Prologue

"Mommy what is going on," Luna asked her mother as tears started to fill in her eyes and her heart started racing as she felt something was not right.

"Nothing is wrong baby we are going to be okay." Luna's mother Jasmin said. She was packing clothes in their suitcases in a hurry. "Right now you have to do mommy a favor," Jasmine said to her five-year-old daughter Luna.

Luna nodded her head with her lips curled down signaling a frown as she pout. "You are going to be a strong brave little girl for mommy okay baby. You are not going to let anyone bring you down or hurt you okay." Luna nodded. "Take this necklace." Jasmine gave her daughter a beautiful magical necklace with a violet stone in the middle of rustic gold with flowers around it.

"It will protect you. Whenever you need help and are at your worst. Just chant the following word. Okay." Jasmine massaged Luna's temple and repeated the following words. "Adgafshatsman marninfoem, Adgafshatsman marninfoem" She repeated this three more times while rubbing Luna's temple in circles.

She then held the necklace in her hands. "Protect my baby." She closed her eyes and a tear escaped. "Okay let's go, baby."

She held her child's hand and rushed down the stairs. They went out the front door and into the car. Jasmine put the bags in the boot and buckled Luna in her car seat.

There was a bright orange-yellow light coming from the distance. "Ohh no." Jasmine whispered."

She got into the car and began to drive as fast as possible. She drove for about an hour successfully escaping the mass of people With torches. They pass through a thick forest. Jasmine is heading towards a cabin of a sibling she hasn't talked to in a while. Her sister is going to take care of Jasmine and make sure she is safe.

Minutes away from the cabin they are ambushed by a pack of huge wolves. Varying from black to brown to grey and hazel. There were five wolves in the pack. The one in front was black there were two brown ones, one grey one and two hazel ones.

"Mommy I'm scared," Luna said to her mother.

"I know baby but I need you to hold your necklace and close your eyes Okay, count to 10 as soon as you hear the door bang."

Luna nodded without thinking twice she held her necklace and closed her eyes. No matter what she heard she kept her eyes closed. She heard screams she heard growls she heard bangs but she kept her eyes shut and started counting.

The sounds went on for a couple more minutes until there was total silence. She sat in her car seat clutching her necklace and squeezing her eyes shut. She heard the crunching of leaves and the sound getting louder with every step.

Soon the car door was opened and a dark-skinned woman who was in her thirties unbuckled Luna's seat belt. "Hi, baby my name is Scarlett I'm your mother's sister okay."

Luna removed her hand from her eyes. "Where is my mommy."

"She is in a better place, honey. You are going to live with me for a while." Luna felt safe in the presence of her Aunt Scarlett so she left with her. She did not understand what was going on at that moment so she just had to go with her gut feeling.

Scarlett picked up Luna and placed her on her hip. She walked deep into the forest until they came across a wooden cabin. Scarlett opened the door and they were welcomed with warmth and the smell of herbs.

She placed Luna down on the couch and went to prepare something for her to eat.

She made a sandwich and came back to the living room. "Here baby eat this. You probably starving." Without giving it second thought Luna began to devour the sandwich.

"Okay baby can you tell me what happened."

"My mommy was packing and she told me we are going to be okay. She put me in my chair in the car and she drove into the forest. Then we saw giant wolves and mommy told me to close my eyes."

"Okay honey can you tell me what those wolves looked like."

Luna nodded. "There was a black one, a grey one, then there were two brown ones and two light brown ones." Luna had a great memory and would observe everyone and every situation carefully

"Okay baby let's go get you ready for bed."

Scarlett tucked Luna in for bed and went on to do her own thing
