Chapter 83

Monday Morning 7 am.

Elizabeth opened her eyes to the morning light that hit her eyes. As air entered through her nose and exhaled the same way, she could feel her thoughts drift off to the incident in the forest. It was all she could think about after that day, and as she forced herself up to look around her disorganized room with her clothes thrown about everywhere, her eyes drift to a photo on her nightstand. She hesitantly picked the frame up to examine the two photos.

The photo to the right showed it's age compared to the much newer photo to the left. The right photo had lost majority of its color but should three figures. It was a younger version of herself with the same long silver hair braided into elegant ponytail that rested on her left shoulder. The person to her right was a Amay of equal height with her hair in a bun while wearing her favorite kimono during the time.

A small chuckle left her mouth as she remembered Amay trying her best to convince her to get one as a well.

"You goof ball," She whispered as her eyes drifted over to the other figure. Her hair was a mess and untamed while her eyes were wide curious looked straight into the camera. Compared to them, she was no more then a early to late teen.

"Ah. My young Martha," Elizabeth said as her smile became bigger thinking about that day. That small moment out of the craziness to enjoy themselves. A long sigh left her mouth as she missed that day. Her eyes then moved over to the most recent photo.

In this photo, it was her and Edward getting married. Her stomach was out as Lucas had yet to be born. That was another good day she wished she could relive. She couldn't help but wish they could have stayed happily married together, but they both agreed it was for the best.

Her smile turned bitter as she had to pull herself back to the current moment. Her mind drifted back to her son and Amay. She couldn't get passed how he stood up for her and called her into question like that. What got her the most was how they just walked off together afterwards. She felt her own heart shift from the uncomfortable guilt that grew from thinking about it. Elizabeth closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"One step at a time. No point in worrying about it when there's other things I need to handle." Elizabeth told herself as she pushed her guilt deeper inside her heart. When she opened her eyes, they felt heavy but her guilt was gone for the most part. "I guess I can get ready to make a call to that dumbass," she chuckled.

Without another word, Elizabeth got out of bed and went to her closet to get dressed. Instead of going with something flashy, today was a lazy day. She just put on one of Edward's old shirts, she "borrowed" from the times he came over. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled a little as she pulled her hair fully out.

"Still as beautiful as ever." She told herself as she giggled. Elizabeth even did a twirl as she enjoyed her own confidence boost. She finally made her way to her bedroom and gracefully made her way downstairs to find Martha looking out the window. "Morning Sweetie."

"Good morning." Martha said taking her eyes away from Lucas and Amay walking to look at her mother wearing Edward's Queen shirt. "You still haven't given it back."

"If he wanted it back, all he has to do is take it from me. Besides, we knows I wear it better then him," Elizabeth smugly told her daughter as she placed her hands on her hips.

Martha just looked at her for a solid moment with her emotionless eyes and blank face. She then turned her head back to see if Amay and Lucas were still within her vision or not.

"How are...they?" Elizabeth asked feeling her smile fade as concern did feel her voice. She held her arm a little as she wanted to give them their space.

"They calmed down. Lucas is heading to work and Amay wanted to tag along." Martha answered as she turned away from the window. She walked over towards the stove and placed a pot on. "Would you like coffee or tea?"

"Coffee would be fine," Elizabeth asked as she took a seat at the island. She exhaled as she felt her guilt comeback as she couldn't bury it like the rest. "Sweetie. Was I in the wrong?"

"No ma'am." Martha said as she began to fix Elizabeth her cup of coffee.

"Be honest, Martha."

Martha paused for a moment as she began to pour vanilla creamer in the dark brown cup. She raised the creamer back as her hazel eyes began to think, but she couldn't think of an answer. "I don't know."

"It was all over the place. We thought they would have been fine, but we didn't expect her. I feel like we should have done more, but at the same time....I just don't know." Martha confessed as she placed the cup in front of Elizabeth. "I just don't know."

Elizabeth saw Martha hands jitter as she exhaled and shook her head. "I see." She said as she bought the cup of coffee to her lips. Even with the warm liquid flowing through her body it still couldn't make her guilt go away. "Thank you, sweetie."

Martha nodded her head as she looked around nervously. "Mama, could we continue the story later on today." She sheepishly asked Elizabeth.

Even with all these thoughts and feels, Elizabeth couldn't help but softly smile at her daughter. "Of course. Whenever you want to start, we can." She told Martha as she watched the life flow into her eyes and her soft smile warmed her heart.

"Yes, ma'am and thank you." Martha said barely holding back her excitement.

Elizabeth giggled seeing her daughter try to keep her excitement hidden. She then slid her phone closer to her and went into her context to find Edward's number. "Would you like to stay in here, while I talk to Edward?" She asked Martha right before she pressed the call button.

"I need to shower," Martha declined as she scratched her head and feeling the knots.

"Okay then. See you when your done." Elizabeth said as Edward started to pick up the phone. She watched as Martha quietly exit the room.

Edward took a sip of his creme soda as he sat inside his car watching the beach. "Hey Babymama. What's the drama?" Edward jokingly asked as his eyes followed a couple jogging by. He heard Elizabeth let out a long sigh and this immediately brought his attention to her voice.

"What happened? Is everyone alright?" He said getting serious and preparing himself for the worst. "Start from the beginning."

"Okay." Elizabeth said as she began to tell Edward everything that happened. She found herself pausing a few times to hold back her tears and emotions as she told him every last detail. Even with them being states away, Elizabeth felt as if Edward was on the other side of the table holding her hands as she told him everything and he just listened to her.

