Chapter 24

Beth's POV

A loud sound startled me and made me look towards the door only to see Aaron pushing the door open. He stood right at the entrance but didn’t fully enter the room.

Beside him was a young boy whose height only reached Aaron's knees.

The boy looked very cute with his chocolate brown eyes and his little pink lips that he nervously kept biting.

"He’s Heath," Aaron said and causally rubbed the boy’s head.

"His parents are from this part; they both died in the plague rendering him orphaned," Aaron said. His voice is soft and full of compassion for the little boy.

"I’ve already adopted him and he has now become my son, I’d like the two of you to officially meet."

I scooted closer to him and tentatively put my hand on his shoulder. I could feel his body shaking a little bit, and it seemed he is not yet over the demise of his parents.

I gave him a kind and friendly look before I finally hugged him.
