19 Muspelheim[6]

Lily Gabica hummed a tune, before her a sizzling pan with aromatic fragrance slowly cooked.

"Lily! Come here for a second, I have a surprise!" Elder Gabica's voice echoed from the side, Lily smiled and walked towards the Elder. However, she didn't expect the scene that she would see.

Displayed on the television was a familiar face of a young man with reddish hair and deep black eyes, although, in the current world standards, the young man looked like a delinquent, he had a charm that could attract the eyes of young women.

Of course, the young man on the television was Khan.

Seeing the shocked expression of her granddaughter, Elder Gabica wore a smirk and spoke.

"Man, that kid really is cunning, to think that in mere several hours, he became a celebrity. Hahaha, even I don't understand his methods.".

Lily couldn't even feel the shock, for, at the start, she didn't really understand how Khan's mind worked, she could stand there and sigh.

"Hey, something is burning!" Elder Gabica's nose twitched and he shouted in alarm.

"Ah!" Lily's figure flashed towards the kitchen in panic while Elder Gabica laughed at the sight of her granddaughter scurrying back. However, within his eyes, hints of complicated emotions could be seen.

Near the gates of the mansion, a haggard Khan could be seen, beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he stood there with panting breaths.

'Damn, who knew that answering one question would lead to them asking an endless amount of questions!' Khan indignantly thought.

He looked around and found that the guards that always stood near the gates were not there, Khan shrugged, opened the gates on his own and walked towards the door.

Upon entering he saw the two seated on the couch, munching on some chips. Khan frowned, although cultivators have the power to cleanse their bodies of impurities, that doesn't mean that they should eat foods that could harm the body.

"What's wrong with you two? Why are you eating those junks?" Khan moved towards the living room and asked.

"Hahaha, that's because Lily butchered her cooking." Elder Gabica didn't even have the intention to hide what happened and spoke, prompting Lily to puff her cheeks in indignation.

"Hmmm..." Khan moved towards a nearby couch and sat down, taking the remote control, he changed the channel and started munching on some chips.

"Now that I think about it, Khan, how did you suddenly become a celebrity?" Elder Gabica asked in a curious tone.

"A celebrity? Is defeating a person in a game really that good?" Khan spoke in an indifferent tone which caused Lily to retort.

"What's with your tone? Don't you know that the person you defeated earlier was a top 20 ranker? "

"Oh, he's that strong? Doesn't seem to be like it, though." Lily could only facepalm in the face of Khan's denseness.

The television switched to a familiar scene of a great plain, on the great plain, stood two figures, one held a sword around his waist while the other prone with a rifle.

A bang echoed with a whistling sound, the standing figure flashed to the side as a bullet trail pierced through his initial position. After a while, the standing figure moved with flashing footsteps towards the prone figure.

Sparks flew accompanied with clashing sounds of metal against metal, the fight was fierce but didn't last long, it ended with a swipe from the figure with bloodred eyes.

A winner notification sound echoed, ending the silence on the great plain.

[Winner: Crimson Gunner, Winner, winner, let's have chicken for dinner!]

Elder Gabica gulped a mouthful of saliva, calming his rising nerves upon witnessing the ruthless method that Khan utilized against his opponent. Lily also felt a shiver down her spine, however, her eyes shone with an emotion different from what she felt.

"The peculiar fight of Super HaX0r being beheaded will now be analyzed by our best game analyst. Freed Arche from the Crimson Flower!"

Khan almost choked when he saw the figure of a blonde young man.

"Iyayaya, I can't believe my eyes when I saw that kid's movements, he looked like a ghost right there, do you, sir, think that he used a skill?" The host spoke a few words and asked Freed.

"Skill? I don't think so, and according to our information, Crimson Gunner doesn't seem to have any movement skill aside from Sleet Steps, and those mirages don't seem to originate from Sleet Steps." Freed promptly replied in a calm tone.

"Then, what do you think was that?"

"That was a pure display of physical technique and skill." Freed immediately replied, sending the host into confusion.

Although the concept of physical abilities existed in the modern world, except those who were dedicated to the arts of body training, almost all people don't even bother to train their bodies.

