Chapter ２２

Katie had heard from a friend in Pretoria that a prominent culinary critic from a large national daily would be paying them a visit tonight. She had planned to get to Brown's early, but her brothers promised her that they would make sure everything was in order at the restaurant, but she needed to do her bit to prepare. They gave her a slew of articles and materials to read and study at home so she would be prepared to answer any questions the critic could throw at her. She trusted her brothers to manage the restaurant, so she did her bit by reading over all of the information they provided her.

Ellen walked in via the back entrance and into her office. However, as she was ready to go inside the dining room, she saw that the corridor leading to it was entirely black.

What exactly is going on? Ellen moved towards the dining room, frowning.

It wasn't completely black, but just the lights in the center of the room were turned on. Three candles were lighted on a single table.
