Helping Hand

Ryder was helping Team RWBY Set up for the upcoming dance. It hadn't been that long since he attempted to fly. So, he hasn't had much time to practice his flight ability. He decided to aid Team RWBY in their endeavor in decorating for the upcoming dance that Beacon's having. He moved a large speaker into place before Weiss approached him with two pieces of cloth in her hands. Ryder took notice of her presence and looked towards her.

"I need you to pick a tablecloth." Weiss said, holding out the two pieces of cloth.

They seemed similar in color, but Ryder noticed one was slightly brighter. But he wasn't going off brightness.

"Go with Eggshell. It'll look better once we have everything set up." Ryder said.

"Thank you." Weiss said, seemingly happy that someone gets it.

She walks off leaving Ryder confused. Ryder just shrugs his shoulders and walks over to Ruby. He noticed her glum state and was wondering what caused it. As he approaches, Yang walks over to Ruby with a large speaker in her hands. She sets it on the ground before looking at Ruby.

"So, have you picked out a dress yet?" Yang asks.

"What's the point?" Ruby asks, sounding sad. "Who cares about the dance if Blake isn't going."

"Oh, don't worry; she's going." Yang said.

"Wait, what's going on with Blake?" Ryder asks.

"Blake says the dance is stupid. She's most likely still locked up on the whole White Fang issue." Yang explains.

"Oh, I see." Ryder said, now understanding the situation.

"Have you picked out anything nice for the dance?" Yang asks.

"Not really. I've never been one for dances. Never even during my time on Earth, I just never saw the need." Ryder.

"You should give it a shot. It could be fun." Yang said, trying to encourage Ryder into going to the dance.

"I'll think about it." Ryder said.

Yang looks over to Weiss and then gains an exasperated expression.

"Weiss! I thought we agreed: no doilies!" Yang argues.

The Heiress walks up to Yang and points at her.

"If I don't get doilies, you don't get fog machines!" Weiss argues back.

They're arguing was interrupted by the sound of doors opening. They look over and see that Sun and Neptune have arrived.

"Your dance is gonna have fog machines?" Neptune asks.

Weiss then makes a complete 180.

"We were thinking about it." Weiss said.

Ryder couldn't help but smile in amusement.

"That's pretty cool." Neptune comments.

"You ladies all excited for dress-up?" Sun asks.

"Pfft... yeah, right." Ruby said.

"Laugh all you want. I'll be turning heads tomorrow night." Yang boasts.

"What are you two wearing?" Weiss asks.

"Uuuhhh... this?" Sun said, gesturing to his current outfit.

It didn't exactly scream formality. Neptune then steps up and holds a hand in front of his friend's face.

"Ignore him for he knows not what he says." Neptune said.

Sun moves Neptune's hand away from his face.

"Hey, I may have moved to Mistral, but i grew up in Vacuo. It's not exactly a shirt and tie kind of place." Sun argued.

Yang, Ruby, Weiss and Ryder gave them a look of being told something extremely obvious.

"We've noticed." Ryder said.

"Sooo... what does Blake think about all this?" Sun asks. "She still being all, y'know... Blake-y?"

"Obviously." Weiss answers.

"I still can't think of a way to change her mind." Ruby said.

"Guys." Yang says, getting everyone's attention as she makes her way towards the door. "Trust me; Blake will be at the dance tomorrow."

Once Yang leaves, Sun walks over to Ryder making Ryder look at him.

"So, is Kairos going to the Dance?" Sun asks.

"No. He has absolutely no interest in it." Ryder said.

"Ah, bummer. Would've been cool having him there. Would made the party better." Sun said.

"Why?" Ryder asks.

"He seems like a cool dude, and I was curious how he parties. But now I guess he doesn't party." Sun said. "Are you going?"

"Not sure. Never really been one for parties." Ryder said.

"I think you should go. It'll be a nice way for you to break out of your anti-social shell." Ruby adds.

"True. Alright, I'll go." Ryder said.

"Well, at least someone cool is going to be at the dance." Sun said.

"What about me?" Neptune asks.

"Oh, don't get me wrong. You're cool, but I was hoping more cool people would be there." Sun explains.

At this point, Ryder couldn't tell if the party will be fun or not. It probably will, but a part of him is unsure. Most likely his anxiety working its magic. He also doesn't know what to expect from this dance, maybe it could be a fresh experience for him.
