Chapter 8

(Knox's POV):She was beautiful. Her long black hair cascaded down her back, and her Sapphire blue eyes were changing to an orange-goldish color. Her voice commanded my attention.

Most Alpha's don't like to be bossed around, but listening to her voice was like listening to the ocean, and I'd let this innocent girl talk all she wants. Gosh I don't even know the girl and I'm already whipped. My wolf Quest was begging and he was muttering one word over and over again. But I couldn't hear what he was saying, so when I asked I was ignored.

I was snapped back to reality when the sweet, innocent girl started to get agitated and made her point across. She wanted me to reveal my supernatural race to her. And to be honest, that was surprising! I don't understand why this human can make me feel like this. Nobody can make me feel like this. I'm staying loyal and saving myself for my—Suddenly she touched me to stitch me up, and fireworks erupt everywhere she touches. I can tell she feels them too because she gasped and pulled away. But what I don't understand is that she had touched me before and I've felt nothing.

'Mate, mate, mate, mate!" He yips around in my head. He started sounding like the seagulls in finding nemo.

I've waited years for this moment! Always wondering how, when and if I'd meet my mate. And here she is. It only took me getting hit by a car to find her. Her eyes flickered back from sapphire to the orange-gold. I whimpered at the loss of contact between us.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you!" She says.

She must have mistaken my whimper as a whimper of pain. I tried to scoot closer to her and reassure her I wasn't in pain. Giving her my best puppy eyes. She relaxed and began to continue her work.

'Alpha?' Several voices reached me at the same time.

The voices gave me a massive headache, but knowing that if I didn't answer them. More problems could arise. And I didn't want nor need that right now. So I answered my pack back.

'I'm alright' I tell them.

'Where are you Alpha?' my Beta asked.

'Zev, I'm fine. How's the pack in my absence?' I asked.

'Becoming more and more restless with your absence! Where are you?' Zev says, and his tone laced with worry.

'I don't exactly know. But I found my mate, and she's taking care of me-' I feel the link has become weaker.

'I have to make this quick, I'm starting to lose consciousness. As long as you and Lance are keeping the pack together I will be fine, I'll try to make it back as soon as-' black dots start to dance across my vision.

'As soon as I can.' I finished right before I black out to the feeling of sparks on my ribs in wolf form.

Tala's POV: I watched as she finished stitching my mate up. Leaving him unconscious in the room. The charcoal haired girl began to explore her new home, and I watched her from a distance. I started getting really eager as she made her way closer and closer to the Library. I could already get a vibe of "I love reading" from this girl. She stopped at the Library doors, shaking her head and walking past.

'No, go to the Library!' I screamed, but of course she couldn't hear me. But suddenly she stopped immediately in her tracks, and turned around. Heading towards the library, I begin to have this giddy feeling. So I followed her, I noticed her expression. Awe!

She looked at the bookshelves and bagan running her finger over their spines. I got more anticipated when she neared a certain book. She stopped at that book, pulling it off of the shelf and she read the cover aloud.

"Tox's? What's a Tox?" She flipped open the book and then I felt it begin.

I felt myself being lowered to the ground, after decades of floating and not being able to touch a thing or be heard; I was placed on the beautiful soft white carpet. My paws were tingling with the soft feeling, I have always imagined what it felt like but nothing could have prepared me for what it actually felt like. And well, I love it! All four of my paws wiggled as the carpet squished between them. I chuckled, which sounded weird coming from an animal. Finally bursting from my inner bubble of amazement, I watched the charcoal black haired girl read about my species. I finally concluded to approach her. Only, how?

"Hello Lexia." I say.

The girl whirled around wide eyed and looked around confused. That is until her eyes landed on me and she took in every detail; then her eyes widened in recognition.

"You're a Tox, cool. Are you a shifter?" she asked.

"No Lexia. I am not a shifter, actually I am a Tox Spirit. Looking for my other half." I was about to tell her the rest but she spoke.

"Good luck, um?" She trails off.

"Tala, and I already found her." I say grinning at Lexia.

Lexia looked confused, so I continued, "Lexia, you're my other half!" I rushed out.

I waited for her response, and when all she did was give me a small mischievous grin. I decided to ask her the final question. Usually this process isn't what happens. Usually you're born into your race, or event turned. But this time it is different. We are different!

"Do you accept me?" I asked her.

She was silent for a minute, but she nodded. I gleefully sprinted towards her, I guess she didn't expect what I did next because she jumped back. but I still got to her! Jumping at her I phased right through her chest and right into her soul. Almost completing her soul! Our souls molded together and we were now bound together for life, I felt almost complete. The only part missing was my mate, and I have a feeling we will be seeing him sooner than anything.

Suddenly I was filled with all Lexia's memories, thoughts and dreams. Almost like I grew up with her, I could now know her like the back of my paw.

'Hello Lexia!' I said quite cheerily.

"Tala? What's going on?" She asked worriedly.

"We are bound through soul, body and mind.' I say.

I could feel the joy in her attitude.

