"Are you finally willing to tell the truth?" There was a hint of sarcasm in Klaus's indifferent tone. "Come on, give me a reason to forgive you."
Emily sighed deeply, "Many years ago, when I was a girl, I inadvertently saved a boy. I never knew who he was until that day at the mall. A man pushed me into a utility room and told me he was that same boy. That's the way it is."
"That's it?" There was a hint of doubt in Klaus's voice.
"Yes."
"Did he touch you?" Klaus stared into Emily's eyes. "Tell me the truth."
Should he be told the truth? Emily hesitated for a second, then replied, "No."
Klaus was silent, his gaze never leaving Emily's, as if he were trying to gauge whether her words were true.
Then he sighed, "Why are you lying to me?"
"I didn't lie to you." Emily tried to sound calm and clear the air, but it seemed things were going from bad to worse.
