Chapter 7 Awful dream

Its hurts. My head is dizzy. My heart throbs. My legs are trembling. The wrist which he grabbed.. there's black finger spots now.

Mom. Mom. Did it hurt for you too? Why did you step in? I'm alright. I can take a few beatings too.

My head buzzes. I cover my ears. Suddenly it becomes quiet and I remove my hands from my ears. Collapsed that I am at one corner of the room, I raise my head at mom.

"Mom? Why are you red? Something red is splattered on your hands."

Why is he lying on his chest? Something is coming out from his body. It is red.

"Sain!"

She embraces me. My vision goes blank and I can see nothing.

"Why is he lying like that? Why is it red? Is it blood?"

I can feel her body trembling. "Listen Sain. It is nothing wrong. What I did was not wrong! I know. He's in that state because he hit you! He hit my beloved son! He hit me! He deserved it! I did nothing wrong!"

"I believe you mom." I snuggle my head against her stomach.

Her trembling body startles when we hear the door knock. Someone abruptly starts to vigorously knock on the door.

She panics and stands up. "Sain!" She hides me in the closet. "You wait for me here okay. Mom will come back to get you."

I smile. "Kay! I'll wait for you. I promise!"

"You're a good boy."

"Sain! Sain!"

I wake up and tilt my head at Eclise. "Huh?"

"The teacher is looking at you!"

I hastily sit upright and apologize. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!"

"Yeah. Now get out of the class."

I guess I can't help it. It is my fault that I fell asleep in the middle of the class.

I accept my punishment.

I stand leaning against the wall outside the classroom.

I think I was having an awful dream. I don't remember it though. But I'm glad I forgot it since I feel like it'll make my mood even worse.

"What are you doing out here, Sain?"

I stop leaning. "Ms Yana! Ahh. I got punished for sleeping in class."

She keeps glancing at my face for a while with her brows frowning. "You can't do that. I hope you do remember that you have midterms next week."

"Ye.. yes."

"Make sure you sleep well every night and take care of your health. You can always contact me if anything is wrong. Even in your family."

"Understood."

After standing for 50 minutes outside the classroom, I finally got to go in. Though I missed the whole lecture.

"What's wrong, Sain? Your left eye looks bloodshot."

I panic and hide my eye. I forgot. Even though it is not swollen anymore it's still bloodshot.

"Eehh. I guess its my allergy."

He closely inspects my face. "So your allergies got to your cheek?"

I shove him away. "what the hell! That's so weird!"

Dew catches the wobbling Eclise. "woah there. Why are you trying to hit on another dude?"

Eclise refutes. "I'm not hitting on him!"

"Dew! You're making it sound more awful." I rub my cheek. "Please don't make me more embarrassed than I already am."

They feel obliged not to question me about my scars for the rest of the day.

The people at my workplace are really mature. They make sure that they don't pry into others' private lives. It makes it easier for me to work there.

"Its been a whole month and I receive my first salary!" I'm excited to hand it to mom.

"Yay. Congrats." Burn couldn't sound less uninterested. "Now its time for monthly restocking. Please check which products we are short on."

"Chaste and Reverie will be helping me too, right." Chaste and Reverie are both my co workers. We are all fellow employees.

"Yes."

I along with Chaste line up the medicines and start to count them. That's when I come across a certain bottle.

I think I've seen this bottle before.

I ask Chaste. "What does this medicine do?"

"Ohh. That? That's calcium supplements. Two cups a day and your bones are as good as new."

"Really?" I inspect the bottle.

"Why? Your bones have gone bad already, old man?" He mocks me and I laugh it off.

"No. I've been wondering if mom needs one." I take the bottle. "Let me buy this one!"

"Sure sure. I hope your mom doesn't get osteoporosis."
