chapter 1.5 to challenge a king

Some might say I'm a dreamer. it's been 7 years since the world has change and my dream has never wavered. My dream was to rule a country. some might say that's a childish ambition. but I studied well and tried to my best to be a political figure. I was one of the best in my class and also the one who has the most connections. but the world changed when I graduated. a war happened the new generation vs the old. the new won and established a new system. most of my connection became useless. I became a specialist like the 1/3 of the current population I've reach mastery over the control of my gifts.

the gifts given was random and so far there's no correlation between bloodline whether or not it affects the persons power. but one thing is for sure only people who was born after 1990 were the only one who has it. and only the age above 15 years old can awaken.

the world is a dangerous place now with gifts to be able to destroy entire islands i dare say that who ever challenges those people are a fool. the emperors people have reached powers that surpassed nuclear bombs. in the war I saw one destroy an entire island within seconds. that's the only info on the emperors shared to the public as of now.

kings were different the kings now are the "strongest" force or so most believe like to believe. cause a few years ago some group of people tried to assassinate one in the middle of the streets and an entire city block was destroyed but no casualty except the people who assaulted the king. it was a new city being build from the ruins so no one was inside those buildings.

not only did that demonstrated the power of the king but it also showed the deterrence to hostile forces. since then no one dared to do something extreme but some still chose to challenge a king and failed.

right now I've reached the fabled mastery of the gifts and summoned my weapon. I now dare challenge a king.

no one knew except for the kings and above how powers worked after this but i believe my power is strong enough. my gift the ability of fire. I can now create a fire so strong it destroy a building. I'm not scared of forces anymore. my body has also improved apparently reaching mastery improves the strength of the body now I'm not scared of bullets anymore.

with all the being said it's now time to challenge a king. and with that I went to my appointment at the rifts of the connector and challenge the king of England.

the appointment cost me a million world dollars but it was all worth it once I'm king I'll have an entire countries money to manage.

"Hello, welcome to the rifts of the connector do you have an appointment?"

surprisingly the receptionist was beautiful she was a 8.5/10 I replied to her and said

"hello, my appointment was to see the king of England. My name is Axel"

"Mr. Axel you've arrived early in ten minutes the connector shall see you"

"thanks ms?"

"Angeline"

"thank you ms Angeline"

I waited ten minutes and my appointment arrived. as I walk in I felt strange it was as if the world around me shifted. and the gift within me was saying that I'm not on earth anymore. No it's saying that I'm not in the universe anymore. What in the world is happening I look out the window and saw earth but deep down fear was foreboding.

"Hello mister Alex"

A voice snapped me back into reality. It was his voice the connectors voice that awakened me. looking at his apathetic looking eyes I wonder if what happened earlier was all a dream. But deep within my gift was saying that it was not a dream.

"Mister Alex are you there?"

"Umm yes. my appointment with the king of England"

"Okay, just to remind mister Alex that there's no refund once I open the portal"

"yes, you can open it now"

"okay, mister Alex I'll comeback for you in 2 hours"

"yes, please do sorry for the trouble"

looking at him he waved his arms and a portal opened on my right and then I went in. after entering the fear of my gift was gone. behind me the collector spoke.

"see you in two hours Mr. Alex"

the portal closed and I was in a platform made out of granite . the platform was at the size of a football field in length and width. at the other side I saw him, the king of england, Joshua Pendragon. he was walking straight to my direction. when he arrived he spoke.

"Hello and welcome Mr. Alex."

"Nice to meet you too your majesty"

I bowed and continued saying

"I'm sorry for challenging but please don't go easy on me"

I sneered in my head when saying that. I know for a fact that we're on equal grounds with my power.

"yes, Mr. Alex I'm ready when you're ready"

I responded "ready"

I immediately summoned my weapon. It was two daggers I charged at him and I activated flames to burst in my hands to propel me forward. reaching speeds nearing mach 1. But he also summoned his weapon it was a staff and he blocked my attack. the collision burst out and made a crater 10 meters wide and half a meter deep. when we clashed I immediately kick his staff and burst flames on my feet propelling me far away from him when the clashed happened I knew for a fact that I was not a match in frontal battle cause he just stood still and tanked my attack.

with that i resorted to creating flame attack from far away moving around him at mach 1. But he was still staying still. i grew restless for I know that I was exhausting my energy too much. but he was just standing still. time to use my ace. I created a fire surrounding him to block his view of me and went in with speed surpassing mach 1 daggers was readying to kill but then something weird happened. he removed his weapon and grab my daggers with his bare hands. my daggers were hot enough to melt stone but he was holding on to it as if they we're nothing. he threw me 100 meters or so away from him and then he disappeared from his spot and attack me from my back. he then hold me by the neck and said.

"Good good you're the first challenger to have reached mastery or as we and the other kings say level 1"

I was shocked. what they call level one was already at my power what about the levels above.

"the shocked expression always amazes me. anyway as of now there's only 4 levels that we know has been reached. And as of now I'm at level 3 you're no match for me"

I didn't understand what being at the level meant but I knew that starting from today I must strive harder.
