Lana sighs, the air fogging around her face in the cold morning. "I wanted to be near you," she looks at me, shaking her head, her auburn hair free falling down her shoulders. I know I am being selfish and crossing so many boundaries with you, but I had to be close to you. "
"I missed you."
I focus on the cars passing in front of us on the road, unable to look at her without shedding tears. It's too early to cry. "You don't have to make yourself uncomfortable just to be close to me."
"Would you have accepted my offer to join me in my hotel suite then and spent more time with me?"
"No."
"it would be a long shot, and I knew it. I took what you offered, something I will continue doing until we become friends."
