I didn’t know much back then and for all the things that I thought I knew, they were wrong. For the last seven years, I have lived my life in hatred. Now, as I look at my mother, I find myself not knowing what to say. It has been so long since we’ve had a normal, casual conversation. The last time we met, I cast her away from the pack.

My mother stood just behind Herman. My cousin, Thomas, had his men escort them back here just a few hours ago. They weren’t able to talk to Maxim in Gray Seas, so I asked Herman to return here in Dark Mountains. But I didn’t know my mother was coming with him.

“Thank you for coming back, Herman,” Tara greeted him.

I looked at my mate who stood beside me. I find it almost unusual that just weeks ago, my wolf threatened her life, choking her and physically putting her in danger and now my wolf is most grateful that she is able to mediate when I am uncontrolled.
