Chapter 1: Here we go

You know, waking up in a new, different body somewhere completely random is not something that everyone has the pleasure of experiencing. I don't even know what happened before I found myself here.

I was just chilling at home reading some webnovels when something strange happened, something that under no normal circumstances would ever happen, ever... I got an email. Now, I know that sounds really sad, but in my defense, this was an email that I used when I was, like, in middle school. Curiosity getting the best of me, I decided to see what it really was.

I opened my email and my curiosity dimmed. It was one of those stupid quizzes that you would see on buzzfeed or some shit like that. Since I had nothing better to do, I decided to click on the link. I know that I probably shouldn't have done that since it's like the equivalent of downloading more ram, but I was bored.

"Let's see…if you could have any power, what power would you have?" I muttered to myself.

I looked around my room for any inspiration before my eyes locked onto a game box, and smiled a little.

"I would have a keyblade." I typed in as I clicked the next question. I have been a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts when I was younger and would always dream of having awesome powers like that.

"What type of world would you live in?" Hmm… kind of a hard question.

"Somewhere peaceful and full of adventure." I answer.

A few more questions later like, would you be in a party or go solo, would you be a mage or warrior, and stuff like that.

"Create your character?" I scrunch my eyebrows as I look at a character creation screen. I mused that it was part of the weird quiz and decided to make a character that kind of resembled me. Male, dark skin, lean, compact muscles, black hair, stuff like that.

Clicking finished I waited for something to happen…and waited for a few minutes. I clicked my tongue in annoyance of wasting my time and decided to get some sleep since it was pretty late and had classes in the morning. At least, I would have if an electrical current didn't exit my computer and fry my squishy organs and rock hard brain. Slumping down back into my chair, I died…

Or so I thought, as I found myself completely different. Getting up I decided that the best course of action would be not panicking and try to find something identifiable to see if I can discern where I was. I found a door to the room I was and what I saw was something straight out of a fairy tale or one of those trashy isekais I used to watch.

It was like I was transported to the past. Medieval buildings and infrastructure were everywhere as I walked along the cobblestone path to a giant building towards the middle of the town. It seemed like a guild hall or something like that, and I pushed the doors open, I saw it was a tavern of sorts.

"Welcome! If you want something to eat, just sit down anywhere open! If you want to register go to the counter inside!" One of the waitresses called out.

Thanking them, I walked to the desk and asked the very beautiful, very…well endowed barkeep for information.

"Hi, my name is Orion, and I was wondering where I am. I kind of got lost from my caravan." I lie, acting embarrassed as I scratched the back of my head.

"Hello, I'm Luna." she said smiling at me. "Right now you're in Axel town, a starting town for adventurers and such."

"Really?" I asked myself. "Can anyone become an adventurer?" I ask her.

"Yup! You just need to pay the entrance fee." She says shocking me.

I forgot that stuff costs money! I excuse myself and sit at one of the tables and try to collect myself. So far I took a buzzfeed quiz, got isekaid, and might not have money. Am I going to be homeless on my first day? I checked my pockets for anything that would be useful. So far I had my phone, my wallet, and the clothes that I had on when I came here, a sweatshirt and joggers. Looking inside my wallet, I was surprised to find that instead of dollars, there were coins. Looks like whatever sent me here is looking out for me. Hopefully they continue to do so.

Walking to the desk again, I emptied my wallet onto the desk and shook it a few times just for good measure.

"So would this cover it?" I ask.

She sorts the money on the table and smiles at me.

"Yup! Just the right amount! Now allow me to formally explain. Adventurers have their own occupations."

She handed me a small card

"This is your adventurer's registration card. It keeps track of how many monsters you've killed and the experience you've gained. When you level up, you'll gain skill points to learn new skills," she bowed as I got distracted by her giant…personality traits jiggled a bit "So please work hard to level up!"

I smiled a bit at her as I cleared my throat and put away the card.

"Now place your hand over the crystal ball and select which occupation you want."

I place my hand gently on it as it glowed pretty brightly.

"Let's see. Oh my! Your stats are high across the board with lower than average luck!" She exclaimed, gaining the attention of the people around us. "Even your magic stat is higher than average! With stats like these, you can become a variety of occupations! Mage, Knight, even advanced jobs like arch mage and swordmaster!" She screamed, earning the cheers of everyone around us.

