- Teo POV -
....
"I'm sure she's going to be here any moment," I repeat, as though the more I say it the quicker it will summon Layla back to her room. I fidget from where I am sitting on Layla's bed and glimpse through my lashes at the Headmistress that is moving slowly throughout the room and looking at things that catch her interest.
I doubt Layla would be happy to hear she is poking through her things, but I can feel the tension in the air between us as sharp as a knife. A step in the wrong direction could set her off in a way we can't take back.
I'm not happy about being put in this situation, but I do want to help Layla. She is doing the harder part of this scheme anyhow, so I need to stay calm and keep my heartbeat level so the Headmistress doesn't suspect anything. Its simple, really. But I can't help but be worried at the repercussions.
