Episode 4 First quest (4)

The Chupacabra declared as if this world was its own.

[You people are very lucky, the system has chosen your world as it's next.....]

The Chupacabra spoke, but it's final words were restricted, not for him but for the world.

[So this world still hasn't gone through the restrictions has it?]

The Chupacabra spoke, but not in the way he spoke earlier.

He spoke normally but because I was close to him I heard him.

No one who heard him say that would understand what he said, well that doesn't apply to me and any 'Travelers' present in this period.

[That thing... That thing in the sky, it's just as you said, it's here. I can't hear it's words correctly, but what you told me earlier, is it really about to happen?]

While we planned our moves inside the safe room, I deliberately let out some parts of the plan so he would be confused, that forced him to use all of his promises from the pact.

I obviously only told him about the first quest, and most of the things he had asked me were restricted, so he only knows things that aren't important and won't lead to Alice killing me, well I hope so.

[Yeah it's about to begin.]

I took a deep breath and took out the two swords that I could barely hide at the back of my shirt.

[Wait a second, I don't have any weapens. You'll give me one of those swords right?]

The answer was obvious.

[No.]

After my refusal, Aiden was about to speak but stopped after looking up towards the sky again.

The Chupacabra's grey skin started to shine little by little and then he spoke again.

[Humans! Be warned, I'm the caretaker for this region, that means I can hear everything you people speak.]

As expected, some people were not taking him seriously and as he said he's the caretaker, that meant he could hear everything we say and see everything we do.

I got ready and signaled Aiden, who then got into position.

[Fools!]

Looks like the other humans still haven't stopped making fun of him.

Letting his anger go, the Chupacabra released a wave of energy which destroyed the tall buildings that were still somehow standing.

Both of us were close to him, the energy wave rushed towards us and hit both of us. I saw Aiden fall towards his knees and he looked at me in complete astonishment.

Why wasn't I affected? That's simple.

The swords had saved me. This meant that the magic of the swords were greater than that of a Chupacabra.

My swords repelled his magic, this caused the Chupacabra to look in my direction.

[Looks like there are many interesting people this time around, very well. I'll forgive you people, but my anger still hasn't subsided, I was going to delay this but...]

Click....

The Chupacabra snapped his fingers and at that moment a blue holographic window appeared, but this time everyone could see it.

Quest# 1

⟨Hunting⟩

Type: Main

Difficulty: D+

Clear conditions: Hunt down the monsters  ranging from grade 8-11 and collect 500 points.

Quest Details: Monsters have been freed from the control and they will attack and kill on sight. Each day a total of 7 waves from monsters ranging from grade 4-11 will be made. Monsters of grade 8 will give a total of 10 points, grade 9 will give 7, grade 10 will give 4 and grade 11 will give 2 points.

Time limit: 7 days

Rewards: a part of restrictions would be lifted, additional rewards will be issued after calculations.

Penalty: death

The first quest, this horrifying quest showed just how cruel the world was going to become.

[To show how merciful and graceful I am, I'll give you a timer.]

Another hologram appeared.

[[Minutes: 59]]

[You have exactly this many earth minutes to do whatever you want, I'll be going now.]

After finishing his job, the Chupacabra stroke his tail in the sky which caused a slight cut there.

Before going inside the space he made in the sky, he spoke some words of sympathy but obviously there was no sympathy behind those words of his.

[Try not to die.]

His malicious smile reached both corners of his mouth but then.

[Hey aren't you going to say anything to him? We came here just for that, don't forget.]

Aiden reminded me one of the most important part of the plan. I was lost in thought but I'm thankful to him for snapping me out of it.

[Hey wait!]

I yelled at the top of my lungs. I could've just talked in a low voice since he can hear everyone in the Korean region, but I have to make a big impression.

He glared at me through the sky, just his presence made me sweat, I fear if I say something he'll kill me.

[Lowly human, I don't have time for your games.]

[Wait I ha-]

Before I could finish, he was gone.

This was a problem.

[He's gone! What're we going to do!?]

He was right, for our plan to work, negotiating with that Chupacabra was essential but now that benefit we could've receive was gone.

[We fight now.]

Aiden looked at me in surprise.

[You mean we skip phase 1 and 2?]