"Is there a magic swordsman?" I ask. If this was real, and not just a really realistic fever dream, then wouldn't that mean that the quiz that I took was real?! If that was the case, then this would be the best choice.

"There is! A magic swordsman: A powerful class that combines the power and durability of a swordsman with the range and versatility of a mage, standing on the frontline of the battlefield. Welcome to the guild Orion-sama!" She bowed as the crowd that surrounded us exploded in cheers.

"HAHA! I knew he was different as soon as he walked in!" An extra cheered.

"Join my team, sir! With you, we'll be able to defeat the devil king!" Another extra offered.

So there was a devil king here? I guess that makes sense since there's an adventurer's guild.

I smiled as the crowd died down a bit, and decided that the first order of business would be to complete an easy job so that I could get some moolah for a place to sleep tonight.

"Are there any beginner jobs that you could recommend?" I ask.

Luna walks to the signboard on the side with a bunch of papers listed there, most probably different jobs, and hands me one.

"It's the giant toad's mating season, and they are eating farmer's livestock. We would greatly appreciate you clearing some of them out."

Giant toad? How giant are we talking here? Actually, it shouldn't be that bad. Toads are tiny, so they are probably like dog size or something. I accept the job and walk to the job site, an open plain.

Before I meet these 'giant toads', I should try and awaken my keyblade...how do I do that? In animes and stuff like that, the main character awakens their power in life or death scenarios, or by imagining someone strong and pulling out their hidden power. Hopefully it doesn't come to the former, so let's try the later.

"Haaa…" I exhale as I close my eyes and clench my fists. Getting into a pose ready for a punch, I release the hidden move.

"Normal series: Normal punch." I scream out as I throw a punch… and nothing.

"That didn't work?" I ask myself. "Let's try some other moves.

So I tried doing different moves that would try and awaken my keyblade. I don't know how long I've been trying, but my eyes shot open when I felt the ground shaking.

"Was that me?" I check myself for any differences when the ground shakes again. I hear a loud groan and I try to look for the source of the sound.

Turning around, I see something… I don't know what it is but it suddenly leaps into the air and lands right in front of me. I look up at it and it does the same to up. No one moved for a long time before I broke out in a sprint.

"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT??!!" I scream as I start running away from it. The frog-like thing starts chasing after me, catching up very quickly. Knowing that running would only be delaying the inevitable, I stop and turn around, squaring up against what I assume to be the giant toad.

"Alright, let's do this. I'm going to awaken my keyblade, and then I'm going to kill this thing." I say trying to psych myself up.

"AAAAHHHHHH!!!" I let out a battle cry as I start running towards it. It just sits there and waits for me to get closer. I jump and bring my hand back for a punch, but before I could, it opens its mouth and swallows me whole. I sit in its mouth for a few seconds before I start panicking, trying to get out of the warm, slimy trap that I found myself it.

In a desperate attempt to get out I scream out and raise my hand. Feeling something hard near my hand, I grab it like my life depended on it and instinctively scream out.

"Freeze!"

It suddenly gets a lot colder as I see ice forming inside the toad. Seeing that I have a chance of survival, I struggle, not trying to be dissolved by the toad's stomach acid.

"Freeze! Freeze! Freeze!"

I screamed out as many freeze spells as I could and started hacking away at the inside of the toad, trying to break out of it before it would be too late.

"Grrrrrrrrroaaaaannnnn" I heard a loud groan as I suddenly felt like I was being squashed by the rest of the toad's insides. Realizing that the source of the sound must have been the toad, I struggle harder until my hands breaks free of the toad. Pulling myself out, I take a deep breath and fully get out of the toad. I crawl a few feet away and lie down, feeling drained.

Exhaling, I sit up and look to the tool that had helped me escape, and my tiredness was replaced by giddyness. In my hand was a genuine keyblade. My savior, in a way. It was sleek and had a black blade and key head, with the guard circling around the handle with orange pegs. It also had a orange skull at the part where the handle connected to the blade with an orange skull keychain.

Smiling, I let out a roar of victory as I stood back up. Checking my adventurer's card, I saw that I had killed the toad and gained experience, and also learned the freeze spell. I tucked the card away and looked at the corpse of the toad. I gave it a few kicks for good measure and for trying to eat me and made my way to try and find one or two more toads for today. Setting my keyblade on my shoulder, I let out a small grin. Looks like my adventure is just getting started.
