They reached Daniel and Jamie’s home and Daniel led Nick inside. Nick found himself looking over his shoulder, looking for Jamie. It was going to be a while before he came back, and he wasn’t Nick’s responsibility. Yet Nick found himself anticipating Jamie’s return.

God, he was starting to sound like a complete idiot. He had been out in the middle of nowhere without sex for months. This was probably his mind going into overdrive.

Wasn’t it?

Daniel went straight into the kitchen after kicking off his shoes. Nick toed off his sneakers and followed him. Daniel was leaning on the counter island, hands gripping the edge of the countertop. His shoulders were hunched over, his whole body tense. Nick hovered in the doorway, unsure whether to leave him alone or approach him.
