The Alpha's Words

I spring out of Rhy's ire. The yellow haired man seemed to have whimpered at the alpha sudden change in tone. He remains calm though. He coughs into his hands. "If I am disturbing you I can come back."

"Don't bother. You have already disrupted me with your presence. Now what is it about the councils you want to talk about?"

"The councils want to see you. It's regarding" – he side eyes me– "Confidential matters."

Alpha Rhy's glances at me. They both share a look at each other that makes me feel nervous. I supposed they do not want me to know about their little confidential matters. Whatever it is.

"Mel, would you mind leaving? Oscar and I need to talk."

I stand still in my spot. I don't know why my body doesn't want to leave. Just leave, Mel! Go! Despite my mind telling me to leave the Alpha and his pack member, my curiosity is stronger than the enticing danger of the Alpha.

"It seems your new mate doesn't want to leave your side, Lord Rhys."

"We were just getting to know each other. When I'm done, can we continue where we left off?" He smirks.

"I'm leaving," I say in the silence. Who does he think he is? Is the Alpha so delusional to think I actually enjoy his company? Completely! Shivers run down my back, his arm touches all over my body. Him saying such lewd things to me with no shame.

"I need to leave this place," I say to myself as I walk in the empty hall.

"And where would you be relocating?"

I stop in my tracks at a woman's voice behind me. For a second, I thought it was Solaria and Ophelia coming to tease me, but in front of me is the most feared woman in the entire palace. Madam Fara walks around the corner approaching me with his small but graceful steps. Her eyes are already looking for something bad to say to me. I keep my composition, remembering the warning Solaria and Ophelia gave me. The first time we talked, she insulted me. She doesn't even like me because I'm human.

"I was just talking to myself…"

"Not even a week here and you're already losing your mind."

"I'm not my mind. I just felt like I needed a new bedroom."

"Oh, is that so?" She raises her eyebrows. "Well be patient, I'm sure when you have your Mate ceremony, the Alpha would love to move you into his chambers."

"Speaking about my own room." I pause. "Mate Ceremony?"

"No, you need to worry about your little mind. You already have a lot to think about."

"I would like to know about this so-called ceremony." I ask her. Madam Fara only nears me.I let out a slight shimmer from her cane poking at my body. What is she doing? I try to stay calm under her judging eyes.

"You're slightly more decent today."

"Thank you?"

"But still boney. Not good."

I stand straight from the tap of her cane hitting the ground. I barely know this woman, yet there is something about her that reminds me of the strictness of my great aunt. That woman was never satisfied no matter what you did for her. But this woman is nothing like Aunt Camile. She seems to hate me being here.

"Thank you for your nice words, Ms. Fara, but don't you think poking me with your stick is so rude. It's been everywhere. I dont think the Alpha would like that."

The wrinkles on the side of her face become more prominent when she wears a scowl. "You think running your mouth to Lord Rhy's will get me in trouble. Think again little girl." Madame Fara scoffs. The sounds of her cane carries on throughout the hall until she is nowhere to be seen.

"She's such a bitch." Someone else says. I look around the place. Behind me, Solaria and Opheila pop out of nowhere.

"Where are you two standing there the entire time?"

"Not the entire time."

"How long?"

"...Since you came out of the dining hall." Ophelia shares an awkward smile.

"Sorry about Madame Fara," says Solaria, "She's rude for no reason. Now that you are a member of the palace, she is going to make life hell for you."

"She makes all our lives hell. I remember when I was just hired, and knew the inner-working of the palace, she locked me inside the bathroom until it was spotless and my hands were bleeding." Ophelia frowns.

"How did the both of you start working here??"

"I did it to support my family back home in Helios. Besides, working for Lord Rhys is a great honor."

"Really?" I wince at Solaria's words. Are they aware what kind of man the Alpha is? He is far from honor.

"Speaking of work, we need to get you ready for the afternoon." Ophelia gestures to me in the hall.

"What is now?" I groan.

"The Alpha still has plans. He's busy now talking with the council."

"Curious question, who is the council?"

"Elder pack members. They help handle the affairs in the other regions in our world. Keeping the Alpha in check and whatnot." She glances at me. "Why do you ask?"

"No, reason."

"If I were you , stay clear away from the Alpha and his political affairs. The kingdom of Wolvendom is already shocked the Alpha picked a squishy mortal to be his mate. No offense to you."

"Why is that shocking to them– besides obvious facts I'm human."

"Because the Alpha used to have a–"

"Shh." Solaria warns Ophelia with a glare. "The Alpha makes decisions that we all question sometimes. It's not my place to talk about his choices mate."

