Ep 20

"What's wrong with you?" Vall looked at Cloe, sitting close to her table.

Cloe finally caught the stubborn girl's attention, but she was not in the mood.

"Just tired," Cloe leaned on her hand, listening to the class. Miss McHolly was absent; instead, another teacher replaced her. Cloe felt bad for scaring McHolly, but she had no other choice. She hoped her teacher would understand the friendly warning.

"Something happened. You left with McHolly and suddenly came back alone without her, and a new teacher replaced her," Vall lifted her eyebrow, watching Cloe.

"Forget it, Vall. I am just tired. I have no idea why we have a new teacher," Cloe lied, hiding the reason behind McHolly's absence.

Vall was eager to talk more; she needed to come up with a new topic.

"You know last time, just ask me if you want to join, instead of showing off," Vall stated with a stubborn look on her face, making Cloe turn her attention and feel guilty.

"I'm sorry, I did not mean to offend you, Vall," Cloe was now back, pleading for Vall's forgiveness, forgetting about the warning she gave McHolly an hour ago.

"It's fine," Vall grinned, a big smile showing her small canines not yet developed to their normal size.

Cloe smiled back at her friend, relieved her forgiveness worked.

"It is time," Nix's voice was low and serious.

Mervin and Fog joined Nix, getting closer to the red wall, awaiting the next order.

Nix's senses awakened, smelling the stink pheromone from the human, realizing she did not take her pills and the stench made her feel sick. Mervin and Fog looked at their leader, playing with her claws against her finger skin, feeling the human approaching them.

The sound of footsteps and crushed leaves made the night lively. The sound of something dripping came from the footsteps. Nix focused her gaze on the human walking with a heavy bag in his hand, dripping red liquid on the ground, leaving signs of the stench coming from the blood.

Sergeant Gram walked in the forest night, ready to complete the deal he made with the Gaian female. It was an easy task to kill the commander; Sergeant Gram went back into the event where he poisoned his wine and left the old hag deadly, throwing blood and crying for help. He looked upon the pathetic look on the commander's face, feeling this man should have never gotten the rank above him. Gram held the knife around his neck and made a quick cut; his head dropped out of his neck, splashing blood everywhere. Sergeant Gram's face was mugged in blood, and cold empty eyes stared at the greedy dead commander.

Gram threw the bag in the middle of the forest, standing inches close to it, looking around him, waiting for the Gaians to appear. He knew they were hiding in the trees; he learned they used nature against him

Nix saw the bloody bag dropped on the ground and the stare in Gram's eyes.

"You kept your promise, human," Nix jumped from the tree, making her voice feel like a loud echo in the forest night.