"And he suddenly snapped and cursed at him for being wrong and not preparing them or not taking the double precautions, they needed. Then they locked eyes then left me and Martha there." Elizabeth finished as she held her head in her hands. "I feel like it's my fault this all happened, but I didn't think it would have happened. Now Lucas hates me along with Amay."

"Hey. Hey. It's alright. It's alright." Edward said leaning forward in his seat. He let out a sigh before sinking in her seat. "Buuuut....you did fuck up...pretty badly."

"Edward!?" Elizabeth said actually surprised.

"I'm sorry babe, but Lucas was right. I don't agree with him cussing you out like that. And I plan to sock him in the jaw when I come back there." Edward shrugged while scratching his chin hair. "But his anger is justified."

"But she didn't protect him from her and allowed him to get badly hurt." Elizabeth yelled back.

"Silver Fox, you do realize he was going to get hurt either way. You had him and Amay going against Roy of all Bigfeet." Edward said taking a sip. "He's not the brightest tool and certainly not the strongest out there, but he's a very tough fight for someone like Lucas or Amay in there current state."

"You should have given them more favorable fight, or trained them a little more. You wanted the fight in your favor to make him give up, but you didn't take in mind outside danger. That's were I think you messed up at. I don't think your solely responsible for all the events that transpired. I do think it was fucked up how you snapped at Amay though." Edward took a sip of his pop. "I'm pretty sure she felt shitty already for witnessing the one person she was interested to watch nearly end up on S.V.U."

Elizabeth thought about for a moment and looked down at her coffee nearly seeing her own reflection. "So you think it's all my fault?" She asked in a low voice.

"Again to a certain extent." He said before snapping his fingers trying to recall something. "Got an example for you. Remember when you were pregnant and it was hell for you and some people around."

"Ugh. Don't remind me of that." Elizabeth said as she held her own stomach. She remembered how weak she was and how painful each process went. "I still couldn't get rid of the stretch marks until a full few months later."

"Right," Edward agreed with her remembering how bad it was. "Martha and I had to be by your side every moment of every day. Especially with how weak you were becoming, people, Demi-humans, and just anyone that had a hatred for you were on the prowl. If they fully know about you being pregnant it would have been a shit fest. Do you remember when you went into labor and we had to go to a hospital because of how much pain you were in?"

"Yeah. I still owe the Dumont's and so many more my life for coming to protect me on such short notice." Elizabeth sighed as she remembered half of that day as the rest was a blur.

"Okay. Imagine that situation but instead of me calling in favors, I decided to tough it out with just Martha and I. To add extra cherry on the cake, I sneak off with a nurse, leaving Martha to defend you by herself. You see where I'm getting at." Edward finished with taking another sip of his drink.

"Oh." Elizabeth said thinking about that situation and how drastically different it would have went.

"Yep. So, it would have been your fault for not being extra prepared or taking in the possibilities of something going wrong. That's just rule number one, baby." Edward said with a sigh. He heard Elizabeth silent moment as she took it all in, and he could hear her sobbing a little.

"They must hate me for all of this." Elizabeth said as her tears narrowly missed the phone.

"I don't think they do. I think they are more upset. Our son might be traumatized, so we have to get him some help to process all of what happened, or he could be fine. Who knows? Amay, I imagine is more hurt with the fact you blamed her and threatened to kick her out. You might want to just give them some space. I imagine this whole event created a bond between them, so let them figure this out together and approach them separately to talk about it and what they would like to do."

"....Okay. Are you sure?" Elizabeth said holding her hand down flat on the table. Her hand slightly shaking as she didn't know what to do or what the right steps would be.

"We won't fully know. We just have to give them space and not force them." Edward exhaled feeling a little unsure of himself. "Tell you what. I will pack up tonight, and make the drive to check on everyone."

"You know you don't have to do that," Elizabeth told him in a soft voice as her left index finger started to move in a circle on the table.

"Nah. I'm worried now and want to check on all of you," Edward said as he looked at his maps to get back to the hotel. While he was looking, a message popped up on his phone. This single text brought a big smile to his face and made him do a single fist pump. "Besides, I especially want to check on you. I want to check up on those curves and hips, and maybe do a little thorough examination between the two of us."

"Oh? So, you're a doctor now?" Elizabeth flirted with a giggle while wiping away her tears.

"I don't know about that, but I do have a PHD. And not to brag, I've been told to be an expert in my field of study." Edward chuckled to himself. He heard her giggle into the phone as the next part caught him a little off guard and brought a big smile to his face.

"I guess we will have to test your theory then run a few trails, doctor." Elizabeth said in a seductive voice. "I'll be in the waiting room until you call my name then."

They both paused for a moment as they couldn't help but laugh at their flirtatious remarks. With a few minutes passing, Elizabeth finally spoke.

"Thank you, Edward." She said in a longing voice. "This gave me a lot to think about now."

"No problem. I might not be around or the best, but you keeping me in the loop of things help out. Plus, I don't want you to fill like it's all on you." Edward told her as he looked at the ocean one more time.

"I know."

"I love you, my foxy lady." Edward said in a goofy voice.

"Goodbye, my clever dumbass." Elizabeth giggled to him before hanging up the phone. A long sigh left her mouth as she thought about his words and everything that happened once again. "Give them time." She told herself before her mind drifted off to how her son and Amay were doing now.
