Ambush

The vast mouth of the low-hanging clouds, which looked as if it were about to devour everything in its path, was suddenly penetrated by a beam of radiant light. A deafening boom resounded as the clouds dispersed abruptly, restoring the tranquility of the night sky as if nothing had transpired.

Father Omar stumbled back in astonishment, staring at Jason in disbelief. "Impossible... How could you...?"

"If I wanted to," Jason stepped closer, his gaze icy, "that sword could have run you through. Tell me, why would you want to kill an innocent girl? I'll give you one chance to speak, a chance for your soul to find redemption. God may forgive you."

Color drained from Father Omar's face before he regained his composure. "You are walking on the side against God. God's will cannot be resisted. You can still repent now, and perhaps we will not hold you accountable."

Undeterred, Jason pressed on. "Tell me, which god wants Sofia's life? Why resort to such manipulations? First a witch, then you, a priest who claims to serve God. Who is it really? What is Sofia's identity?"

"You'll regret it!" The Priest's voice trembled as Jason took another step forward, causing him to retreat instinctively.

"I assure you, the one who will regret is you!" Jason's cold gaze never left Omar, "Tell me, who is this god?"

As Father Omar hesitated, the previously dispersed clouds gathered again and a bolt of lightning struck down, not at Jason, but at Omar himself.

A sword materialized in Jason's hand, meeting the lightning bolt, causing it to vanish instantly. The force filled Jason like an inflated balloon, causing his clothes to billow outwards.

With a wave of his sword, the bolt of lightning was redirected back towards the gathering cloud.

"Boom!" A deep thunderous sound echoed and the clouds dispersed again. Father Omar was nowhere to be seen.

Jason chuckled coldly, pulling out a talisman and throwing it towards the spot where Omar had stood. As it landed, it detonated, leaving behind a trail of glowing embers that flew towards Sofia.

It seemed that Omar intended to hold Sofia hostage. As Jason prepared to rush towards her, he heard the sound of chaos behind him.

Looking back, he saw a horde of townspeople rushing towards him. Like a swarm of blind bees, they charged with snarled faces. Jason chanted a spell and when he looked again, the crowd had transformed into a horde of skeletons and rotting corpses.

A crystal sword appeared in mid-air, and at Jason's command, it turned into a beam of light, slicing through the approaching horde. Explosions sounded as the skeletons and corpses were torn apart.

The scene shifted back to Sofia and Denise, who were anxiously waiting.

"Should we continue waiting?" Denise asked anxiously. Sofia, however, was confident in Jason. At the sound of the commotion, both girls tensed up. Suddenly, Father Omar appeared before them.

"Come with me," he sneered at Sofia, who backed away in fear. Ignoring Denise, Omar attempted to grab Sofia, only to be repelled by an invisible force field, knocking him back.

"Curses!" Omar shouted, waving his staff, creating a swirling vortex of mist in mid-air. The tension in the air was palpable, like a pulled bowstring ready to launch an arrow.

"Die!" Omar pointed his staff at Sofia, turning the vortex into sharp blades of mist aimed at her. The blades, however, exploded upon contact with the invisible force field.

With a roar of frustration, Omar's body seemed to swell, and he swung his staff again, creating more layers of mist. The mist condensed into a whirlpool-like formation, looking like a pool of water in the sky, ready to burst.

"Damn it!" Denise exclaimed, "We're in trouble -"

As if on cue, Omar pointed his staff at Sofia, transforming the condensing mist into sharp blades that shot towards Sofia.
