“What if he hates me? And the date, too.”
Pablo glanced at him before snorting once. “I don’t know much about Dave, but even a blind man can see that he likes you and your ugly face.”
“Whoa. Thanks for the support, Pabby. How kind of you,” he retorted with as much sarcasm as he could muster.
Pablo narrowed his eyes at Tobias. “You’ve promised not to mention my stupid childhood nickname ever again.”
“I made that promise to my loving and kind best friend, not the jerk I’m talking to right now.”
Pablo scoffed. “Whatever, Toto.”
Tobias glared at Pablo. “Fuck you. That’s an idiotic nickname. It’s the name of Dorothy’s dog from The Wizard of Oz.”
“Fair is fair.”
Tobias showed Pablo his right middle finger. After that, neither of them exchanged another word for the next few minutes. Tobias signaled at the bartender to top up his beer. He drank half of it immediately when his mug was filled up.
“I’m scared.”