'Now, what do you say? We should take care after our friendly wolf.' She says.

Lexia's POV: I made my way out of the Library, and Tala began to talk and tell me about herself. As I listened I began to get this weird feeling, and a scent caught my attention. The smell of mint and citrus wafted up my nose. I started following this new scent and it led me to the wolf still unconscious on my table. Suddenly Tala began saying a word I'd never heard of in my life.

'Mate!' She says.

'Mate is handsome.' She sighed dreamily.

Tala was eye raping our mates body. She's been going on about how handsome he is. And I have to agree he is one of the most handsome males I have ever seen, even in wolf form. I pulled up a chair and started reading the book I found on Tox's. Apparently Tox's are Hybrid animals; that are part fox and part tiger. They have the body shape of foxes, and the patterns of a tiger. All Tox's are different colors, and are of all sizes that are controlled by the shifter. And an interesting fact was that they have a tiger-like appetite. Tala was a black Tox with orange tattoo like designs, that curled, waved and spiraled over her fur.

Suddenly the Alpha moved, he took a big sniff in the air and growled. Uh Oh! His nose flared in anger or disgust. Couldn't really tell.

'Tala?' I asked.

She'd gone silent.

Why do I feel so scared? The Alpha tried getting up, but ended up slipping on the sheet and falling. Automatically I dove to catch him. I made sure to flip him so he landed on top of me, and it worked. The Alpha looked ok, until he realized he was on top of me then we had a little problem. He tried standing back up but ended up howling in pain and dropping back on top of me. This worried me, so I quickly got up and lifted him up with me. Putting him on the couch I tried to work the tv. And after a lot of fooling around with the wiring I finally got it on. The news was talking about a serial killer attack.

"Probably Savage Vampires!" I muttered, completely forgetting that the Alpha can hear me.

The Alpha gave me a bark, and I whipped around to see him watching me with his tongue lolling out of one side of his mouth, if I didn't know of the supernatural world I would have mistaken him for a normal dog that was part wolf. I got up and started to make my way to the kitchen, this house was piled with my boxes in some areas. Some filled with school supplies, and others with stuff to entertain myself with, and also my clothes and toiletries. Soon I could hear the wolf's snores indicating that he's sleeping. I went up the stairs and began exploring. This house has so many rooms, I might get lost!

I found a room that was most likely a bedroom; and began to bring my personal boxes in. As I started unpacking I felt an uneasy feeling come over me; almost as if I'm being watched. But this feeling quickly fades when I shut my door and play some music. The playlist starts with a song by Fall out boy. Singing and dancing as I unpacked, I was unaware of the listener downstairs.

Queste's POV: My human other half Knox might be sleeping, but I was wide awake listening to the Angelic voice of my mate. As she sings a song by Fall out boy; I laid on her table and listened. Suddenly the room got cold. And I felt the wind blow my fur. Wait wind? Last I checked the doors are shut tight and it's pouring rain outside, I don't remember any sort of wind. Then I sniffed the air and it smelt stale, what has a stale smell? Shoot!

'Knox, Knox, KNOX!' I yelled at him to wake up.

'Shhhhhhhhhhhh.' He growled at me.

'Mate's in trouble.' I growled back.

'Huh?'

'Did I stutter?' I asked.

'Something. Is. In. Here. And. It's. Going. After. Mate.' I roared at him.

That caused him to open his eyes. We were almost healed; but right now our mate needed us! So standing up we went upstairs following our mate's scent. Her scent was strongest at a certain door, so scratching it lightly I waited for her. She opened up right away and her face went from confusion to anger, causing both of us to cower away. Almost as if a switch flipped she stepped aside letting us in, but spoke.

"If you're gonna be in here at least lay on the bed, so you don't hurt yourself." She sighed.

I do as she says and she shuts the door. But not before I get a glimpse out in the hallway, and catch a grinning shadow. I stared wide eyed as it imitated cutting someone's head off. Its faceless head tilts sideways. And then the shadows pointing at my mate before it waves a little bye bye. I growled at it, but it disappeared and after hearing my growl my mate looked over at me confused. I forget what she said and inched closer to her, pushing her away from the closed door. That thing wants to kill her!

'Mate is not leaving this room without us, actually. She is not to leave our sight and side.' Knox growled.

I growled back in agreement. That shadow will not take away the only happiness I have left. And if I have to lay down my life for that to happen, then I gladly will! Knox agreed, and said his own vow about protecting our mate at the cost of anything. Our mate sat down on her bed and she began to read about Tox's.

No clue what those are. The only thing I care about is my mate, Lexia!

Leaping up onto her bed, I circled around and laid down as close as I could to her. And I grinned when I realized I could rest my head on her lap!

'Such a tragedy she has her shirt on.' I purred.

'Quest, stop it' Knox snapped, causing me to chuckle.

Sparks flew beneath my jaw, and wherever I touched Lexia! Knox takes control and shuts me out; even though he can't hear me I still give a little sound of disappointment.

'hmmp.'
