CHAPTER 1

"I Derek James Clarke reject you as my mate." He said with a mischievous smirk, his eyes were glowing with amusement. He wanted to see me hurt.

My wolf howled in pain, but me I was furious. He was so cocky to think I would even want him as my mate. I channeled my anger, and threw my head back laughing at him. I peered at him and smirked then spoke, "Oh Derek, baby, do I look like I give a damn?"

His mouth dropped open in shock and just kinda hung there for a moment. Pride surged through me as I walked away. I grabbed my best friend who was standing beside me still gawking at what just happened.

"He's the alpha you idiot! Are you insane?" Layla screamed at me, I knew she wasn't actually mad since a trace of amusement was in her voice.

"I know he is Layla which is exactly why I did it. Which yes, some people would say makes me insane, however I think it just makes me smart." A smirk was snug on my lips as I walked down the hallways of our school, a new confidence held my head high.

I was proud not only of what I just did, but of who I did it to.

But deep inside there was a small twinge in my stomach. A small concern in the back of my mind. I was a little hurt, hurt because I was rejected, which sounds pathetic and I know that. More importantly though I was concerned because no one does that to the Alpha without paying for it. I didn't know how long I could walk the line of insanity to compete.

Katerina's POV

"Katerina! You're going to be late!" My mom screamed, and it echoed through out the house. I groaned as I swung my legs from my bed to the cold, wood floors. I stretched and then began to stumbled towards my bathroom.

I turned on the shower and got in, relishing the hot water washing off my sleep.

After my shower I blow dried my hair, not much I could do to, it stayed messy and untamed. I put on mascara because who the hell did I have to impress? No one. I threw on a hoodie and my vans and then walked out my door one headphone in swinging to the beat. I yelled a goodbye to my mom but didn't hear a response back.

"If I was Jay-Z you'd be my Beyoncé we can rock the world like they do..."

These lyrics blasted through my headphones as I got into my Jeep to go pick up Layla.

"Finally!" Layla over-exaggerated as she got into my Jeep. She was always so sassy with me.

I personally had always envied her she was tall, but not too tall, she was curvy but in a nice way, her eyes were bright blue electric almost, also her hair was a nice dirty blonde with random colored streaks throughout the underlay, her hair was short, about shoulder length and no one looked better with short hair.

So yes, she was breathtaking, and me? Well I've always been under the radar average.

She was dressed in a fit and flare dress with converse. Making me look homeless.

"Sorry your majesty." I replied sarcasm lacing my tone. She just rolled her eyes and took out my headphones and plugged my music into the speaker.

We were crazy. But all the best people are right?

When we got to school we stopped the music and walked in.

Ahhhh yes the sweet wonders of high school. To our left was some geeks shyly smiling at us, and to our right were a couple making out. This is the life. Note the sarcasm.

"So are you excited?" Layla practically screamed into my ear.

"What do you mean?" I asked my eyebrows furrowed into confusion and pain from her shrill voice.

"The party tonight? We are making you look hot no ands, ifs, or buts."

"Fine Layla." I only agreed because I knew it would make her happy, and maybe I could use a little change. Just some sort of excitement in my dull life.

That's when the smell hit me it was a mixture of evergreens and well axe. My wolf got excited she was literally jumping for joy.

I ignored it though. I didn't care to find my mate. "Uh oh, trouble is heading our way and he looks angry." Layla warned.

I looked up as the smell began to get closer. I sighed, of course moon goddess had to make him my mate. The worst person to hit the face of this stupid planet, what did I ever do to you moon goddess?

For fuck's sake he had his flavor of the week on his arm!

It was none other then Derek Clarke, our schools bad boy. Trust me when I say he's an egotistical jerk and I have never understood why girls fell at his feet, I still don't. No boy should ever be worshipped like a god when he's nothing but the dirt we walk on.

Layla's head lowered. What an obedient little wolf bowing to her Alpha. I looked at her, shook my head, then looked at him and held my head high.

"What do you want?" I snapped and he laughed, "I Derek James Clarke reject you as my mate." He said with a mischievous smirk, his eyes were glowing with amusement. He wanted to see me hurt.
