The feeble pickpocket, realizing the futility of resisting my superior presence, surrenders my property without further ado. With an imperious air, I graciously let him go, knowing that his life has been forever changed by the encounter with my unparalleled greatness. my gaze scanning the surroundings for the next unfortunate leech on society—someone whose ill-gotten gains I can confiscate for the greater good of the people, yes the people.
Throughout the day, we, under the great leadership of myself of course, engage in the noble pursuit of ridding the streets of misplaced goods, accumulating a total of 14 silvers. But unfortunately, we have to give it all to the Gray Cobra gang. I was told that as initiates we only get paid 7 silvers, biweekly.
Yet, I am unfazed by this injustice, for I am certain that my unparalleled greatness will not go unnoticed. Surely, the leaders of the Gray Cobra gang will recognize my exceptional abilities and elevate me above the common rabble in due time.
Buying extra clean shirts while I am out, I return to my home and eat. After that, I switch out my bandages and go to bed. Well in bed I wonder on what my special power would be, following tropes the wizard was clearly checking us on some sort of special power. I don't seem any different from the way I was before reincarnating though. It is probably related to the fact that I broke out of that mind-control spell.
Although I wonder what they were going to do with the people whose special ability was above awarige. There did not seem to be many, the wizard only left alive 4 people by the time I ran away.
I don't think they are stupid enough that they would just leave them to their business and hope that they would just happen to kill the demon king. They would probably control them or something with magic. Maybe tell them that they would return them to their world.
I would probably need to take the ritual from the castle, I doubt that I can find it anywhere else. I'll leave that to future days my. For now, I need to get into that academy I need more information about that place than just, it's a place where nobles learn magic.
I will need to go on a break day. Inconveniently the structure of this worlds weak is made up of eight days and only has one break day.
I'll figure that out after I get enough money to fund getting the information. Maybe from information dealers or something. Where can you even find information dealers, I'll ask somebody from the gang.
After a couple of days of definitely legal, repetitive work the break day finally came.
Putting on my clothes and slightly burneded mask I head into the rich part of the city.
Walking down the streets, now this is the place I actually belong, the streets are clean it doesn't smell like crap and I'm not constantly looking around for pickpockets to not get my money stolen because there are actual guards around the streets.
curiously I don't see any species other than humans, maby the humans are racist or something, I don't really care.
On my illustrious journey to the academy, a pair of guards, clearly astounded by the radiance of my presence, dare to obstruct my path. "Hark! What art thou doing in these parts, varlet?" one of the fools bellows, his voice unable to grasp the grandeur of my being. The other, in his feeble attempt to address me, adds, "The likes of thee, dwelling in the slums, hath no leave to tread these grounds."
Suppressing the overwhelming urge to educate them on the sheer privilege of having me grace their mundane surroundings, I restrain myself from bursting out in rage at the audacity of calling my magnificent self a slum dweller.
Turning around to leave these clearly senseless men, one of them persisting, "Where do you think you're headed? We're going to have to detain you for your bold intrusion." The audacity! Singing my disdain for their pitiful attempts at authority, I swiftly book it away from these mere annoyances, for they clearly have nothing better to do than hinder my majestic progress.
Turning around I see the two dimwits chasing me. I try to find a crowd to get lost in but I suppose the early morning was not the best time to come here.
Unfortunately, another guard in front of me notices me running away. He readies his sword, his intention to intersect me.
I barely doge his stab and shank him in the stomach with my dagger so he does not chase me too.
One of the guards stays behind with the injured guard, and the other one pursues me, screaming at me to stop and face justice and such silly stuff.
Another guard stands betwine me and the slums, alerted by the guard he faces me. Sigh classism is so annoying.
parrying his first slash with my sword, I fante a stab with my sword but I actually shank him in the side.
Hoping that the injured guard would serve as a distraction, I dashed into the slums, leaving the mess of classist guards behind. After a couple more minutes of running, I turned around to find no one foolish enough to continue chasing me. Chuckling at their futile efforts. Buying a blank black mask cost me another 4 bronze, which is annoying but I can't use the same mask again after what I did.
