Damien clenched his jaw as he averted his gaze, "But I can't even protect you now."
Safira reached down to hold his hands in hers.
"Then let it be me who protects you. Your legs will heal. I'm sure of it. We'll find a way," she said with determination.
Safira's words gave him hope. A small flame lit in his heart.
"You truly are my Sunshine," he whispered to her as they touched forehead, "The ray of light I need in the darkness of the abyss."
Safira smiled, "As you are to me, the brightest shining star in the dark night sky."
Damien and Safira kissed on the lips. She wound her hands around his neck as they deepened the kiss while Damien wrapped his arms around her waist. Their bodies were pressed against each other, as close as they could ever be.
