Chapter 8: Aviana

"Good Morning, Aviana." I hear Kayden's voice just as I leave my room. I have already showered after my gym time with my girls. I am about to head to the band rehearsals right after breakfast.

"Good Morning, Kayden" I say when I see him flipping pancakes in the kitchen. "Where is Martha?" I ask him. I hear him chuckle before he turns off the stove and turns to me. He is wearing a plain light grey T-shirt and black jeans. In his casual wear, he looks a bit younger and carefree. He is looking really good as his T-shirt fits like a second skin, showing off his perfectly toned chest. His black hair is perfectly messy but still look good.

"Your faith in my cooking skills is heart breaking." He replies with a hand placed on his chest where his heart is supposed to be. I giggle at that. and then cross my arms across my chest as I raise an eyebrow, letting him know that I need an answer to my question. "I really can cook. As you can see, I haven't burnt the whole house down yet." Kayden says with a smirk.

"Kayden! I am not doubting your cooking skills." I tell him with a roll of my eyes before quietly muttering, "At least not yet.".

"I heard that!" He says with a chuckle.

"Kay, where is Martha?" I ask him again with a sigh as I settle down in my usual seat.

"Kay? Well, that sounds like a good nickname. Now I will give you a nickname too!" He replies with a huge grin on his face. This makes me gasp in shock. "How about Anna? Huh? It comes in the end of your name. I am going to call you Anna now!" He says with a huge grin on his face.

What is happening to Mr. I-don't-let-anyone-see-my-emotions? Why is he suddenly acting like.... Well, me!? How did he turn into a happy and cheerful person overnight? Is he high on something? Or is this person his long-lost twin? Or was he abducted by aliens and this person standing in front of me is an alien with Kayden's face mask? I mean, that is possible, right?

"Who are you and what have you done to the emotionless Kayden Knight that I knew?" I ask him as I place my hand above my heart. Kayden rolls his eyes as he places a plate of pancakes in front of me and another plate beside me. He makes his way around and settles down beside me in front of his plate.

"I told Martha to have the weekend off. My best friend is coming back after a month. He loves the food I cook and so, I'll be cooking this weekend. After that, I am sure that we'll return to our usual state of ignorance." Kayden explains.

"Oh!" I say as I take a bite of the pancakes. The pancake tastes like heaven! He wasn't joking when he said that he knows how to cook! He might just be my favourite cook now! He's even better than Martha. And that is saying a lot! "Oh God! These pancakes are heavenly! I have never tasted such awesome pancakes!" I tell him.

"Thank you." He says as he starts eating his own pancakes.

"Why do you even have Martha when you are so awesome at cooking?" I ask him.

"I am a very busy person. I even have work on Saturdays and a few meetings on Sundays. I don't have time for cooking. I just took a holiday for my best friend." Kayden explains.

"Wow! Now I want to meet your mystery best friend. He must really be someone great! He made a workaholic like you to take a day off! I would like to ask him his techniques on how to make a workaholic take a day off." I tell him.

"He would like to meet you too. He actually told me that he is looking forward to meeting you." Kayden says, turning to look at me. I grin at him.

"See how famous I am! Even your best friend wants to meet me!" I tell him with a giggle as I toss my hair back from my shoulder. Kayden rolls his eyes at me but a small smile is still plastered to his face.

"So, what are your plans for the weekend?" Kayden asks after a while. I turn to look at him to find him looking down at his pancakes in deep thought.

"The usual, I guess. Band rehearsal for an hour before me and my friends go to some mall or somewhere and hang out or we might just go to someone's house and chill." I tell him with a shrug. He looks at me.

"Do you want to hang out with me and my best friend after that?" He asks, nervously. I grin up at him as I nod my head.

"I would love to!" I tell him. Before he can say something else, my phone starts ringing. I give him and apologetic smile before tapping on answer without looking at the name.

"I am exhausted! I want a break. I am not going to make it to the rehearsals today. I am about to pass out!" I hear a familiar voice say in a dramatic tone as soon as I place the phone next to my ear. I chuckle at the voice.

"Caroline, you can skip. Cathy was asking me if she can join. I guess, she can take your spot then." I say into the phone. Caroline is one of my closest friends and a member of the band I am in. She plays the guitar. And she's awesome at it.

"Don't you dare do that! I swear if you do that even if I am on my death bed, I'll hunt you down!" She warns.

"Alright Carrie! Then make it to the rehearsals. And be on time this time. You know how angry Seb gets when anyone's late. He's on edge these days. Don't push his buttons." I tell her.

"If you didn't want him to get angry, you wouldn't have done what your parents told you to do last weekend." Carrie says, mentioning the wedding.

"Carrie! I thought you understood me." I say with a huff.

"I do. But that doesn't mean that I am happy about it." She says before sighing. "Alright, I'll be there. But can we please cut short the practice? I have to go to my sister's place. She wants my help with something." She says.

"Yeah, that's possible. Even I have to meet someone today." I tell her, glancing at Kayden who was still sitting beside me. I grin at him and he smiles.

"Okay, cool! Bye!" She says before hanging up. I keep my phone in my pocket before smiling up at Kayden.

"Looks like my schedule just got cleared up. I'll be free by noon." I tell him with a huge grin.

"Great! We'll still be here by then." he replies with a small smile. I can see that something is bothering him. He is not as happy as he was a few minutes ago.

I wonder what happened....
