Jylan turned around at the wrong time. There was a searing pain as the knife, which was thrown through the air, slashed across both of his eyes. There was also a scream, which was probably Prince Sebastian, and the next moment, before Jylan could feel pain or shock or fear or anything at all, a pair - no - two pairs of arms grabbed his shoulders. He couldn't see, because now there was blood streaming down his eyes, and of course, he had no hope of opening them. but he could hear Eris and someone else, along with Sebastian, whose voice sounded almost crazed.

Huh.

There was some faded arguing back and forth, which Jylan couldn't make out, but then finally, he heard, "Take care of the rest later. We should go before we all die." Then there were footsteps, and some shouting, a clash of swords, more screaming, but this time Jylan couldn't make out whose voice it was.

Huh.

He felt sleepy, too, and the pain was now so bad that it felt like his eyelids were on fire. Not even on fire. Like hell itself had popped up where the blade had cut and said, "Oh, Jylan? Yeah. Hi!". It wasn't very pleasant. The only way to escape the pain, the bright, billowing waves of pain, was to sleep. To fade off and not wake up until the pain was gone. Yes. Sleep, sleep, sleep. Jylan faded off before anything more could be said. Yep. Sleep was the answer here. He could tell he was being dragged, carried, through the ground. His shoes caught on the grass, and there were more inaudible voices around him. Soon those faded too, and Jylan was left floating in a dark, dreamless sleep.

At least there was no pain.