~

Once I've gotten ready for the afternoon, I am escorted to a new part of the palace located just on the left wind of the palace. The lights here aren't that bright out, instead there is a natural ray of light flashing through the window.

The guard opens the thick dark metal door. I am greeted with plants, flowers and butterflies. I'd think I'd be outside by all; the natural vegetation, however I set eyes on the stone ceiling and the archedways letting in just enough light for all the plant life in here.

The door shut behind me. Both Solaria and Ophelia didn't even get to say goodbye to me or tell me what the Alpha's plans with me are. I am left alone in this maze-like garden with only my own thoughts.

I venture into space. The further I go, the more diverse the plans I look at. Followers with tinges of blue and purples sway to the soft windows entering the garden, some bright pink, and another one that catches my attention is a giant blood pink colored flower not yet bloomed. Its flower bud is large, I'd think it was a giant carnivorous plant.

"Rafflesia."

"Excuse me?" I glance at the Alpha Who just popped out of nowhere. He's still in his other armor the other pack members wear.

"The plant. It's called the Rafflesia Arnoldii. Also known as the Death Flower."

"And why are you telling me this?" I saw the Alpha casually walk up to me.

"When the flower blooms, it imitates a scent that draws all the mammals to it. Then it traps it within its bloom. Just as how your scent is drawing me to you."

"Umm thanks?" I try to be as stoic as possible. If I am going to stay here, I need to remain away from the Alpha's grip once I find a way out of this place.

The Alpha purses his lips. "Care to join me for a walk?"

"Why did you bring me here?" I cross my arms.

"If you insist. I wanted us to enjoy a nice picnic."

"Not outside?"

"That is a risk I'm not willing to take. There are dangerous things in the woods, and I can't let you get hurt."The Alpha brings his hands out but I walk right past him. I'm not falling for his prince charming tricks. Seconds from now, he's going to pin me in a corner and demand sex after acting like a charming prince. He's no different from the men in my hometown.

I find myself in a place where a nice velvet blanket is slayed on the ground. There are some foods made ready for us. I sit cross legged on the blanket soft on my skin. The Alpha helps himself fit next to me. I ignore his gaze sitting on me, watching my every move as I take a bite from a strawberry dipped in chocolate.

"What do you think?"

"Of what?" I try to remind myself.

"Everything."

"Pretty," I say simply.

The Alpha shifts from his leaning position and lays on his back instead. He stares into the vine covered stone ceiling. He seems to relax like this. I take more of the little desserts available to me. Back at home, we never really had enough money to buy freshly baked desserts. The only type of desert we had was cake— which was only once a year for the holidays.

"Aren't you going to eat?"

"I'm not a fan of sweats. Besides, I want you to eat as much as you can. Perhaps you'll put on some weight on that body of yours before the Mate Ceremony."

I put down the tiny- sized cupcake. "What is this Mate Ceremony you all keep talking about you?"

"That is the day where you will be forever bonded to me."

"So that is what you and the councilmen are talking about."

The Alpha shifts back on his arms. "Where are you listening to our conversations?"

"When Oscar came, he said you had to see the Councilmen."

"Whatever I discuss with the councilmen is not your business. You are my mate and that is all you will ever need to know."

"Just like the other woman before me?"

Alpha Rhy's lips spread thin. "Why are you asking so many questions today?"

"Since we are going to be bonded, I might as well get to know the man who took me from my home."

He sighs. "What is there to know?"

"I want to know if there are women before. Do you dispose of them."

"You are paranoid. There is nothing to be afraid of. You are safe here."

My body goes warm from his hand on my lap again. He rubs my lap, eyes trained on me still. I try my best and ignore his gaze and continue eating my deserts, despite his words from before.

The Alpha kneels suddenly, taking his large hands to my face. "You have something on your lips." He wipes the crumbs from the side of my lips.

"Okay, thanks for letting me know." I swat his hands away, but he doesn't budge.

His thumbs caress the corners of my lips. Inching to the surface of my lips.

"I want to kiss you so bad right now. It's driving me crazy." And he does mean what he says. The Alpha inches close to my face, and plants a soft butterfly kiss on my wet lips. I give in to his gentle touch– just for a moment then I push him away.

The Alpha licks his lips. Eyes telling me he wants to taste more of me. But their sinful gaze of his looks subsides. He groans out loud.

"Why did I try to spend some time with my beloved, you are disrupting me." I don't know what he is talking about until I catch a glimpse of the same silver armors walking from behind me.

"Sorry, Alpha Rhys but you are needed again."

He rises from the blanket. "After the Mate Ceremony, inform the Council that I will be spending more than a week with my mate. Privately." He flashes a smile at me. Sinful thirtyful gaze lingering behind his words.