[No we just need to readjust our plan.]

[Try not to die]

The Chupacabra was then gone from Alice's sight or he was supposed to be, but instead of going the Chupacabra spoke to someone.

[This is odd. Is this the work of that anomaly?]

Alice thought what that anomaly could've done, but no matter how hard she tried she couldn't figure it out.

At that moment a tall man spoke to her from behind.

[Hey princess, don't leave me hanging here, c'mon give me some info on what's happening.]

The guy had black hair and a dragon tattoo on his neck that went all the way to his collar bone.

He wore a black T-shirt and a black trouser just like how that anomaly is wearing, but something was different about this guy, he had a much more intimidating presence than Alice herself.

[You recruited me out of nowhere and now you aren't telling me anything, I'll tell you this once, I don't like chicks who keep secrets from me.]

His words should've made Alice angry but instead of that, her expression was that of a calm person, no it was more like she was used to it.

[You don't need to know anything, if you wish to leave, you're free to leave.]

The tall guy just stared at Alice for quite some time. A little while later a smile formed on his face and he moved that face of his closer to Alice.

[You know, I really like you.]

Alice didn't seem to have any feelings towards this man, she replied in a calm tone.

[Let's get going, there isn't much time to prepare for the wave.]

The tall man seemed annoyed at how Alice had ignored him, but there was nothing he could do.

And just like that, both of them ran in the same direction.

[Hey where are we going?]

Aiden asked while running.

[We need to get you a weapon first, then we'll think about anything else.]

[Wait there isn't much time left! If we go around wasting time, we'll die for sure.]

[No don't worry, we'll just be taking a small tour around the alleyway.]

With that said Kim Suho and Aiden, both ran at their top speed, after a while they arrived at a closed alleyway which had only one way to get inside and get out.

[What're we doing here?]

[Didn't you want a weopen? This is a place where we'll get the weopen.]

[I only said that as a joke, why did you take it seriously? C'mon let's go, we don't have much time.]

Just as Aiden was about to take the lead and start running, Kim Suho grabbed his hand and pointed out to what seemed to be a grade 11 mutant ant.

It seemed to be the size of a normal middle school boy.

Kim Suho whispered inside Aiden's ear.

[We can kill that thing, only if we work together. Plus, the one who kills it would get 2 points.]

Aiden thought for a moment but then agreed.

[I'll tell you the plan just do what I tell you.]

[Ok I'll do what you say.]

Kim Suho told him the plan, and Aiden was quite surprised to hear it.

[Yes, yes I think this'll work.]

[Then let's go.]

With that said, I picked up a small rock and threw it towards the ant.

[Hey c'mon kill me.]

When Kim Suho said that, the ant rushed towards him at a tremendous speed.

[Aiden! Do it now!]

Aiden prepared himself.

[Yeah I'm doing it, but do you really like to die that much.]

[I don't! But please do it I don't think I can run like this any longer.]

After he said that, Aiden quickly did what he had to.

In the next moment the ant was hanging upside down.

I had asked Aiden to lay down the same trap that I got trapped in when we first met.

[Quick! My magic isn't that strong, do what you have to.]

I then grabbed both swords in my hand, without being careful or even considerate, I swung the swords.

The next moment half of the ant was on the ground.

[[Congratulations, you have acquired 2 points.]]

The system message told me how many points I had acquired.

But that wasn't what I was really aiming for.

[H-Hey what's that thing?]

I was holding a spear.

[This is your weopen.]

[R-Really? Can I really take it?]

[Well I went through the trouble to waste our time here.]

[But how did you know this was here?]

[Just like I know other stuff, I knew where this would be too.]

[Then doesn't this mean some monsters will drop loot like this one?]

[Yeah you're right.]

He was right, in the first quest many monsters will drop loot, such as weopens and health potions, if you're lucky you'll even get a good skill.

[I don't know what to say, but thank you for the spear.]

I don't really deserve his gratitude. In the game, Aiden would 'always' hunt down this ant and get that spear.

[Let's get going.]

I don't have the time to say unnecessary stuff.

What is important is that, the first wave will begin soon and our destination is far away.

[Are you sure the Jongno district will welcome us?]

[They'll have to.]
