My brother and I had been in that damned office for two hours talking about a bunch of pack crap. I yawned and slumped down in my chair as Alpha Carter and my brother began to talk about the rival pack. Apparently the packs have been rivals since the beginning of time. Their Alpha was named Asher. The name sent chills down my spine and made me stomach clench. Alpha Asher and Alpha Carter hated each other with a passion. I yawned and slumped down on the chair. At least it was comfortable.

"Am I boring you, Miss. Black?" Carter said with an amused look on his face. Joseph looked my way with a vicious stare. Just to make him mad I smirked at Alpha Carter and nodded my head.

"Indeed you are, Alpha, I'm dirty, tired, and annoyed. If you two could wrap up your conversation then that would be highly appreciated." A sly grin appeared on my face and I could see Joseph's shocked face from the corner of my eye.

"Madison!" He shouted angrily, "I'm sorry Alpha.. I don't know why she's acting like this."

Carter chuckled and rubbed his chin with his hand. Alpha Carter was quite sexy, I'll give it to him.

"It's fine Joseph. I guess we have been here quite awhile, hm?"

I nodded eagerly, hoping he'd let us go for the day. I've never wanted a shower so bad.

He hummed in response and nodded his head, "well I guess we will finish this up tomorrow then. You two can stay here tonight there are spare rooms upstairs. Make yourselves comfortable."

We thanked him and we both waved goodbye. Just before I was going to walk out of the door Carter called me back. I turned around to see he was only a few inches away from my face. I swallowed and tried to calm my nerves.

"Yes?" I asked.

"I'm holding a small party tonight with other Alphas that requires a date. I haven't found my luna yet and I think you'd be a perfect fill in. Join me?"

I rubbed the back of my neck and bit my lip, deciding if i wanted to go or not, "I don't know alpha-"

"Just Carter," he corrected, "please? cmon, I've never begged a girl to go to be my date." He smiled and grabbed my hand, gently placing a kiss on it.

My face heated up and I nodded. "Fine. I'll be there."

He smirked and kissed my cheek before walking back to his desk. "See you there, Madison."

While I was taking a shower I couldn't help but think about the small kiss on the check Carter gave me. Something about it just made my stomach turn.

Speaking of stomach turning, my mind trailed back to alpha Asher. I've never seen or heard of him since now but something was odd.

"God! Stop thinking about alphas! Get a grip Madison!" I yelled at myself. I turnt the shower water off and began to get ready. Just a bit of makeup and perfume. I've learned from Isabel that wolves are more attracted to your natural scent but it never hurts to have a touch of perfume on.

After I slipped on my heels and brushed my long hair I unlocked my door and began to make my way to the main entrance of the pack house. I got a couple of stares from the pack members. Mostly unmated horny males.

Alpha Carter was leaning against the door looking at his phone before he looked up and saw me. His eyes traveled over my entire body much like the first time we met. Except this time his eyes darkened and he smirked.

"You look even better when you dress up nicely." He complimented. I raised an eyebrow and walked towards him, "are you saying that I don't look good in sweatpants and a shirt?"

He took a step closer to me and our faces were only inches apart. "I'm saying you look better with less clothes on." He whispered in my ear.

I closed my eyes and headed towards the door. "L-let's go, don't wanna be late, do we?" He chuckled and followed behind me.

The party was held at a small park, only alphas and lunas were there and the dominance basically radiated off their bodies. I felt so out of place. Carter noticed how nervous I was and pulled me closer to him. "You look better than any other girl here. don't be nervous, Maddie."

"Maddie?" I furrowed my eyebrows and repeated. he shrugged, "yeah, you like it?"

I laughed and nodded.

A couple of other alphas came to say hello and I made friends with some of the lunas. they might come in handy when I need some place to get away from my overprotective brother.

"I'm gonna go get a drink." I told luna Katie. She was a ginger headed girl with a beautiful black dress on. Apparently she was seventeen just like me and she found her mate while walking home from school.

She nodded and we bid our goodbyes before I made my way to where the waters were. Carter came up behind me and wrapped a arm around my waist, turning me to face him. I grinned at him and took a sip of water.

"Are you enjoying the party, Miss. Black?" he mumbled while looking down at me. "I love it. you really out did yourself, Carter."

"Yeah I-" he began before his voice trailed off. My hearing zeroed in on footsteps being heard. They were coming closer and closer. My heart beat increased and my wolf stirred.

"Maddie? You okay?" Carter asked.

The same smell that was at the gas station invaded my nostrils. It was a wood, cinnamon smell and it was to die for. I moaned again. "Do you smell that?!" I asked Carter, looking around to find where it was coming from.

"No? I don't smell anything." He replied, confused. A few gasps were heard across the few people hear and carter turnt his head to see what the fuss was about. He growled under his breath and pulled me behind him.

"What? What is it? Carter?" I asked. My hand began to shake and my stomach clenched.

A loud voice could be heard from all across the area. "Where the hell is she?!" The man yelled.

"Shit." Carter mumbled. "Wha-what?"

"It's asher." He replied.
