Chapter 39 The Good Boy

He looks convinced for now but I wonder how long that will last.

I roll my eyes back at the people in front of me.

"Yes. We reconciled."

"That's a relief."

"Alright. Its getting late. We're leaving, Sain."

"Thanks again, Burn and Reverie. Take care."

"You too."

I bid them farewell. I slide and touch the ground with my feet.

It is time Mr Xeno went to Eclise's house to arrest him. The camera only recorded him. Also that boy's call logs had Eclise's numbers since I called him using his phone. He's the prime suspect and Mr Xeno cannot overlook that.

It is so exhilarating. He broke our promise and spread that rumour about my mother. It'll be fun to watch the rumours about him spreading throughout the school.

An enormous grin blooms on my face.

"I wonder what must be happening there now." I wish I could go and see. Haha.

["Eclise! Eclise! Eclise!"

"Please move ma'am. You're obstructing our work."

"Nooo! My sooon!"

A man stands up and whispers in his ears. "Mr Xeno. The boy is dead."

Xeno widens his eyes.

He slit his wrist with the box cutter. Why did he commit suicide? What was he so afraid of? Did he actually kill them?

The cry of his mother pierces the sky.

After all the formalities with his family, Xeno smokes in his car.

In the end that boy felt pressured because of our imposition and committed suicide. Was suicide really the last option he had left? What was he trying to hide?]

The next morning. I went to a hospital and even came back. But mom still hasn't left her room.

"Mom. Have you eaten anything? Are you alright?" I knock on her door.

Like always she won't say anything.

"Look mom." I cough. "I'm sorry that I told you what I did. I shouldn't have said anything. But I can never lie to you. Please forgive me."

My phone buzzes in the middle.

"Please come out and eat something. You'll starve at this rate."

My phone keeps annoyingly buzzing so I take it out and press it on my ear.

"What is it, Dew?"

"Eclise! Eclise died last night!"

"Eclise.. what?!"

"I'm at his house now!"

"Send me the address! I'm coming as well." I put down my phone and knock on the door again. "Mom! I'm going to my friend's house for a while. I'll leave the food on the table. Please come out and eat."

She says nothing nor comes out to tell me, 'See you later'.

At Eclise's house, I hear them saying that he committed suicide because the police came to arrest him.

So he killed himself. I didn't expect that.

I sigh. Of course that isn't the entirety of the truth. Only I'm aware what really drove him to kill himself.

I really did think of him as my friend. But he did it wrong by breaking our promise. It is karma, Eclise. You hurt me. I hurt you. You die. I win.

I roll my eyeballs and judge the people around me.

It doesn't look like the people are grieving over his death except his family. This must be what he was so scared of that he had to end his own life.

I mumble. "Society really is cruel, isn't it? Eclise." I smirk. "Well. At least I know you were a good boy till the verrrryyyy end."
