity of Ser-Veresta. Such affixes are a genuine rarity, setting it apart from other Orga Lux Luke has encountered over the past two years, some of which are only at the C level.

As Ser-Veresta unfolds in Luke's grip, purple-black flames gradually envelop the sword. The once pure white blade transforms into a fittingly colored manifestation.

Concurrently, the Prana within Luke's body depletes at an alarming rate.

Though Luke's Prana reserves rank among the elite Genestellars, the consumption rate by Ser-Veresta's flames implies he might not sustain it for more than two hours, even without engaging in battle.

As the flames materialize, an electronic counter adjacent to Luke begins to register changes.

This counter serves to display the adaptation rate between Lux and their users. Only an adaptation rate exceeding 80% qualifies one to wield the Lux effectively. The higher the adaptation rate, the greater the weapon's potential use.

Sensing the intensifying drain on his Prana reserves, Luke glances at Ser-Veresta. To his relief, the flames gradually recede, returning the weapon to its original pure white state.

Trial and error reveal that if Ser-Veresta's flames remain dormant, the additional Prana consumption is negligible. It functions similarly to an ordinary Lux in this regard.

Stowing away the Tachi-type Ser-Veresta, now a sword hilt, Luke retraces his steps towards Claudia and Fan Xinglu.

The adaptation rate displayed on the counter reaches exactly 100% at this moment!
