A Present and Goodbye

Emma and I are standing in a tower overlooking the lake.

“Thank you for helping me save my people,” says Emma.

“No problem,” I said. I look out at the Lake, “The Dark Lord’s forces will come back again. Maybe worse.”

“Don’t worry,” she says. “I have a plan set already to counter that.”

She turns to me and smiles, “I’m going to have your town and this place connect via our shadow teleportation. That way my people can go and come back as they please without having to worry about being caught by the Dark Lord.”

I chuckle, “I don’t think Dane is going to be happy about that.”

“Don’t worry,” she says, yawning. “I talked to her about my plan a while back.”

“You talked with Dane?”

“My reach has no bounds luv.”

We look at the sunset.

“Look,” I said. “I’m sorry we couldn’t save everyone.”

“Don’t be sorry,” she turns to me with her hand over her heart. “We die by honor. That’s the way we live.”

I hear someone sneak up the stairs.

I sigh, “No point in hiding Merry.”

Merry sticks her head out from the staircase. She slowly approaches us.

“So you’re the little lady that saved Ralf,” says Emma.

Merry nods.

“If it weren’t for your bravery in saving Ralf things would have taken a different turn.” Emma bows, “Thank you.”

Merry slowly bows, “Um. You're welcome.”

Emma turns to me, “I have a present for you.” She opens a box next to her.

She takes out a blade, “This blade is made from the strongest metal we could find.” She hands it to me, “It is now yours.”

“Woah,” I said, examining it. I see my reflection on the blade. “Thank you.”

She kisses me on the head.

I look up dumbfounded.

She smirks, “I did say I was gonna give you a kiss a long time ago luv.”

I look down to see Merry and I begin to sink into the shadows.

“Until then,” she says waving.

I opened my eyes to see that we were back in the forest.

“Ralf?” says Merry.

I don’t respond.

“RALF!”

“Wah?” I said.

She looks at me with a smirk, “You like her.”

“I do not!”

“Yes, you do!”

I clear my throat, “Let's head back home.”

Merry offers her hand with a big smile. I accept it now smiling.

I think to myself, “Don’t worry Foster and Glenn. I’ll protect Merry at all costs.”
