Memories of The Past (2)

Every word that came out of Hu Yehua's mouth felt like a knife, cutting deeper and deeper into Ye Huanhuan's being. Her body began to tremble slightly, but she remained silent.

If it weren't for the fact that this was just a memory, he would have been consumed by rage and wanted to confront these heartless individuals.

To him, they were hypocrites. Their entire family despised his mother because of her humble background, yet they still wanted to take away her children, despite claiming that they were worthless to them.

Ye Huanhuan's silence only seemed to irritate Hu Yehua further.

Just as the venomous woman was about to say something, her shoulder was gently held by Luo Heng. Hu Yehua turned to her husband as he spoke.

"Alright, that's enough for now. It's getting late, and I need to prepare for a meeting at the office," said Luo Heng, rolling up his sleeves to check his expensive watch.

He turned to his wife and added, "You also have an appointment with a client soon. If you continue to delay, it will be troublesome."

Hu Yehua nodded, her expression showing a mix of annoyance and impatience.

Without another word, they both turned to leave, leaving Ye Huanhuan standing there, clutching the file in her trembling hands.

Luo Heng took one last look at Ye Huanhuan and said, "Miss Ye, I will give you three more days to think clearly about what you want. I trust you won't make the wrong decision."

With an indifferent tone that carried a hint of superiority, he turned to leave, leaving the door wide open as he passed by Zhou Yuan's phantom.

As they turned to leave, the door was left open, letting in a gust of cool air. The sound of their footsteps echoed in the silence, gradually fading away.

Ye Huanhuan stood there, clutching the file tightly in her trembling hands, her eyes filled with a mix of anger, worry, and uncertainty. The weight of the situation weighed heavily on her, and her emotions were evident on her face.

After a while, a soft and childish voice broke the silence, echoing throughout the living room. "Mom?" A young boy emerged from a room, his face slightly flushed and his steps unsteady. He appeared pale, as if he had a fever.

Ye Huanhuan's expression softened as she saw her son approaching. She quickly walked towards him and knelt down, concern evident in her voice. "Little Lin, weren't you sleeping? What happened?"

Luo Wulin, the young boy, bore a striking resemblance to his mother, except for his charming dark eyes that added a touch of youthfulness to his face. "Mom, I just woke up," he tenderly replied, his voice filled with innocence.

"Mom, who were those people just now? Why do you look so sad? Did they hurt you like Dad?" Luo Wulin asked, his innocent curiosity reflecting his concern for his mother's well-being.

Ye Huanhuan gazed at her son, her eyes filled with a mixture of love and sadness. She gently brushed her hand against his flushed cheek, feeling the warmth of his fever. "No, my dear Little Lin," she reassured him, her voice filled with tenderness. "Those people were just here to talk. They didn't hurt me like Dad."

Taking a moment to gather her thoughts, Ye Huanhuan continued, "Mommy is going through a difficult time right now, but I promise, I will do everything I can to protect you and make things better."

Luo Wulin looked up at his mother, his bright eyes filled with innocence. "Mom, tell me if anyone bullies you, I'll protect you and Xingxing."

Zhou Yuan observed his younger self and smiled bitterly. In the past, he had hidden behind the door of his room, listening to the conversation between his mother and grandparents. Even at a young age, he was sensible and understood many things. However, it was difficult for him to fully comprehend everything at the time, though he knew that those people made his mother sad. As a result, he resented them.

Despite these feelings, Zhou Yuan couldn't help but feel regretful. He had passed away before he could provide his mother with a better life as she grew older. Frustration filled him as he wondered if this dream was some distorted way of life flashing before his eyes before death.

Sighing, Zhou Yuan thought to himself, "It doesn't matter anymore. At least I had the chance to see Mom again after so many years." He was unsure if he would be fortunate enough to remember his past life or be reincarnated as a human in his next life.

Upon hearing her son's words, Ye Huanhuan looked at him and lovingly said, "You're my little hero." Luo Wulin laughed, his smile shining brilliantly.

Ye Huanhuan continued, "Little Lin, Mom wants you to remember that in this world, there are many different types of people. Everyone is unique and has their own way of doing things."

"People may act in ways that hurt or disappoint us, but it's important to remember that this world is also filled with beauty and joy. Despite the challenges we may face, I hope you will always have the courage to strive forward and embrace the wonders of life."

Luo Wulin's small face looked rather confused. Ye Huanhuan simply chuckled as she continued, "Maybe you might not understand what Mom is trying to tell you right now, but one day I believe you will. All I wish for you is to live a life you can be proud of."

The boy nodded in a silly fashion; his understanding limited but his trust in his mother unwavering.

"Alright, you need to sleep more and get better. Mom needs to pick up your sister from school," Ye Huahuan said as she checked the time.

Luo Wulin reluctantly nodded as they walked into his room.
