Stage II, Chapter XIX: Where We Dropping Boys!?

"Back at you again folks. This is Gaia 24 News, and we've got more to report!" The catchy tune plays.

"Just in: People Are Now Falling Out Of The Sky?! A group of people seemingly skydiving seem to have appeared in the skies! And they are headed right for the invasion!" The camera view soon shifts. It begins to point almost directly into the sky. And at the corner of the screen, one can see the figures of multiple people diving down.

"There seems to be a... baby?! Folks, a baby has been spotted soaring downwards along with five other people! Is that.. a dog!?"

****************

"Where we dropping boys!?" Kenneth's voice resounded throughout the sky as the group of siblings swooped downwards.

"Way to go, announcing our presence like that. Although I like it!" (Lucas)

Meanwhile, the people on top of the buildings and on ground level took out their personal devices and began recording the strange phenomenon occuring. No, not the portal. Who needs to know about that? Everybody already knows. No, they were capturing the breathtaking, yet mostly worrying scene of the group of siblings skydiving towards a building.

"If you would, Catalyn." Kenneth reached out towards his sister's hand and stretched his other one out, towards Lena's direction.

Noticing his intentions, all the others began to move closer to each other. Eventually, all of them had grasped each other and were now falling through the air in a "☆" formation, with each person making up a point in the star.

Tyrone, who was enjoying the wind, moved into the middle of the formation.

"With pleasure, young master." Catalyn conjured the same portal from earlier, but this one far below them.

Bracing for the eventual teleport, the siblings tightened their grips, and flew into the portal.

Right above the city, the invading portal was still constantly producing the Karman ships.

On top of a bulding's rooftop, the portal from Catalyn opened up and spewed out the siblings.

"Ouch... my head." Kenneth rubbed his forehead in pain. "Maybe we should've gone for a different approach..."

"Hell no! That was fucking awesome! Let's do that again sometime!" Lucas screamed in excitement, Tyrone's bark of approval following soon after.

"Right.. Sabik. How high are you in the military rank? Are you a... lieutenant.. or a commander? What is it?" (Kenneth)

"Commander? Lieutenant? Leader, I know not of those words you speak. But if you must know, my rank was fairly high. It was called Hdaz. Around six places higher than the first rank, Jahzsk."

"Huh. Sounds high, alright. So does that mean you know something about the portals, or the ships?" (Kenneth)

"Unfortunately, no, Leader Kenneth. The portals were only explained to the people of Xixva, which is eight ranks higher than Jahzsk." Sabik explained.

"Huh. I guess invading a world would be top-secret. Do you know anything about the ships, though?" Kenneth pointed to the flying airships.

"Yes. There are three different types of airships. One, the Kuman." Sabik pointed to one airship that had a laser cannon that lined the bottom of the ship.

Occasionally, a cyan colored laser beam would be fired, it's size being thicker than a truck. Once it touched the ground it would stay there for a certain period of time, before disappearing and unveiling the Karman soldiers inside.

"The Kuman is our primary airship for transporting infantry. It will ever so often fire the teleportation beam located below the ship. The area affected will be where the Karman spawn. It's also the biggest of the three, and is more prone to enemy fire."

"The other..." Sabik pointed at one airship? No, it was more similar in appearance to that of a chamelion. Moreover, the chamelion would leap from building to building. "Is the Maya. It's purpose is for recon. It has the ability to mimic its outer skin with the surface it's touching or the surroundings. I don't know why they brought it here though... this obviously a full scale attack, and not a scouting mission.." Sabik brought his hand to his chin and wondered.

"No use thinking about that now. What about the last one?" (Kenneth)

"Of course, leader. The last one is not within sight, but it's shape is that of a arm, extending all the way to a hand. It's called the Krondu." (Sabik)

"A hand?" (Kenneth)

"Yes, a hand. It has the ability to teleport one its three main weapons directly into its grasp. They are a sword, a gun, and a plasma shield. A mixture of close range, long range, and defense. Truly formidabble." (Sabik)

"They sure do. Which one do you think we should go for first?" (Kenneth)

"This might sound surprising leader... but I recommend we go for the Maya first." (Sabik)

"And why should we do that?" Kenneth did seem surprised, but waited for Sabik to explain.

"From my person experiences, the Maya have been lethal weapons. Being able to hide in plain sight makes their mission easy to complete. And their missions have always been major." Sabik shuddered at the thought.

"Alright, I'll trust you on this one. But the questions is.. if it goes invisible... how are we supposed to find it, let alone beat it?" Kenneth asked, confused.

"That is easy. While the Karman are technologically advanced, they were never able to find a way to completely make the Maya invisible. Everytime the Maya jumps between buildings, it will momentarily appear once it lands." (Sabik)

"Why's that?" Lucas asks.

"It's hard to explain... but it goes like this. The Maya are powered by a certain liquid. While this liquid grants illusionistic capabilities, it is very vulnerable to disturbances. Even small vibrations can destroy the whole process of invisibility." (Sabik)

"Is there a way that we can... uh... stop this liquid from powering them?" (Kenneth)

"From my experiences, yes. Taking into effect the liquid's vulnerability, the Karman had no choice but to place it in the area that had the most resistance, the eyes." (Sabik)

"Oh! That's why the tail often appears first! Because the liquid is so far away from the back part!" Kenneth replied in excitement. "That settles it. We'll be heading for the Maya. Once it's done, we'll focus on clearing the others. If it's like any old portal from before then it will probably disappear when all enemies are defeated. Let's get onto it!"
