It was followed by many more. 

When it got closer, my mother huddled my brother and I together as she put herself in front of us.

Revealing itself from the shadows, it was its first of eight frighteningly long legs that I saw first. The rest of it came with its thick, polished black shell-like exoskeleton. Its several eyes pierced us, alongside its two large fangs for a mouth which snapped irregularly each time it took a step towards us. It was twice our size and resembled that of a black widow.

I shivered. There was only one thought endlessly screaming in my head; run. I could only stand in terrified awe. Then somebody sounded it.

"Run."

I came back to my body, making a noise of confusion as if to tell them repeat it.

It was Xiao Sang. She freed herself. She stood a range behind us.

"Run!"

That was when we listened.
