Chapter 37 Eclise (pt 2)

After school we decided to visit Sain at the hospital.

I don't want to meet him. I'm scared of what expression he's going to make next. But I cannot act that way either.

"What had happened to you, Sain? How are you feeling now?" Asks Dew.

He smiles. "It looks like I got terribly sick. They gave me saline. So I'm fine now."

He doesn't have the courage to ask if his mother did that to him.

"Alright. You should rest well. Take a few days off from school okay."

"Mhm. Thanks for worrying about me, Dew."

"We'll get going then. Let's go Eclise."

"Ahh wait.."

I widen my eyes. What is he going to tell him?!

"Can Eclise stay behind for a while?"

I gasp before nodding.

"In that case I'm leaving." With that said Dew leaves us alone.

"Wha… what do you want from me?!" My words stammer.

"Don't look so terrified, Eclise. Everyone will find out if you do." He looks up and grins. "We can't let that happen, can we? So.." he glares. "Smile!"

"Heek!" I can't smile! I doubt I'll ever be able to smile in my life again. I'm even too scared to live forward!

"Smile, Eclise. I said. Smile!"

"Alright alright Sain. I'll smile. So… that.. no one.. will know."

"That's better. I hope we can continue to be friends forever. I'll make sure nothing will happen to you. I'll protect you from everything. So don't look so scared, okay."

"Ye.. yes." I turn around. "I'll be leaving too."

I hastily walk out and bump into a girl.

"No please! I'm sorry!"

"What's wrong? Aren't you Sain's friend?" She grabs my arms.

"Reverie?"

"Is Sain alright? Why do you look so scared? Nothing major happened to him, right? It is all over the school that Sain collapsed in his classroom.."

"He.. he is alright.."

"I'm glad." She breathes a sigh of relief. "Is it his mother again? I think we should do something about her. I can't let Sain be tormented both at his home and school."

"Reverie! You mustn't get involved!" I glare at her. "He isn't what we think he is.

Sain Sinzer is insane and sinister!"

I walk past her and speed up."What? What do you mean, Eclise?"

I can't say anymore than that. As I get closer to the exit, I notice officer Xeno.

My heart skips a beat and I hurriedly hide myself.

The cops are here! They'll arrest me!

Fortunately officer Xeno doesn't notice me and I reach home safely. I lock myself in my room allowing no one inside.

I think I can't keep pretending like nothing happened. I literally buried someone! I can never forget that!

I should take some days off and cool down in my room.

I'm not as insane as Sain is.

Soon it is night. I somehow cooled off.

After all.. it should be fine if no one knows right. It should be fine. I didn't kill anyone. I only buried a dead body. That's all.

Everything will be fine.

I walk closer to the door and twist the knob however my mother anxiously speaks from the other side.

"Eclise! Someone is here to see you!"

Judging her voice.. I'm sure it isn't my friend. Neither Sain.

"Who… who is it..?"

"Eclise." He knocks the door.

I take several steps back and fall.

Officer Xeno! Why is he here? Did he find out already?!

"Eclise. Open the door. We need to chat alright. We are only going to talk."

Nonononono! If I open the door they are going to arrest me! I don't want to go to prison!

"Eclise! Are you there? Listen to me. Please respond."

I tremble. What will happen if they arrest me? My reputation will collapse. My family will be taunted because of me! I'll be belittled for the rest of my life. Even once I'm done serving my sentence my future will remain in the dark.

I'm scared of the judgemental society that will always gaze at me with those hateful eyes!

I'm scared that even my family might come to hate me… even though I didn't do anything.

I squeeze my head in between my arms and cry.

"I didn't do anything! I didn't do anything! I don't deserve this!"

"Eclise? Please come out of the room for a while. You can go right back in after we're done talking."

I pick up my book and shove it at the door. "I said I didn't do anything! Why won't you just leave!"

"Eclise. If you don't open the door we'll forcefully open it from outside."

"JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!"

I'm too scared of the world that awaits me after this!
