Chapter １０

The drillmaster and trainees are hunting for Daina. My heart fell.

I didn't know Daina had been away for hours.

"Stephan Buther," my mother couldn't finish.

I reassured my mother, "I'll go search for her."

I felt terrible.Unknown anxiousness kept me from calming down.

I'd never felt like this before.

I walked into the woods with several helpers to find Daina.We looked everywhere but couldn't find her.

We traveled far into the woods without giving up.

A powerful lady like Daina may have reached the jungle's depths.

My thinking became jumbled over time.As I moved through the thorny vines, my movements grew frenetic.

Soon, daybreak was near.I hadn't located Daina all night.

"Mr.Stephan Buther, let's go back. Miss Daina may have gone."

My senses heightened then.

I could just detect her aroma as her mate.

I believed it was Daina's aroma remaining after she went through the bush, but as I proceeded, the smell got stronger.

"Cara, smell anything?"

Wolves were smellier.

Daina is probably close.

"Don't miss a thing," I said.

My attendants soon reported finding a pit.

I ran to the weed-covered hole.

I cleared the weeds and discovered a deep trench.I couldn't see inside, but I smelled blood.

Daina's blood stench made me dizzy.

Daina was definitely in the pit.

How is she now? When I was going to leap, an attendant remarked, "Mr. Stephan Buther, I'll go first."

"No, I'll descend."

I dived into the pit on my own despite my attendant's warnings.

I was impetuous but didn't care.

When I was ready to land, I felt several sharp wooden sticks in the hole.

I gripped the pit's walls and sank down.

My heart jerked as I saw Daina covered in blood, despite being psychologically prepared.

Unconscious, she was hardly breathing.

The blood-stained hole made my skin crawl.

"Daina!"

Calling her name, Iattempt to remove her nails.

My hands were trembling and coated with her blood.

She was bleeding profusely.

Daina opened her eyes briefly after hearing my voice or having the sticks removed.

I pulled her from the hole.

I hurried frantically to the hospital clutching her.

Her lips went blue from agony and twitching.

Her body felt icy, and blood gushed from her wounds

In the hallway, I saw her blood on my clothing.

How much blood had she lost? I couldn't fathom.

She spent the night alone in the wilderness.

Who tortured her? Emergency department physicians treated Daina.

I was agitated

A surge of chilly wind chilled my bones as I wait outside the ER for Daina.

I'd never been so afraid before as time passed.

Mr.Stephan Buther, you're unusual since you always bring medication.

I remembered Daina's humorous comment from earlier.

Is she really that different? Cara agreed.

You're in love with her, but you won't admit it.

This time, I didn't tell Cara to stop up, but I didn't fight with him either. All I want was for Daina to survive.

Daina's survival was most important.

 She was young with plenty to learn.She'd stand before me safely.

The ER door opened suddenly.

I watched nervously as medical professionals pushed Daina out of the emergency room.

"The patient suffered several fractures, her organs were shattered, and she lost too much blood, but she has a strong desire to survive and will wake up soon."

The chief physician smiled reassuringly.

"Get some werewolves to protect her ward," I murmured, annoyed.

"Yes,Mr.Stephan Buther."

After that, I fled the hospital and didn't dare visit Daina.

I stopped fooling myself.

My wolf told me I should only regard Daina as a companion.

I loved her long ago but never confessed it.I knew I couldn't become attached.

I had a risky assignment to complete.

Daina was becoming stronger, but not enough to face the worst.

I wasn't sure whether she could defend herself if she got engaged.

While she was with me, she was in danger.

I couldn't put Daina in danger because I liked her.

I didn't deserve love until obtaining payback.

"What's up? How's Daina? "

My mother was worried when I arrived home.

If she were healthier, she would have stayed with me until Daina was safe.

I persuaded her to leave early.

I informed her the doctor had pronounced her safe.

Why did you leave her? You returned? "

"Mom, I'm busy."

My mother persuade me and Daina to hang together.

I'd usually reacted helplessly to her efforts, but now I was attempting to avoid them.

"Humph! Proceed with your vital work; I won't disturb you.

After hearing my mother's angry words, I said, "Mom, where are you going?""

She looked at me with disappointment.

"I'll see Daina."

Maria's pov

I didn't anticipate her to be alive and attend special training.

When Daina fled, my father sent werewolves after her.

We assumed she was dead because they brought back pieces of her garments, but not her corpse.

Daina had to die.

As my father's Beta, I want her dead.

Did she believe I should take her generosity since we're friends? I was sick of Daina's arrogance and hypocrisy.

I had to pander to her whims as long as she waved her hand.

She gave me items she didn't like and helped me with little issues as Alpha's daughter.

I detested her hypocrisy, even if she meant well.

I recalled the day my father snatched Alpha from Daina's father, Daniel Bairi.

I'd never been happier.

Daina, the Alpha's daughter, died beyond the pack's territory after I succeeded her.

Ouch! I didn't expect to see her alive.

The Moonlight Pack hate her.

We'd be in danger if she sought retribution.

She had to die.

I was determined to murder her because we failed before.

The drillmaster soon announced that the first and second batches of students would explore the forest together.

I built a deep trench and inserted sharp sticks.

A person caught in this trap would die instantly or slowly from blood loss.

They couldn't climb out.

I tracked Daina throughout our forest exploration.

Pretending to be hurt and calling for aid brought Daina to the trap.

I wait for her to crawl out after she fell in.

Daina is doomed unless she's a deity.