Thanks to the huge advancement of modern technology, any illnesses could be easily cured, even cancer and HIV which the world from a hundred years ago, deemed to be incurable.

But even though they don't particularly train their body, that doesn't really mean that they're incapable, but the realm of which Freed indicated, was impossible to achieve.

To achieve that amount of skill just from training your body, just how many years that would take? Because of the advent of Rune Decipherers, people won't bother training themselves just for a single movement technique that they can use with the help of runes.

"Hmm, that amount of skill is plausible with decades of training, but from the information that we gathered, the person who piloted the account seems to be a young man in his teens, and the use of Rune Decipherer in the virtual world is impossible, so that could only be achieved by the use of a skill."

"Hmm, did the Pearl Abyssal company hid some information about this Crimson Gunner?" The host spoke, increasing the watcher's curiosity towards this issue.

"That's impossible, although they value the user's privacy, skills are something meant to be used and of course shown to the public. "

"Well, you do have the right point there, sir. "

"That issue aside, I'm quite interested at the young man who used the Crimson Gunner avatar at the arcade. " Freed's eyes turned towards the camera, Khan felt a shiver down his spine as it seemed like Freed's eyes focused on him.

"Well, I do think that he will surely be back." With that, the segment took a break and advertisements displayed on the television. Khan stood up, apparently bored about eating chips.

Lily didn't bother about him anymore and switched the channels to her favorite drama while Elder Gabica slowly dozed off to dreamland. The night ended without further events.

Morning came and after taking his breakfast, Khan moved once more, but not at the Virtual Arcade. He went to a nearby casino just several blocks before the mansion.

Khan moved with composed steps different from those underaged that would sometimes try to sneak their way in. Because of his composure and his posture, the guards didn't even bother to inspect him as they thought in their mind.

"Hmmph, probably another second-generation nouveau riche, it seems like we will earn more money this time."

Khan dusted off the formal clothes that he borrowed from the Elder, his eyes scoured the area. However, he frowned, according to this calculations, although the games here looked to be simple, the schemes that the dealers made would make it tricky to predict the outcome.

Khan walked around and found a much simpler to predict, game. But of course, the simpler the game was, the simpler it was to manipulate.

"Place your bets!" The dealer slammed the cup that he was shaking and screamed and the people around, slapped their chips on the table. Observing this Khan muttered. 'It seems like it's not possible to bet without a capital.'

There were only two selections on the table, high or low.

The dealer then opened the cup and spoke in a deep tone. "High!"

On the table, the dice showed the number six.

After a few rounds, Khan finally got a grasp about the rules. If the dice revealed a number between 1-4 it would be deemed as low, the five and six would be high.

If you won, your bet would be doubled.

"Damn it! I just lost everything that I won this far!" A young man kneeled in regret. The young man's chips disappeared into the dealer's table, now he only had a hundred thousand worth of chips.

Khan's eyes shone, he followed the young man towards the bathroom. Nearing the door, he clutched the young man's shoulder.

"Huh?" The young man uttered.

"You just lost everything you won earlier, right?"

"Ugh... Stop reminding me about that, also, who are you?" The young man shook Khan's hands off and asked.

"My name is Khan Liverto, how about we have a deal?" Khan stretched his hands forward, sensing the seriousness of Khan's gaze, the young man's face became grim. After a moment of hesitation, he returned the gesture and asked.

"A deal?" He asked in an uncertain tone.

"It's simple, I will take back everything you won, but in exchange, I want half of it."

"Deal!" Khan didn't even have any time to continue when the young man answered. Khan's eyelids twitched.

'This young man is too trusting.' But just as he was about to explain his plans. His instincts kicked in as a sense of imminent danger appeared. His eyes gazed at the young man whose eyes shone with a reddish glint.

"But if you dare to lie to me... I will make sure to make you learn the consequences..."

Regaining his composure, Khan's face suffused a smile, in the face of this chilling killing intent. His eyes didn't show much falter as he spoke.

"I understand."

'Strange... How could this kid stay unfazed under my pressure? Is he also an expert? Well if that is true, then he has good chance to succeed.' The young man shrugged and the two walked side by side.

Thus, the legend of Khan becoming one of the legendary gamblers in the entire continent has begun.
