Melissa woke up slowly, her body still feeling heavy with fatigue. She had been sick for what felt like an eternity. But as she opened her eyes, she saw a glimpse of sunshine lying next to her. Leo, the man who had been taking care of her for days, was sleeping peacefully beside her.

She gazed at him for a long time, taking in the gentle rise and fall of his chest, the soft curve of his lips, and the dark sweep of his eyelashes. She felt a surge of gratitude towards him, for being there for her when she needed him most.

Finally, she managed to muster the energy to get out of bed. She stood up slowly, her legs trembling beneath her. She grabbed a blanket to cover Leo, tucking it gently around him. Then, she made her way to the kitchen, her eyes scanning the room for any signs of mess. But to her surprise, everything was spotless. The pots from her porridge were already washed and put away, and the countertops shone like new.

She felt a lump form in her throat as she realized Leo must have cleaned up after her. She thought about how kind and caring he had been to her, how he had taken time off work to nurse her back to health. She felt a wave of emotion wash over her, and she had to fight back tears.

Just then, Leo walked into the kitchen, looking around for her. "Melissa ,why are you out of bed?" he asked, his voice laced with concern.

Melissa smiled weakly. "I just needed to stretch and get some water," she replied, holding up her glass.

Leo's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't press the issue. Instead, he walked over to her and gently felt her forehead. "You're still a bit warm," he said. "Maybe you should go back to bed?"

Melissa shook her head, feeling a bit more energized now. "I'm okay, really," she said. "Thanks to you, I think I'm on the mend."

Their eyes met, and Melissa felt a spark of connection between them. She knew she owed him a lot, and she was grateful for his care and support.

"Sit down and rest for a bit," Leo said, guiding her to a chair. "I'll make you some tea."

Melissa nodded gratefully, watching as he bustled around the kitchen. She felt a sense of peace wash over her, knowing that she was in good hands.

As they sat down to drink their tea, Melissa realized that she had been given a second chance. She was going to make the most of it, and she was going to start by showing her boss just how much she appreciated him.

"Thank you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Thank you for everything."

Leo smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Anytime, Melissa," he said.
