CHAPTER FOUR

Cool breeze blew across the street inner city of monbel as Agnes and Diana walked down slowly to their little farm to pluck some vegetables for making soup that evening.

It had been five years now and Diana had grown into a beautiful smart girl.

Agnes was more than proud of her and took her almond wherever she went never failing to show her off to her friends as her kid sister.

Everyone seemed to like her immediately they come in contact with and her smile was the prettiest thing ever, it could melt a soul.

Just then the weather began to change and the sky darkening a little bit. It was raining season and it seemed to rain heavily almost every day.

Heavy wind started blowing stirring up dust and people on the street began to walk faster to wherever they were going so the rain won't catch up with them.

"I don't know if we should go back, this rain is really going to be heavy and might meet us on the way" Agnes said thoughtfully looking at Diana who was walking beside her, singing her favourite poem.

"No Agy, lets get the vegetables, if not, mother won't be happy. I believe it won't rain until we get back home" Diana replied. She was the only one who usually called Agnes, Agy and it only amused Agnes at first, but now she was used to it.

"Alright then, I hope so" Agnes replied walking faster. After some minutes they got to the farm. Agnes went into the farm with Diana following closely behind, holding the little basket they would use to take the vegetables home.

"Sister agy, is that not your man friend coming towards us" Diana said grinning at Agnes making her blush a little. They had gotten the Vegetables they wanted to collect from the farm and were heading towards home. The weather had brightened again and there was no sign of rain.

"He's not my man friend, he's just a friend Diana. Let's not talk about this now he's getting closer" Agnes said quickly clearing her throat and trying so hard not to blush.

"Beautiful evening ladies" Nathan said stopping in front of them as he got closer to them. He was very fond of Agnes and didn't hide it a bit. He helped her out with many stuff she found difficult including school assignments and also stopped by the house some weekends to greet her mom.

Everyone who knew them believed or hoped that they would end up being mated to each other when the time comes as agnes was still seventeen.

"Good evening Nathan" Agnes said smiling widely and pinching Diana when she heard her giggle.

"Good evening" Diana said wrinkling her nose as she caught Nathan smiling sheepishly at angnes before she completely ignored them reciting her favourite poem that described the great old warriors. She was to recite the complete stanzas in class the next day without looking into the book where it had been written down.

She had already learnt and mastered everything about it already but she continued singing it anyways because she loved it.

Nathan and Agnes talked for a while before they headed back home quickly inorder not to keep their mom waiting.

"What was the most memorable incident that occurred in 1949? Mr Bello, the pot bellied history teacher asked, looking at the faces of each of his student. He was an elderly man in his late sixties and was almost due to retirement.

This was his second day in school as he was a new teacher in the school. He once taught at a local school in the inner city of mobel before he was transferred here.

It was a Monday morning at mobel prestigious basic school, which was the biggest centre for learning in mobel city.

A boy raised up his hand indecisively looking around and then back to the teacher.

"Yes you, can you speak up please" Mr Bello said pointing at the boy with his short fingers and narrowing his little eyes which was almost half covered by his cheek.

"In 1949, the...the army of.." He stammered then he broke off as the class began to mummur between themselves and burst into laughter.

"Sit down back" Mr hello said with displeasure in his eyes.

He looked at the faces of the students again. He noticed that a girl seemed to be disinterested in what was going on and wasn't listening. Now he was going to disgrace her by directing the question to her which she was surely going to fail woefully.

"The violet haired girl, now answer the question" he said leaning on the wall as he studied her and the whole class stopped laughing suddenly staring at her expectantly.

Things here were very different from where he lived before, Mr bello thought. The students were too full of themselves and here was this strange looking girl again with purple hairs and gray eyes staring bodly at him as he asked her to stand up and answer the question.

"Ok...in 1949, the great army of mobel conquered the north Pole and took over it including the borders of Avon. Alpha Alexander was the head alpha of the black crystal pack then, with great Markus as the commander who led in the war. The war lasted for about seven and a half days before the north surrendered and were taken as slaves, so the most memorable incident about the year 1949 was the conquering of the North Pole by our great warriors of old" Diana said confidently not pausing for once.

About six years has passed now and she was just eleven years old now but stood out among her peers. She was always on her own as most of her mates were scared to speak to her but she never seemed to mind.

Mr bello stared at her wide eyed for some minutes in bewilderment. He was surprised that the girl who seemed to have been distracted and wasn't listening could say everything about the what he asked, even the one he hadn't mentioned. Almost the whole class began to clap loudly and cheer her, while some kept staring at her.

"Young girl, how did you know how many days the war had lasted, infact in haven't even taught about some of these things you mentioned" Mr hello asked after he could finally speak as he had become speechless some minutes ago.

"Emm...I..I read it up from somewhere, emm, from my father's old book" Diana stammered. She was rather surprised that everyone made a big deal out of what she just said because to her it was just as easy as reciting the twenty six letters of alphabets.

"And how did you know about the borders of Avon too? Mr bello continued.

"I..I just knew" she said shrugging as she sat down. After that Mr hello continued with the lesson again without asking any more question.

After the lesson everyone gathered round Diana asking her some questions and trying to get her attention except for one person, Phoebe.

She had been the smartest kid in class who always got all the attention and praises from teachers. It wasn't like there were no other smart kid but she was the smartest of them all, but that was before Diana came this new girl came into the school from nowhere.

Phoebe was the spoilt beautiful daughter of the alpha of dark shadows pack and she was the only child born to him. Just like her mother she had grown up to always having and getting anything she wanted, including all the attention, but this new girl seemed to be getting on her way...
